My Vapor 90 and 2-piece Vapor blocker came in today.

    A few first impressions:

    1. Closure feels pretty close to my True 12.2 580.
    2. My glove closes decently, but my stock Mach closed better out of the box. Still worlds ahead of all CCM gloves I've owned out of the box though.
    3. The pocket doesn't open super wide. I know 580s aren't known for having being widest presenting gloves, but it seems a little smaller than the True 580. The pockets are about the same depth.
    4. The internal strapping felt really off when I first tried it. I compared it to the True and they're pretty much identical, so I adjusted the Bauer so the straps had the same tightness as my True and it felt 100x better.
    5. Speaking of internals, a big reason I wanted this is because I wanted Bauer internal materials with a break I love. This glove does not disappoint in that department.

I have a game on Monday, so I'm going to work the glove a little to see if I can get it into game shape in time. I felt my Mach was good enough to use in a game right out of the box, I don't feel that way about this glove. It's not far off, but if I had a game tonight I would not be using it.

Did you add the DCT (new poron material) to either the thumb or the palm?

From what I can see in their story is that the Pro+ has a horizontal bar that goes across the elbow floater that adds rigidity.

First picture is the Pro+ where you can see the plastic that spans across. Second picture is the Pro where this is absent.

It almost looks like the Pro+ adds space between the floaters and your arms. Similar to how the old mechanical arms functioned. I don't know fi the the RX3 line was the same either, but I'd guess maybe.

That was my question answered in those pictures :)

I'm not in the market for a new chest protector, I just wanted to hear what they'd say and hoped to get more details about the differences between the pro and pro+.

And this is the their new customizer, too. Launched with Axis 2 and people had loads of issues with that. At least the old style of customizer loaded for me. It seems hit or miss on Firefox and Chrome with me.

Funny, the link on the CCMHockey.com main page advertising the EF6 customizer takes me to the EF5 customizer.

Are you using Firefox? @ThatCarGuy suggested using Chrome and it looked night and day better.

For people who can't find it, try https://customizers.ccmhockeyapps.com/order/client-choose/EF6 for Total Custom and https://customizers.ccmhockeyapps.com/order/client-choose/EF6TCP for Total Custom Pro.

EDIT: Monkey and Pure customizers are up.

    https://www.goaliemonkey.com/ccm-extreme-flex-goalie-equipment

I'm using chrome for my browser; the official CCM customizer is just not good.

The problem with the retailers customizers is that if you are trying to order it as a set you cannot change the color layouts for each piece individually, like you can in the CCM customizer. You'd have to order each piece separately instead of the "full set" option. For example, the CCM logo color you choose for the outside gusset of the pads is actually the color that will be on the face logo of the blocker/glove. If you want them to be different colors, there is no way to specify this in the retailers full set customizer.

I'm glad to see they can spend all this money on r&d but can't update the shit customizer....

I'm trying to use it now and it is so bad. Slow to update, rubber-banding your selections back to various colors and then giving an error that the colors overlap, weirdly continuing to highlight the areas after you've made a selection so you can't actually see what the final design looks like without glowing outlines. They really need to get it working better.

  7. I've had an excellent experience with my custom Bauer chest - hyperlite body with pro series arms, beefed up shoulder floaters/biceps/forearms. Never gotten a bruise through it, very comfortable, and comes with an elastic strap to attach it to the back of my pants to hold everything together (I wear it untucked). I tried a Passau chest and it was very comfortable, and had good chest protection, but the arms were lacking in protection (to me); I got several stingers to the bicep and forearm areas in the course of a single warm up, and the back of the arm strapping was not as well done as the Bauer, in my opinion.

  8. I thought that, too, based on my experience trying on the stock 591 at the store. But then I won a CCM set in a giveaway and got the choice between Eflex5 and Axis 2 - I chose Axis 2 because I figured I'd get a bunch of specs I wouldn't normally use (like the 591 break) just to try them out and, if I didn't like them, I'd sell them a few months later.

Shift to now, where I sold my brand new True set that I had ordered because I like the Axis 2 set that much. Maybe I got lucky, but I am using the 591 break with a pro palm and it closed well out of the box. I baked/stretched it a couple days before I used it on the ice for the first time, and it closes easily and perfectly for me. Consider me converted to a believer in what CCM is doing - I have always been a 580 guy and I am excited to try their 581 break on an Eflex 6 set.

oh, yeah, squishy vs not-squishy.  It's a thing.

I wouldn't order Velocity pads again.  Maybe SLR? But honestly, I want to try Bauer or True.

