    Ha, no I do not, actually.  Isn't NME just a pun for "Enemy"?   Stable Loaded Response?  eXtended Palm?

    To be fair, I thought GFL was akin to Pro's Choice, Sportmask, CCM, Hackva, which is why I asked.  I wasn't aware it was a version of CCM.

    Maybe it's Good F-ing Luck (figuring out what this stands for)

    That was me in Chenner's old pads. I broke the leather wrist strap and have been using a Factory Mad glove while I figure where to get the Kenesky glove repaired.

    Pretty sure the Factory Mad folks also do equipment repair - I know a lot of people really like their glove modifications, too.

    Ya I've been wondering if I should get different pads lately myself. I have the VE8 Pro Carbon ones. 34+2 but there's something about then I just couldn't get totally use to.

    I am new (last year) to ice hockey goalie. I tried a friend's pads which were Vaughn SLRs and really likely them. So I decided to buy Vaughns but didn't pay attention that the Velocity line is was softer.

    Last night i tried his SLRs again and likely them more. But they don't feel overly more stiff. Definitely stiffer but maybe because they are a few years old they are loosing up. Also noticed they are much better for sliding even without the quick slide.

    Trying to decide which pads to get now. The SLRs or the V9s. As you can imagine I didnt sleep good last night because of this

    If you can wait, I think the SLR3 pads are coming out soon.

    I read the full Atlantic article you linked, it tried to discredit him because he was on Tucker Carlson, and ramled about if he was really the inventor or not, but otherwise I agreed with most of it.

    From the article:

    Regarding the article I linked to the BBC reporter, since those numbers of vaccine deaths you gave are not from a "peer-reviewed" paper, I can scientifically say it's "baseless" ;)

    But really, most countries are relying on self-reported cases to count vaccine deaths and injuries. Which is I guess about as random and reliable as a Facebook survey (?) In the US they have VAERS website to report vaccine incidences. Here's a summary of the data. More vaccine reported deaths than all others combined. There were +6,000 reported deaths in the US in a 7 month span. Reuters "Fact Check" says it's not false, but "missing context" that just because someone dies soon after taking the vaccine does not imply the vaccine killed them. Fair enough. But that's what the best data available says.

    1) The underlying numbers from that article are taken directly from data from the UK government website. https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/coronavirus-covid-19-vaccine-adverse-reactions/coronavirus-vaccine-summary-of-yellow-card-reporting

    2) He contributed to the work in its infancy that eventually gave us the mRNA vaccines we have today. That doesn't make him the ultimate authority on it - and his recommendation to only give it to high-risk patients goes against the recommendation from many thousands of other doctors to give it to everyone 12+ as fast as we can. Streamlining regulatory red tape is not the same as rushing the development of the vaccine (implying that it is somehow unsafe); it still went through rigorous clinical trials with thousands of patients, and the data was reviewed (with priority) just as it would have been otherwise. Phase 3 clinical trials for the Pfizer vaccine included more than 43000 people; this compares similarly with 4000-22000 people in various clinical studies for statins (cholesterol lowering drugs that are used ubiquitously).

    Sources: https://www.pfizer.com/news/press-release/press-release-detail/pfizer-and-biontech-conclude-phase-3-study-covid-19-vaccine

    https://www.lipid.org/sites/default/files/2-_lipid_u-_landmark_clinical_trials-_brown.pdf

    3) You yourself said that countries are relying on self-reported; VAERS is no different. https://vaers.hhs.gov/data/dataguide.html - anyone can submit a report saying almost anything to this database; they are not verified to be accurate in any way. Any information coming from that database (and other like it) should be taken with a hefty dose of salt.

    The survey was done by Carnegie Mellon University and the University of Pittsburgh and had 5 million participants, it's not a Reddit poll with 20 people. And looking at other stats in the poll, eg. they found rural Trump supports and young black people are also very vaccine hesitant, I would say it mirrors many other surveys. I wouldn't say it's "baseless"...and how do you "peer review" an on-line survey anyway (?) :D

    Regarding vaccine passports, it's not just like you can't go to a concert or something, people are losing jobs, kicked out of schools, not allowed to travel to see families, etc. Then there's the question of your right to medical privacy and other issues, eg. what if hackers download vaccine passport databases and dump all your details online somewhere? Oh wait, they already did that.

    Vaccine requirements to go to school have been around for ages; another one is nothing new. If your job requires it, get it or find a new job. Better yet, get it to protect yourself and others, and then don't worry about what your job requires or doesn't require. It is also in the context of it being required for jobs in healthcare, elder care, airlines - all jobs where you come into contact with sick or vulnerable people, or many people of indeterminate status every day. Flying on a plane is not a fundamental human right.

