Are the Warrior knee blocks THAT stiff where they feel THAT much padding in a knee guard is necessary? It's certainly not a dig on either Warrior's pads or the knee guards... but typically a manufacturer's knee guards are offered to compliment what the pad lacks... a system of sorts.

I know I had to add padding to my knee pads when I moved to a stiffer knee block... and really that's my frame of reference. Maybe I'm off on this... but open to any thoughts anyone else may on the subject as well.

For us older guys, set ups like this also give us a softer landing. It also helps stabilize the knee.

If you live near by, you can always stop in! Online orders will only be available to US buyers, as we have Canadian dealers carrying the product.

Sounds good - any price break on direct sales?

I live near your location. Is it possible to come to the location to be fitted/buy, or Online only?

I put these Brian's straps aside when I bought my Brian's Optiks because they were too long.  I have a shortened version of them (purchased separately but same type) that go through my front skate hole then back through the middle skate hole and velcro together on top of my skate laces.  I have had no issues at all and I love them.  They offer good flex but not as restrictive as the Warrior strap I've used before or laces.  Easier on your knees and ankles.

I have no issues with it coming loose as it is a double velcro capture.  This really helps as snow and ice can build up and if it was a single velcro I could see how it would fail.  No issues with putting them on and easy to take off.

What he said. I tried the various bungee set ups, found them too restrictive.

The only change I made was to knot some skate lace like you would with the skate lace set up. and connect that to the pad, instead of using the cord supplied.

Stories like above just kill me!!!!  My bad experiences really entail poor materials and a “flash” sale where they were making the product to order, which is the most bizarre thing I have ever heard of.

Kenesky is making the same sorts of things and are most likely better made with much better materials.

Kenesky has an opportunity to take this market. But they need to spend some money on E commerce, so people can order stuff more easily.

I've been eyeing a Brown chest pad for a while. I've never really put as much thought into my chest pads as I have other gear, and I have no doubt I've been missing out (I've been wearing a senior-level Koho chest pad since ~2004, and it's kind of a joke -- I bruise pretty easily). Brown seems a bit pricey (which is NOT to say that they're overpriced, or not worth it), but I'm at the point where I'm hoping the gear I buy will last me 10+ years, and it's worth it for superior design and production.

The only thing that's really holding me back from buying a new chest pad is all the talk about them being redesigned to be more streamlined for the NHL. Mike Howard at Kenesky was telling me how many companies are working on slimmer spec chest pads to satisfy the looming NHL rules, and I've seen a few pictures of mainstream companies (I forget which) showing such chest pads at trade shows. I've always hated bulky chest pads, so these slimmer designs are almost certainly something I'll want to wait for. Anyone have any idea as to whether Brown would start following suit? I'm not sure, given that their customer base seems to be 'older' goalies (not kids and teens) who appreciate some older designs and quality production.

John has a large pro clientele, so he will have to meet NHL standards. But in general most things John made in the 70's haven't changed much.

Remember he is custom and can make it any way you want. But changes = upcharges. Email him, he responds quickly.
