Could be the balance or the feel... but most NHLers figure if it aint broke (and in most cases it isn't bc it helped get them to the NHL) then why fix it? Most of the Bauer sticks are skinned as 2S Pro. The spine does sacrifice some strength and consistency for the achievements in light weight.