I have WAY more hesitation about switching the mitts, especially the trapper.  I've honesly never put on another trapper that I felt good about.  There are some True trappers around here now but they are difficult to close in the stores.  Blockers mostly bug me about the shape/look than feel so not too worried there.

The stock True gloves in the store (non-domestic version) feel much worse than the one you will get if you order custom. The PX3 that I got (580 break, game ready extra palm) closed easily and perfectly right out of the box.

  10. For sale is a brand new set of True Catalyst PX3 gear: pads, glove, blocker. Colors are White/Navy/Red. Specs below.

Pads: 31"+2.5, single break core, single break outer roll, stiff thigh, weave on the sliding surface

Glove: Game ready extra palm, 580 break

Blocker: Straight finger protection, half-piece cuff, bindingless face

Asking $2300 including shipping in continental USA; if you're in Canada or father, we can work something out on shipping. Ships from Houston, TX.

I heard in the InGoal Mag youtube video that the Bauer Pro Series isn't current NHL regulation, it's the arms I think. Not that it matters to most of you but if you like streamlined or play Junior/College, it might be a deal breaker.

You could still get the Pro Series body with Mach arms in that case. I believe that is how James Reimer has his chest protector set up now.

  12. Full set of custom Bauer Mach goalie gear in White/Navy/Red. Used 1.5 years 2x/week.
Specs differ from stock where noted.

    Pads:
    100 degree (vapor) boot angle
Pro stock calf wedge and pillow (flatter than stock calf wedge)

    Blocker:
    Vapor 2-piece construction (1X feel)

    Glove:
    Added poron to palm
    INT internal hand size

Original toe, boot, and tune fit connect straps included.

Asking $1800 for the full set. Ships from Houston, TX.

How is thing holding up for you? I purchased a 2x pro before COVID started and i never got around to using it until this year. I played 2 games in it and could not get comfortable. I also had a few stingers in the arms. I went back to my old Bauer Ultra Pro (beefed up goalie crease version) that has been amazing for me but is well past its prime. Im back on the market again and this unit was one of the first things that came to my mind.

You can order the Bauer Pro series at retail now - it's just a regular custom order, and you can have the reinforced shoulders/biceps/forearms for no extra charge. You can also mix and match - I use one with a Hyperlite body and Pro Series arms with all the beef ups, and it has been a tank for me.

Just realized I forgot to respond to this

Sliding edge above the knee break is very stiff and solid.  See pic below.
The area from below knee feels like typical 12.2/20.2

    image.png.fe020e2ff5a6b8fd6a6d2e7bacbf1c75.png

Knee block is same assembly as 20.2  Sewn in so it moves less, but not as stiff as Bauer

    FRS is same as 12.2

Thanks for the information! My set just came in to TGC, so I should receive it next week. Then I've got some decisions to make about which set(s) to keep :)

  15. Does the concavity of the boot channel offset the thicker boot on the PX3? Otherwise, it looks like the below knee break on the PX3 is higher up (i.e. the knee block is higher) than on the 20.2. I actually ordered mine down a size based on conversations with the folks at TGC and from these pictures it looks like that was a good idea.

    Hey everyone,

I am in the midst of shopping for a set of pads. I am seeing a lot of senior gloves and blockers with an option for intermediate palms. not being the biggest goalie to ever walk the earth(5' 7'). I  was wondering if this is worth it?

I, too, am 5'7" and have hands right on the border between int and Sr. sizing, according to the guides (7" from wrist to tip of middle finger). I ordered an int palm in my Sr. Bauer glove and find that it is actually a little too tight for my preference. I don't know if it's because I got used to playing with a Sr. palm all these years, but I would like a little more room for my fingers; they feel a bit smooshed in the int sized liner. And, honestly, it did not really make it much easier for me to close the glove anyway, which you would think would be the biggest benefit of an int palm in a Sr. glove. But gloves are super personal preference, so if you really like a tight-feeling glove, then you may have a different experience :)

  17. I believe the HPG12A was the last CCM pro stock pant that had the flatter thighs, before the rule change in 2017 going to the rounder thigh protection on the pants. Here is a video explaining some of the differences: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qGCjJAnI_mE

For sizing, they go by the fit number as @BadAngle41 said above.

Fit 1 = Small, Fit 2 = Medium, Fit 3 = Large, Fit 4 = XL. Sometimes you will see a +1 (or +1.5, +2, etc.) on the sizing (e.g. Fit 3 + 1) which refers to additional length being added to the pant. If you're a very tall but comparatively skinny goalie, you might want a Fit 3 + 1 where the waist fits like a Large but the length will be more like an XL.
