    Here's the whole complex:

It's a killer spot. AC has casinos right on the boardwalk. But the rest of the city is ghetto.

When my kids have games at AC - we go out on to the runways and drive. I was trying to get my Jeep over 100 mph - but the runways are short and if you overrun them, you're in the bay.

The city has been kicking around proposals for the entire site for decades. Still nothing new.

I was working (Concert Audio/Sound) a "festival" at Showboat Hotel in the old House of Blue room... but we stayed outside the beach in the newer Holiday Inn (it was nice) and drove by the rink a few times.  After spending a few days in AC, I wouldn't want to bring the family there for a vacation (I felt safer in the Ghetto of Baltimore, like where they tried burning the city down).

That's sun damage. Also looks like someone popped off the Thrashers logo.

If the Thrashers were still around, they likely would have replaced that sign by now.

Then again, I live in the Flyers practice rink. That place is quite outdated on the civilian side of the joint. They just got rid of the old boob tube tvs in the lobby. The Phantoms moved out a long time ago, the second rink is still called the Phantoms rink. The facility just recently removed the 'Philadelphia Phantoms' logo from the lobby. You can still see where it was...

Is that the one in Atlantic City?  I drop by that rink a couple months ago and on a Friday night at 10p it was closed.

  3. Someone asked me if a catch glove was heavier or lighting than another one, so I pulled out my 4 gloves and weighed them on out Baby scale.

    Ultrasonic (retail): 2lbs, 5.7oz...

"Hyperlite" Vanecek Pro Return (NXG based) Game Ready: 2lbs, 3.6oz...

    V9 Pro Carbon (2pc, retail) 2lbs, 5.7oz...

    CCM Premier (600, Pro Palm) 2lbs, 5.7oz...

Have you felt any stingers using it? If not, I might have to look into getting one later.

If you're asking me... I've only put my hand in the glove at the store.

I have a Mach with Pro-Palm on order.

What type of palm is on the M5? I'm looking for gloves with a pro palm, because I've taken one too many stingers to the palm.

It's pretty soft and easy to close right out of the box, much easier than a Pro-Game Ready palm.

Maybe one of the popular online shops will offer an M5 "Plus" where the come with a "Pro" Palm, but it was essentially a "Game-Ready" out of the Pro level glove.

  6. I was having similar issues and spent nearly 4-5 years and almost every single pair of skates on the market and never felt comfortable.  In Late 2019, after talking with the shop they suggested I go the custom skate route... so I dropped the coin and bought some Custom CCM AS1 skates and I couldn't be any happier.  I am still using the skates today (I skate about once a week) and not looking to replace them.

When the skates arrived it was almost a 95% perfect fit, tossed them in the skate bake oven and then after a handful of skates, they feel like slippers.

  7. I went from EF2 into a Vaughn V9 and now using a Hyperlite pad while waiting for my custom MACH (with the soft/hyperlite flex) set to come in.

I demo'd the Ultrasonic and found them way too stuff for my likings.  I like a flexible pad with very little torsional flex.

I screwed up with the spec table in the first post and wrote Poron in the Palm, when I had actually specced (and received) Poron in the Thumb. I always go with this spec because that is the only way to reinforce the thumb. When you step up to a pro palm, you are now speccing Poron in the palm (though I do not know if it is 3mm worth of Poron). Practice palms will get you some Curv, which is otherwise not present in the palm in Game Ready or Pro.

I did the same spec for US (+ reinforcing the tee perimeter, which I've also done for Mach) and I thought it closed fairly easily. I think @wvuviv30 and @BadAngle41 might be able to attest to the closure.

I've only gotten one skate/game on the glove and I like it and it does closes smooth/easy.  I've also been guy who orders their catcher with a Pro-Palm and have been doing it since Early 2000s; I feel that Pro-Palms hold their shape/break much better.

To me it looks like a cross between what True does and a professor strap.  Probably works great for someone with normal legs, but I've got big calves and I bet I'd struggle with it.

I believe thats the "Mach will feature a new Tune-Fit+ strapping system at the calf designed to balance the pad on the leg. Fully adjustable straps at both the top and bottom of the calf will allow for a truly customized and exact fit for any leg shape and size."

How is that different from the current Bauer Supreme calf channels (2S Pro, Ultrasonic/3S)?

