    That's correct.

Bauer could make the retail employees, customers, etc lives easier if all Supreme branded skates followed a fit pattern, all vapor etc

I don't think they ever changed the fit of the goal skate line since they started the Vertexx cowling.  If memory serves, my One80's fit the same as my Reactor 6000's.  I guess now with no cowling and resembling player skates more it could get confusing, but I felt the fit profile was the same between Supreme and Reactor skates.  Maybe they just need to not name player and goalie equipment lines the same damn thing.

Oh Bauer... can't make anything easy...

From what I've heard from people who have them, the new Vapor goal skates are just a re-branded and updated version of the Reactor skates.  Fit and feel are the same, but the skates are lighter with the Curv composite, no cowling and 3mm blades.  I don't think the fit was supposed to be in line with the player skates at all.

If I ever left Long Island it would probably be for somewhere in the Wilmington/Wrightsville Beach area.  I went there a lot when I was at Camp Lejeune and LOVED the area.  My wife is a teacher so she could get a job pretty much anywhere but my job only has two Comm Centers, here on Long Island and the other in San Francisco.  I have no desire to move there.

Wilmington's a great area, we go to Wrightsville all the time.  I have a friend who just left Lejeune for Pendleton, got to be a culture shock.

Yea its really good down there.  What part of NC are you in?

25 miles outside of Raleigh.  Originally from Peekskill, NY, but its been a good move for me. Got the beach on one side, mountains on the other, 6 hockey rinks within a 35 mile radius, and a growing area economically.

Small hockey world too, not uncommon to run into a couple legends like Rod Brindamour or Glenn Wesley at various rinks around the area.

Open skates and fill in skates are free.  Its just league fees for my team that I have to pay.

Goalies are a commodity around these parts (NC), I don't know anyone that pays league fees, unless he's new and doesn't know any better yet.  Normally the captains are scrambling to lock in a goalie for the season, so the last thing they are going to do is ask for money.

I tied a skate lace under the heart guard and around my back. I got inspired by Jake Allen's belt, but didn't have an extra belt lying around.

It finally got the V6 C&A fit my body snugly. Really enjoyed the unit. Haven't worn my Brian's in awhile, it will be interesting to back and compare them more now

how do you like wearing it more snug?  Do you tend to feel more shots?  I wear my V6 2200 snug, which I've never done with a chesty before and I tend to feel everything.  I had been beefing up areas, but I caught a glimpse of myself in the glass the other day and realized that I look like a box lacrosse goalie at that point, so I decided to strip everything off and go stock again.

I'd say Curv should have the opposite effect of that. Funny you mention V6 2200, I think it looks like a V3 which I think the V6 borrowed heavily from.

We'll see.  I guess it depends whats underneath, but its just been my experience that when relying on a solid, plastic like protection in the arms (V6 2200, Ritual Pro) you get a lot more mobility but tend to feel shots a lot more too.

  8. It looks mobile and light.  Reminds me of my V6 2200 and probably going to have a similar feel.  I like the Curv composite in the arms, but likely going to lead to some stingers.

I don't want to turn this into a bash thread, but I'm disappointed in the "high quality" shock cord.  It's already fraying and losing elasticity after about 6 months of playing once a week.  I know it's cheap, but still.  I know these things have been said before but there's just so much "other" stuff going on with that company that takes away from some of their good ideas.  Seems like their brand name changes per social media platform, some vulgar-language filled social media posts, constantly changing pricing, out of stock issues, favoring pro customers and those through other sites like GGSU and lastly their promotional strategy (this one gets me).  It seems like they run sometime every damn week or day so why am I going to buy something now when it might be cheaper later?  Openly admitting that if you just talk to a Rep you get a discount code?  Why would I ever buy anything at full retail price from them again?  Rant over.  I should really keep my concerns to myself because I really don't know what it's like to run a small business, but man that stuff gets under my skin.

Did you get the shock cord sleeve that he sells?  maybe you should have gotten the shock cord sleeve...JK  Seriously though, I purchased the same shock cord and some connectors on Amazon for like $10-$12 and made 3 sets because the shock cord will fray and/or stretch out.  Its not hard and took about 10min to make all 3 sets.

What I meant by the rounded shell comment was that all of Protechsport's masks seem to all be some kind of rounded off shell.  That picture of the Belfour mask looks like that classic angular Harrison shaped shell and I know Ed wore a Warwick for a long time.  The description on Protechsport's website says triangular vents but I can't find a picture of the shell itself.  I could be 100% wrong, I have no idea.  That very well could be Protechsport's Harrison styled shell.  I would love if someone could confirm that.

Michel sent my pics of the shells, I can no longer access that particular email, but it looked Harrison all the way, which is why I chose that one.  Michel has a 961 clone as well, I have kicked around switching to that instead.

What type of calipers? Where all did you measure?

Would you mind sharing pix of that process? I am not relishing plaster of paris all over the place...

I was afraid my wife would try to suffocate me with the plaster and wasn't keen on covering my face with Vaseline.

Here is a youtube video that shows how to do it with cardboard.  Let Michel know this is how you want to do it and he will send you pictures showing you exactly what to measure.  He will likely send you this as a guide from the Sportmask site. http://www.sportmask.com/goalie-masks/masksizing.html

  13. I'm 2 weeks into my wait time for a Protechsport as well.  I went with a full glass Belfour model.  I didn't want to do the mold either, so I made some calipers and took all kinds of measurements of my head and face and sent them to Michel.  He said he should have no problem finding a comparable head mold which is all he would do with an actual mold of my head anyway, hence the custom padding description.  My Sportmask VX-5 is brand new and so far the best mask I've ever had (Hackva, Fusion), but I thought its always good to have a back up and at an unbeatable price, now would be a good time to get one from a legend in the business.  I actually don't mind the wait because it gives me plenty of time in case I change my mind on the model or decide I want to throw in a paint job.

I think they did have Subban for a bit. They also had Chris Mason & Tim Thomas .

They seemed to come out of no where to me, have 3 guys win the Smyth wearing their masks and then they didn't market too aggressively after that.

From GSBB posting memory, great masks

I agree, they have a great product and in my opinion the best off the shelf mask one can get for the money.  However, recently I was in the market for a new mask and Sportmask was #1 on the list.  I struggled to find any in the states and for me to buy one from Canada it would likely have to be certified.  My LHS is a Sportmask dealer and told me that they have been horrible to deal with lately (not answering phone calls or emails).  I reached out personally to see if I could get a cat eye cage if I purchased a certified mask.  I received a response fairly quickly, but was told they wouldn't sell me one if I purchased a certified mask.  After a little push back about me being an adult player and not needing a cert mask in the U.S., they said I would have to remove the cert stickers and send them pics before they would sell me a cat eye cage.  It seemed like something they were very reluctant to do and had me wondering if they have had some legal trouble.  Regardless, they seem to be falling by the wayside...very little stock available, no social media presence, etc... could very well be another mask maker slowly going under.  However, at the end of the day I was surprised to find a non-cert VX-5 at TGC and got a great deal with the exchange rate.  I love this thing and so does my daughter!
