So a nagging injury to my left arm that makes catching pucks extremely painful and really bad carpal tunnel in my right hand that causes it to go numb within minutes of holding my stick, not to mention an ongoing frustration with playing the puck on my "unnatural" side, has got me seriously considering going full right. Has anyone made this switch or at least tried it with good results?

Thanks for the help guys. Much appreciated.

Couldn't find any US retailers, but here are some Canadian retailers assuming you have the newer Vertexx Edge holder:
https://www.hockeylion.ca/products/stepsteelgoalieedgefathttps://www.crowssports.com/products/step-steel-fat-max-bauer-vertexx-st-edge-goal-steel
https://www.thegoaliecrease.com/product/step-steel-for-bauer-vertexx-edge-trigger/
The Step Steel Fat...that's what I was thinking of. Thanks!

So I'm looking to get back in net after a few years off and I'm wondering if there are any current options to get a 4mm runner in any of the newer cowl-less boots? I remember Step used to make a 3mm to 4mm runner, but I can't seem to find much of anything out there now. I was always a Bauer skate guy due to fit and profile, so is my best bet to try and find an older pair of Reactors? Shortly before I stopped playing, I did try a pair of Vapor 1X with the 3mm runner and was not a fan. After 3 ice times with them I could not seem to adjust at all.

Glad I found this thread, was just about to post asking where all the old guys were at...lol. I've been out since right before Covid and looking to make a comeback @ 42. It won't be my first comeback, but I know it will be the hardest as I haven't touched ice in over 3 years and when I turned 40, everything seemed to head downhill fast. Covid has really made me lazy and I feel like right now I miss hockey more than anything and need it as a motivator to care more about my nutrition and fitness. Not that I will play competitively, but we all know how a shitty performance gets us thinking about what we can do to be better.

Happened to me several years ago. I had to wait until I was healed up before I could skate again. I couldn't seem to fit anything inside the boot of my skate and I lost quite a bit of stability during the 3 month healing process, so I needed some rehab as well.

My son has had his Premier 2.9 for half of last season and the start of this season, they are already breaking down. At this point I may be looking at another set of pads the same size. I hope the new axis line has the durability issue resolved
Might want to try a pro level pad going forward...they typically last longer

bending happens...however I'd definitely take issue with broken welds..that's a safety issue and is typically warrantied against by most manufacturers as a defective product. The cage should dent on impact but also should stay together.

I think that was just a personal move by that goalie. These look like any other bungee toe tie system out there now. I've been looking into these quite a bit over the last couple days and they appear to be very Optik like in design

I believe you are correct.
The standard/stock +1.5 on pads was massive for me. I couldn't move and had to sell my gear, what a shame.too small for me, I had to go up a size in stock to get the best overall size but then would be slipping off the bottom of the knee stack.

+2.5 is a massive thigh rise in warrior. Warrior +1.5 = CCM +2 if I remember correctly
Not in my experience. I've had G3's, GT's and G4's in 33+1.5 and have had P2's and EF3's in 33+2. Definitely a difference for me with the CCM's being a little taller. I went with the +2.5 because I also had a set of G4s in a 34+1.5. The overall size was perfect, but they were just a little too tall in the knee. A 33+2.5 should have the overall size I got from the 34+1.5, but with the appropriate knee sizing.

The glove on the new GT2 is questionable. We got our demo set and myself along with other associates agree that when you snap the glove shut, you hand is being pushed backward out of the glove. Cranked the straps, mucked around with it and still felt like your hand was slipping out. I think that design needs to be tweaked.
Anyone considering buying that glove, please do not buy blind and try it on beforehand.I feel like the G4 is the same way

I've had 2 fusion and 2 Bauer 961's. Couldn't tell a difference between the two and from what I understand they use same mold, materials, etc... They are legit pro masks. As far as NHL quality...no idea what that means, nor do I think that matters. The NME10 was being worn in the NHL for a while. I had one of those and the chin cracked from a mid-level beer league wrist shot and not just the gel coat...all the way through. The Fusion masks are a great value if you like 961 style masks. Might I also suggest OTNY as long as your in that price range. Better quality, service and custom fitting.