Thats what I am trying to figure out, it's a selection in the customizer, 'Calf Bracket' and options are Mach or no bracket

From Goalie Monkey: "Further down on the calf a redesigned Calf Support System (C.S.S) includes an all-new molded calf pillow and bracket built into the calf plate itself. "

you can get Hyperlite flex on the Mach... He is ordering custom.

Exactly, I am going the Pro-Custom route.

My retailer was suggesting the Semi-Soft core.  I'm going try and get my hands on a pair of Hyperlite or 2X (semi-soft) Pads and demo them before ordering.

Your saying you love two soft pads, but you’re ordering the stiffest on the market? Definitely get the hyperlite flex unless you want two wood boards on your legs. The leg channel is super adjustable

I want a stiffer pad... the V9 is too soft and flexes a lot.

If you're a hybrid-type goalie, which your pad history shows you to be, I'm curious why you're looking for a Mach pad (continuation of the Supreme series)  which is targeted at butterfly/positional goalies rather than the Vapor pad series.

Vapor should give you the tight pad feel which you seem to prefer. It's a softer pad that still gives hard rebounds, though not as much as a so-called butterfly pad specifically designed for hard rebounds.

I self classify myself as a 'hybrid' goalie, but I like the open leg channel.  The EF2's pads don't flex nearly as much as the V9's.

  14. I'm about to place an order for some new "Mach" gear and I am going through my local retailer.  Without having them asking 120938 questions to the Bauer rep, I am hoping that I can get some help here.  My retailer isn't very knowledgeable in Goalie equipment, but I have a long-standing relationship with my retailer.

In years past, I’ve pretty much picked up off the shelf retail stuff and adapted to it.

Leg Pads: I loved the feel & flex of my EF2 pads, but recently picked up a pair of V9s and I feel that the V9's have too much rotational flex for me)

Catcher: I have gotten accustomed and love the Original 600 break. I picked up a V9 (2pc) and I like the face/angles, but don’t like the ‘wide U’ break and it feels like it's sliding off my band. I recently picked up a Bauer Vanecek (reskinned NXG) return and like the comfort/feel but going to take a few games to get use the slightly different catch surface. I have tried an EF4-600 and the tweaks they did, didn’t feel the same as the OG-600 break, it was very weird. I also tried a Optik2 and I like the feel/comfort but I couldn’t catch a puck at all.

Blocker: I love the older CCM/Lefevre bindless blocker, currently I have a new EF5 and the slide release strap never stays put. I’ve tried a Vaughn VE8 and hated the sloppy/floppiness off it; I also tried a Optik2 and it felt like the blocker was always falling off my hand.

Here is what I am looking at for my first ever custom set, but I have a few questions:

    Pads:

Construction: Mach profile with the either Ultrasonic or Mach flex.  Which one is similar to the Eflex2 flex?

    Boot: 100 degree - Soft

Knee Block: What’s the difference between Stabilislide, Stabilflex and Traditional w/ Pro Bump?

Knee Wing: adjustable (may remove it later, I have in the past),

Calf Bracket: Mach or not bracket, what is this?

True Fit Connect: what’s the difference between the Supreme and Vapor?

Strapping: IF I add leather straps, can they be removed later?  Does the Knee leather strap angle below the knee (a la Carey Price style)?

Boot Strap: Can I get both CRS and Leather?  I did like having the leather strap on the EF2 over the elastic on the V9.

    Toe Ties: stock/bungee

    Catcher:

Mach with Pro-Palm (I like the feel & stiffness, and I’ve been using one for nearly 20 years)

Wrist strap: Added, I like the feel.

Poron – is it needed? What’s the benefits/negatives?

    Pocket Lacing: Nylon

    T-Trap – Double with Reinforced T

Palm Maternal: probably Nash, my Vancek’s pro return has it and I like the softness; but my CCM’s have always had the grip.  I wonder how the Mach grip print is?

    Blocker:

Hyperlite (I like the open cuff over the Mach)

    Pillow – no thumb pillow

A little birdie shared these with me.

I really like the look of the backhand of the catcher. Looks very streamlined. Didn't like the path CCM took with EF5.

please get rid of the quick strap on the blocker, I miss the velcro strap.