    And yes, mRNA has been around a while. Here's a 3 hour interview with one of the inventors of it. He is himself vaccinated, but points out some issues and dangers about the vaccine and how it's being rolled out.

    The Dr. Malone from that interview has been pushing very questionable interpretations for many years. Here is a good article about it: https://www.theatlantic.com/science/archive/2021/08/robert-malone-vaccine-inventor-vaccine-skeptic/619734/ To quote the article "He's fucking up his chance at a Nobel Prize."

    21 minutes ago, estogoalie said:

    ...and sadly, young, healthy people are also dying from the vaccine :( Yes, it's a very small percentage, but then COVID deaths in young, healthy people are also a very small percentage. So pick your poison. Literally.

    Please stop conflating these two things. The side effects from the AZ shot (not even an mRNA vaccine) in the article you linked were 417 cases and 72 deaths out of nearly 49,000,000 doses - that particular blood clot has a ~0.00015% chance to show up, and shows up basically exclusively in women. The rate of getting similar blood clots from birth control is ~0.065% per year (0.3% to 1% increased risk over 10 years), making it more than 400x more likely than getting it from the shot. And yet women everywhere still use hormonal birth control without a second thought.

    With billions of doses of mRNA vaccines administered around the world, if there was some awful side effect in any significant percentage, it would have shown up already. It is not picking your poison - it is picking between protecting yourself and others , and picking to not even care about yourself.

    That's not what the study says. Here is the link to the full pre-print text.

    https://poseidon01.ssrn.com/delivery.php?ID=887104096000094083102017026126067007027014046014006078009029107034057005125018082036021107003003031066108015074011070007013115043054002048031094030106042017013088028076055101055013064074117031108059012094054093008003124022104091097114088095007126023027107067024028093100070022024127073000110&EXT=pdf&INDEX=TRUE

    I would note that as a pre-print study, it has not yet been peer reviewed. Peer review could find flaws in the data or analysis that would negate the study's conclusions.

    However, the study does not make any conclusions about vaccinated people as a whole group. It says that for these 62 people who had breakthrough infections, their viral load (as calculated by their own, in-house formula, which may or may not be accurate) was much higher than the general viral load for a random infected person picked off the street. This would be quite good evidence that the vaccine works - they needed to be exposed to much, much more than the average amount of virus in order to generate an infection, and they all recovered uneventfully. It is also not surprising that, as health care workers, they would come into contact with higher virus concentrations than the average person.

    Omg thank for the answer here ! Did you lost any arm mobility with the ultrasonic beefed arm ?

    its exactly what I’m looking to order at this moment

    No, the Ultrasonic arms (even beefed up) are very mobile.

  8. I currently use a Hyperlite C/A with beefed up Ultrasonic arms and I am loving it. It is very light and mobile while still being protective; haven't had a stinger yet. This chest protector also comes with a loop at the bottom of the spine, which you can attach to the back of your pants. This will help prevent the back part from riding up and pushing the shoulders up. I also wear mine untucked and haven't had any issues when using this method. I circled it on the picture below.

    I must say, not a fan on my ccm pro palm 580 at all. Closure isn’t bad but protection is miserable. I’m getting bruises from wrist shots. Safe to say I’ll be picking up another stock G5 pro to use for this season.

    Is this the Axis or EF5 pro palm? I didn't have any issues with protection or closure when I was using the True 20.1 Game Ready+ 580.

    Some quick questions about some options. I am thinking about adding:
    1) Extra Bicep protection;

    2) Raised Shoulder Lifts (but worried about mobility with the chin of mask and dangler);

    3) Extra Rib Protection;

    4) Shoulder Wing Extension (maximum 1.5");

    5) Solid Raised Edges (Not Legal) and Heavy Plastic;

    6) I currently tuck out with my current but I have also tucked in the past. Not sure what I want to do going forward but likely not tuck.

    Comments?

    Extra Bicep and Rib protection are included in the "Russian Spec". If you don't want the segmented shoulders, you should specify that, as they are also standard in the "Russian Spec" version. In my opinion, the segmented shoulders do help you feel a less stiff.

    Regular shoulders vs. Segmented:

    2400ca.png2400 chest protector with "Iron Man" custom colours and russian upgrade (Includes heavier plastic, extra cushioning just below the shoul… | Goalie, Chest, Protector

    Also note above the regular bicep protection (left) vs. "Russian spec" extra bicep protection (right).

