False.  I have the black EVA in my PS.  I hate it.  I prefer the creme foam in my Pro's Choice leaps and bounds over the EVA.  I'd love the PC foam in my PS mask.  But yes, EVA compared to Rubatex I'll take the EVA all day ever day.

Oh snap. So you don’t like Michel’s EVA foam, but you’ll take it over his Rubatex option?

Why no love for the black foam?

Not my cup of tea but man is it sweet the way you upgraded a classic.  GLWS!

Sorry man. I joined the mask brigade. My sportmask mage is pretty nice.

Still hold combos dear to my heart.

    I can't really say anything as I'm currently spec'ing out a Protechsport 🤷🏻‍♂️

Tan foam is rubatex, black is that nicer, softer foam.

I think there may be only two cheater varieties.

Strapping is only black and white unless that has changed.

    Welcome to the hole!

    Thanks @bunnyman666!

    • I've only used two types of black foam. The really rigid stuff Sportmask uses sometimes (doesn't lose shape, chip away, or alter in density) and then, as you know, the Jofa stuff in the 390. Is Michel's comparable to maybe the Jofa? Also is the EVA less durable than rubatex?
    • You went with a matte white shell, correct? Do you find it shows wear or scuffs any worse than gloss? I'm leaning towards matte, but undecided currently.
    • Finally, are the white straps the ones that are kind of cream coloured? Very old school looking?
  4. Hey folks, I’ve begun the descent down the @bunnyman666-hole and after a few emails with Michel... I’m going for it!

I have a few clarifying questions, as there seems to almost be a “secret menu” of features beyond the Protechsport website:

    - What are all the colours of strapping available?

    - What are all my cage options? I know he offers a cheater, and I want one, but are there different versions?

    - What is the difference between black/cream foam?

    Thanks!

I use the small synthetic S-biners now.  I've also used those plastic hook and loop type terminations, but I like the s-biner better because it just lays flat on top of the skate.  You can just tie an anglers loop in the shock cord and it holds perfect.

Cool, same as me. Always looking for additional ways to tinker.

    Thanks!

Did you get the shock cord sleeve that he sells?  maybe you should have gotten the shock cord sleeve...JK  Seriously though, I purchased the same shock cord and some connectors on Amazon for like $10-$12 and made 3 sets because the shock cord will fray and/or stretch out.  Its not hard and took about 10min to make all 3 sets.

What did you use for connectors?

I've been tinkering with S-biners and shock cord....

The problem I have with this situation that seems to come up with EVERY independent goalie gear/niche goalie parts manufacturer that finds itself struggling with shipments. In almost every case where one of these niche companies can't meet deadlines or delivery dates, some truly awful tragedy strikes them that gives them an excuse for not completing orders.

Since the days of the very first post that ever hit the GSBB these events were always the primary excuse for not delivering. Countless companies have come and gone, some still operating and oddly every one of them is cursed with an unimaginable tragedy that gets in the way of business.

I truly hope this is exactly that, an excuse to draw sympathy towards the situation allowing the company to continue to miss deadlines or catch-up because I don't wish that hell his family may be going through on anyone.

For a company that has obliterated trust with customers and suppliers alike, I have an incredibly hard time allowing myself to trust them to tell the truth about anything.

I do wish the family all the best in a very trying time.

I know this post will come across as crass and to some completely cold and dispassionate but as I'm sure other members that have been around on other old/new gear forums can attest to just how prevalent these types of situations are in this industry.

This is a fair point. Even taken at face value, this tragedy has been book-ended by poor communication and subpar service.

  8. These guys are brutal, I'd picked up some TLGs, as they had the only attachments small enough for my set up.

They didn't include the little jenpro washers as I think they were an older version. So I wrote them on social media, not to bitch, but just to ask if there's something at the hardware store that would be a suitable replacement. Auto reply is something about not responding to order or product inquiries via social media, please email blah blah blah.

Copy and paste, sent to email... weeks and nada.

I knew these guys were a joke, and I was pretty reluctant to make my purchase, and did so out of necessity, but it's funny how poorly they operate on every level.

I am aware of the tragedy that struck their family and I feel for that, but it hasn't kept them from continuing to work, produce goods, post on social media, etc etc. Monster is just a bad company.

I didn't hear this from Monster but I have a feeling things are being delayed as the new Bauer pads are going to be featuring the Monster HAL strap!

Side note I have been waiting for a month on replacement HAL straps for our store as the TLG have been failing!

PSS I still wear the regular monster HAL and they are holding up well!

Do you mean that the TLG is failing to sell, or that the units themselves are failing?

    Thanks!

Alright, so I made a trip to the store today and finally pulled the trigger on my new bag! My old Warrior Messiah bag had treated me well and lasted for around 4-5 years or so of usage, but it was time to buy another bag.

Before going to the store my top 2 choices were the True carry bag and the Warrior Convert wheeled bag. The True bag seemed like really good quality, but I knew that since it didn't have wheels I would most likely end up going with the Warrior Covert due to me being very happy with my last Warrior bag, plus I just prefer wheels that much more.

I'm 25 years young, but I've unfortunately have had very serious back & spine issues in the past that I've had operated on as well, so anything to make it easier on my back going to and from the rink before and after I play is always a plus in my mind. I will say that I have always liked the "carry vs wheel" bag debate us hockey players have had since the beginning of time, as it's all in good fun after all. I will happily take all the chirps for this bag, but my physical health is my number 1 priority here haha.

When I got to the store I noticed the Warrior Covert on display, along with a few other bags that I checked too. It looked the Warrior Covert bag I was eyeing had been stuffed a few times and wheeled around quite a bit, and the employee mentioned that he would grab a fresh one for me in the back. After coming back, I noticed he also brought this other Warrior bag (The all-black Warrior Ritual) that I had not seen on the website. I was intrigued to say the least. After looking over both bags, I ended up going with the Warrior Ritual bag as it looked slightly bigger and I knew I would have a ton of room for all of my gear, plus the pockets were more than enough to fit all of my extra accessories (I find that some massive "carry everything" bags don't have nice enough pockets on the inside/outside), just a large open space, but this bag seemed to fit all my needs that I was looking for.  Plus it was $10 cheaper in the end. Worth it!

Now onto some pictures: this Warrior Ritual official dimensions are 44in x 24in x 24in. Approximately 3-4 inches wider and taller than my last bag. Yeah, it's a beast.

Just saw this bag online for the first time over the weekend. I was eyeing it up, since my Brian's bag just gave up after 8 years or so.

I think you've sold me on this thing, dang, that's a beauty!

I haven’t played on polished concrete so I can’t say for sure but I think the hook Velcro would work. It’s easy to apply and relatively cheap compared to slide plates.

Thanks, I'll give it a try. Less bulk and more subtle than felt pads or something.

There were one or two guys I saw over the winter using slide plates, but they aren't sanctioned for the time being, so I can't use anything like that in my league. And, yeah, they can be big $$$

  12. These are really cool!

I play ball hockey as well, but on rink floors (polished concrete.)

Do you recommend using hook velcro for sliding on there too, or something else? Now that summer leagues have started, I'm getting way too much friction on my pads.

    Thanks!
