Did Lefevre update the 12.1 design right before the True buyout?

I recently picked up a Lefevre 12.1 blocker on clearance and noticed something odd when it arrived. The photos I've seen for the 12.1 look like this:

But when it arrived, my blocker looked more like the 12.2/PX3 design

12.2 for comparison

It kind of looks like they'd moved to the new design before the True acquisition, and just rolled it out for the end of the 12.1 run. Did people know about this? Did I just get a mutant Lefevre branded 12.2?

The index finger protector on the first/stock pic you provided is weird.  It's also missing the binding on the sidewall.
As far as I know, there are two options for that finger protector - straight and curved.

The set I received in August 2020 was ordered with straight finger protector. 
Comparing it to your first pic, it's a little bit sharper as it gets to the toe of the board.
The pic of your actual came with a curved finger protector.

My guess is that the stock photo you provided was their first attempt at the "straight" finger protection, and they ended up settling on what I had below.

This is the difference between the 605 and 595 blockers. 605 had the binding on the sidewall (like Eflex 4) and 595 didn't (like premier 2)