    I honestly don't think that shoulder lifts/extra width/raised edges is worth it. To me, the angle a shot would have to come at that a goal would be prevented by any of those mods is so rare, but the extra weight and restriction on head and shoulder/arm mobility is constant!

    I tried tucking vs. not tucking and still prefer wearing all my chest protectors untucked. If you're concerned about it shifting, you can request a "fight strap" be added to the bottom of the spine at the back - you can connect this to the loop at back of your pants even when untucked.

    Huh? You've been able to strap the nylon buckle down to your calf since at least the G3s, and you can see the Kunlun Redstar goalie above did exactly that.

    The stock length of the nylon knee strap was not long enough to make it there without excessive tightness, from my experience. I had to open up the knee stack velcro and shift the position of the strap end to get it to work - ymmv.

    For those who follow...I contacted Warrior directly via their website and was told the following RE: the G5 gloves:

    "In the G5 trapper, we have two versions the G5 Pro trapper and the G5 SR+ Trapper. In regards to the G5 blocker we have the G5 Pro blocker and the G5 SR+ blocker."

    So I guess that answers my question! :D

    The Sr+ versions will not have Hypercomp in them (Warrior's composite/carbon fiber material); only the Pro versions will.

    They’re really slow to update their site. I think their newest line, the 2500 (Pads and gloves), is like five years old and still not up on their site. It seems they focus more on social media, posting all products that go out each week. They have plenty of new features available that are not reflected on their website.

    Sorry about your experience. However, the integrated collar isn’t much in terms of protection. A separate one would be more protective.

    Yes, I have a separate one. My point was that if you're making bespoke units, there should be communication to the customer at some point along that chain that a feature is no longer available and they dropped that ball on several occasions with no effort to correct it.

    The social media thing was what prompted me to take action in the first place - if you tell me post facto a feature is no longer available but post numerous pictures of other units with that feature to your instagram, then it looks less like a "this isn't available" and more like a "we messed up and don't want to fix it." Otherwise, I would have lived with the fact that it didn't come as ordered.

    I just looked over the Brown website and noticed they no longer offer the built-in neck guards. They were really the only brand that had that feature that I can remember. I wonder if it had to do with the gap in protection between the ring of foam of the throat area and the chest protector itself. It was only connected by a piece of fabric with no padding in it. A separate throat guard would have padding in that area. The main advantage of the attached neck protector was not having to carry an additional piece of equipment around. I ordered my 2100 with the neck guard included. I did get dinged a few times in that gap over the years. I removed it last year and wear my Maltese throat guard with the 2100 now.

    Oh it was finally updated with that information?

    I had a whole saga with them not including the built-in collar on my 2400 C/A that I ordered early this year, when:

    1. It is shown as the default configuration on the website for the 2400 C/A.
    2. The radio button existed in the online customizer for it.
    3. At no point during the build process was it communicated that it was not available.
    4. The finished item was shipped to me without a picture of the unit and without my knowledge (I had to call them several weeks past their estimated "completion date" to ask if it had shipped yet and even get a tracking number from them).

    Ordering it with the built-in collar was one of the features I most wanted from the unit, and if at any step it had been shown that it was not available, I would have not ordered it. I only found out it had not come with it when I opened the box, much to my disappointment.

    Unfortunately, the response from Brown was sub-par - basically told me that I'd have to use it as is and get a separate neck guard, so I eventually had to file a dispute with my CC company and they resolved it in my favor. I'm still sad about it because I was really looking forward to having a chest protector made exactly to all my specs and I lost a lot of respect for Brown in the process.

  15. I was using a 580 Lefevre and now I am in a Hyperlite which is more of a 590. With the 580 "thumbs-up" break, I felt like all of my fingers were helping to close the glove; the break aligned with the crease across my palm. It didn't feel to me like my thumb had anything to do with the closure - it was just pointed straight up to stay out of the way. With the 590, I feel like the main difference is that I use only my thumb and my index finger to really put the pressure on it to close; the rest of the fingers don't seem to be doing much.

    I did break in my new Hyperlite glove using my method (handheld garment steamer in a sink + towel to cover it so the steam stays in, wrap closed tightly with a flat bungee; repeat for a couple days) last week and used it in a few games this past weekend, but it is a pro palm so it is still a bit stiff and needs to be worked in more. Maybe once it is as broken in as the 580 Lefevre then my entire hand will be used to close it.

    One thing I definitely noticed in my games this weekend is how much easier it was to play the puck with the 590 compared to the 580. Having the break in the palm line up with the pocket closure gave me a much better angle and grip on the stick with my glove.