The T5500 was my favorite glove until I tried the G3 Pro (75 degree liner). I thought they both felt very great, similar, natural for my hand motion, and the G3 Pro had immediate snap closure out of the box. I guess this is just further proof that gloves are 100% personal preference.
No question that gloves and chest protectors are the most individual pieces of equipment out there. They all seem to feel different to everyone and that has a lot to do with our various sizes and shapes. I've had every Warrior glove going back to the Swagger and since the G2, they just don't feel anything like a traditional glove like the T5500 to me. Not saying they don't perform well, quite the contrary, but going from one to the other would be a bit of an adjustment for most people I think. That's the only point I was making.

Sorry for waking up an old thread...
I bought a Warrior Ritual G3 Pro catcher from goaliemonkey during the boxing week sale. (even though after the shipping and taxes across the border, it doesn't feel like much of a sale)...
The catcher just arrived yesterday. I tried it on for the first time and it feels totally different than the Vaughn T5500 that I have been wearing.
However, the G3 comes with a 75° removable liner. I can order 60° and 90° liners to be put in instead (assuming they are available still).
My question is: Which break angle has the closest feel to the Vaughn T5500? Can someone with experience with both gloves please help?
Thanks in advance.
60 I believe, but the G3 is never really going to feel anything like the T5500, just a completely different style of glove.

Impressive, yes. Is it a good thing for Warrior and Warrior customers if they are not busy enough to warrant long wait times?
There's a reason we don't see their gear on TV (sticks aside) and I think that may very well correlate to why you can get gear from them super fast. It may, just as well, not correlate at all. But, it's possible.
Let me stress, this is not me hating on Warrior by any means.
I'd be willing to bet Warrior is one of the most profitable gear manufacturers out there.

Wait times suck! The idea for this thread is to create a central repository of wait times for custom gear (any and all manufacturers welcome) and, in the process, give transparency to the prospective customer. My personal POV is that the wait times in our industry are just way too long on average. I hope this thread can bring awareness to this issue and also give back some knowledge and/or leverage to the customer.
Please post whatever wait times you've been quoted for custom gear that you've ordered or discussed with your local retailer / sales rep., or with the mfg directly. Obviously, wait times change all the time based on demand for the product, time of year, whom the retailer is, level of pro orders, etc. For this reason, if you can remember it, please include the details of the time of year of your order! I'll kick it off with a couple (not so recent anymore) examples:
- True Skates - Spring 2018 order. Was told 6 weeks by the retailer, but that they'd been receiving them faster lately, in about 4 weeks. The 4 weeks turned out to be a good estimate.
- Protechsport Mask - Jan 2017 order. Michel is a bit notorious here, but at least he is up front about it! He quoted me 19 weeks before he could "start the process". In reality, it was 17 weeks before he started it, but by the time the mask was finished and ultimately shipped/delivered to me, it was closer to 25 weeks all-in. The mask is great, don't get me wrong, but I don't think I can put myself through this again, haha.
Michel's masks are something you order and forget about until the glorious day it arrives on your doorstep. The guy does it as his side job, so I've never worried about the timeline, just trust that I'm going to get another awesome mask within the year...lol. 22 weeks is average for him and well worth it in my opinion.

Padding is recommended to be replaced every year by most manufacturers. I dont see why the shell would breakdown, but Michel himself would be the best resource for your questions. I honestly dont think he would steer you wrong.

Yessss.
Aside from the split T in the catcher, doesn't look too different than the G4. It will probably keep the same spec changes of the G3->G4. (Hypercomp, Active drop)
Doesn't look like the outer roll has been reduced and can't tell if they've carried over the airslide tech.
That definitely looks like the G4 glove. Could be they just took the finger curl out, which I think was something they did from the G3 to the G4.

My recommendation is always go for the full kevlar or the full fiberglass. Michel said the protection is the same for both, it's just a weight issue and the inbetween one (some kevlar) doesn't make enough of a weight change to justify the added cost. So either go cheap and get the fiberglass, or go all out and get the kevlar.
I went full glass and haven't regretted it. It's a solid mask. I do get slightly more ringing than in my PC, but otherwise they're pretty equal.

That's correct. I tried to submit an order the other day and was told I would have to wait for the G7's. I was told the G7 customizer will launch next week.