    I’m not disagreeing with you about that, I’m saying that the coach shouldn’t have said something publicly to begin with. Comes across as an ass IMO

    My thinking is that he did it as a way of staving off a thousand variations of "So we all saw Fleury misplay the puck there. Do you think that cost your team the game tonight?" That's got to be more aggravating to both a coach and the player.

  17. 14 hours ago, southpawtendy48 said:

    While it is true they most likely would've won, pretty much saying you lost because of fleury sounds like a load of BS to me. We all know how jarryLehner played but the coach didn't seem to straight up call him out. IMO that doesn't seem like something that should be said publicly.

    There were less than 2 minutes left in regulation when that misplay happened and gave Montreal the tying goal. Just a huge deflation of morale for the team who was doubling Montreal in shots trying to extend a 2-1 lead, and then your goalie does something "dumb" to that causes it to go to OT. With the way Vegas had been dominating play to that point, it is highly unlikely that Montreal would have managed a tying goal any other way. They were definitely still thinking about it in the overtime period and it showed on their lapses in concentration leading to the OT goal for Montreal.

    If you're talking about how Lehner played in the first game against Colorado, he wasn't fantastic but the entire team was a shitshow in front of him. Most of those 7 goals he could have done precisely nothing about.

  18. 14 minutes ago, southpawtendy48 said:

    Quite the dick move by Vegas’ coach to publicly state that Fleury’s misplay carried on into OT and basically was saying that’s why they lost. I still don’t agree with sitting him last game but Lehner did very well… and it yielded quite the quote from him too

    FYI I’m absolutely rooting for montreal but it’s hard not to root for Lehner and Fleury, the only likable guys on that team in my opinion

    I mean it's 100% true; Vegas wins that game if Fleury doesn't misplay the puck. I'm a huge Fleury fan and think he could probably have shaken it off for game 4, but giving him a game to relax seems fine. From the videos of Fleury in practice after game 3, he has already moved on from it. Also, I think the idea was that Montreal had stymied Vegas in games 2 and 3 so effectively that putting in a new goalie and giving the rest of the team a mindset of "let's support him because he hasn't played in a game in a while" was a good idea. Granted, it did not really work out that way (in terms of goal support), but a win is a win.

    I think Lehner finishes out this series now (win or lose), and if they win they'll go back to starting Fleury against Tampa/NYI.

    IMO you need two things to break in gear, moisture and heat.  You can do that by wearing and using the gear, or you can expedite the process by simulating it with steam.

    For the chesty, I wouldn't go as far as wearing it in the shower as it'll get soaked and take forever to dry out - the nylon used in these things is not exactly water resistant/repellent.  I take skate lace to tie the arms flexed, then hang it up in the smallest bathroom with a shower in my house.  Let the shower run on hot so some steam builds up on/in it and repeat for a few days.

    For gloves your goal is to work in that crease/break in the palm where it folds.  This area is made up of foam, felt, and glue that needs to be worked in.
    My local shop has a baseball glove steamer and a skate bake oven that I will run them through before first use.  There's several other methods - like running hot water through it, or leaving a towel soaked in hot water on it that essentially mimic the same thing.

    To get the glove to open up, I'm guessing you keep it tied shut when you're not using it, and it's "remembering" that shape because the break is still relatively new.
    I think you'll have to manually work it open when you're not using it.  Put the backhand on your knee and jam it so it's "over-open" with your hands manually, like you're opening a really big bag of chips.

    For gloves, I've found that one of those portable garment steamers works really well. (e.g. https://www.amazon.com/gp/bestsellers/home-garden/3737831)

    I put it in the sink to keep it upright and have the steam vent going into the cuff opening of the glove, then cover the whole setup with a towel to keep the steam in. A couple 15-minute rounds of that, then tie up the glove closed overnight. Repeat for a few days and my gloves are all broken in easily.

    Having said that, Felury's gaff was one many of us have done.

    Made me feel a lot better about the goal I gave up with 3.4 seconds left in the first period in my game last week (sadly we did not go on to win like Fleury did).

    Pros - they're just like us! What a world!

    So 4 games for Scheifele. Thoughts on this…? Again recusing myself on this, given my allegiances

    I think it should have been the length of the series, but with the way Winnipeg played the first game, it might still be.

    I can see the DPOS saying mitigating factors of things like no elbow raised, "glided" from the dots, etc. In my opinion those are outweighed by how far he came from to lay the hit and not even trying to play the puck on it. That the hearing was by telephone indicated it would be <=5 games, so 4 is one under the max he could have gotten once they decided that.
