I think that the choice of a brand of goalkeeper equipment is least influenced by advertising policy and a certain "face of the brand". at least among the adult contingent of buyers who make an informed choice for convenience, performance and other characteristics, and not because Vasilevsky or Price plays in this brand. all of the goalkeepers listed in the topic have their own high rating in the league as well as their fans and it is difficult to single out the most influential of them in terms of brand promotion

Can't help but thinking I had a bisnes idea worth of a few bucks on my hands when I first made my PE sliders about three years ago. Should've just invited it a bit more to make it as universal as possible and sell them to every second goalie out there.
But then again remembering that whenever I've shown my plates and telling how nice it is to slide around effortlessly nobody wasn't interested. Before now that Warrior has these out.
Yet following these conversations in many places there's a lot of people who don't believe in the idea at all and try to take it down with "you'll slide over" or "how can you stop" or "you don't need to slide that much" or the classic "don't skip the leg day and you don't need these"...
The basic thing why anything innovative or new is so hard to bring into the business is that many of us are so sceptical as long as nobody (good enough) tries and proofs it to be good. Konekt is similar example, remember the first comments? And still there are comments like why are so many people selling them after a few ice times, there has to be something wrong with them.
Get them plates to try them out at least, I think they are kind of game changers at least from jenpro. I can't compare to Bauer as haven't tried them, Vaughn has good slide on their Quick slide material (same as Brians' Primo) but I would still wrap the knee block with plastic sheet on them too because of the stabile sliding from beginning to end that @CJ Boiss mentioned. Actually I've found the slide to be best when you shuffle your crease in the beginning to have a little snow to start from. Snow on crease is a constant thing after that and no surprises on the slide.
because goalkeepers are even more conservative people than the manufacturers of equipment for them

So do you want the plastic and foam to stick out of a pad or what?
he wants the pad to be sewn from hundreds of individual pieces, each stuffed with reindeer hair

judging by what I see, Hypercomp is the same polypropylene as CURV. just a fancy commercial name. great work as always!

That's good to know. If the Supremes both slide better and have harder rebounds than Vapors, I'll use Supremes.
Please note that I am talking about the first generation Supreme and the second generation Vapor. Those are the ones I owned. on the second generation Bauer skinned to cortech.skin.st. and the gliding of this iteration of the skin was worse than that of the first. I can’t say that Vapors, as another line of pads in itself, glides a priori worse than the Supreme line

Vapor pads can bend more inwards than Supremes can. I wouldn't be averse to trying Vapors, considering the rebound characteristics are the same as the Supremes, but finding used Vapor-line pads in my size that don't cost an arm and a leg on Sideline Swap is a challenge. At the same time, there are 2 Supreme-series pads that could be within my budget soon.
In my experience with the Supreme 1 S and Vapor 2 X Pro, the Supreme has stronger and better glide and rebounds. and I would never call them the same or comparable. on the other hand, the Vapors sit much more comfortably and comfortably on the foot and really flex easier

So the über-hard rebounds Bauer has are a function of pad core? That is interesting.
IMO

almost two years have passed since the device was repaired and put on the ice. and since then it has been my favorite C/A. light, mobile, cool and impenetrable like a tank. almost impenetrable. in the last two ices, I received a couple of very painful injections from high-level players (former juniors) in the collarbone and chest area. without injuries and even bruises, but it was quite painful.
I carefully examined the device to find and eliminate the cause. the cause of the collarbone injection was in plain sight and consisted of several factors. firstly, structurally, this area is not covered with HD foam or plastic / in the photo below it can be seen between the throat, chest plate and fin
I took the old Bauer neck protector
which I wanted to restore earlier, but my whole experience with using such protections is not very positive, so I abandoned them a long time ago.
took it apart
inserted under the chest plate C / A and sewn to it
"ears" stuck out a lot and even rested against the shoulder cup, so they were cut off
the second reason was that the elastics on the device had come to an end. they were fully stretched and the device just hung down, exposing part of the body. so they were replaced
now the clavicle area that was previously open has additional protection, as well as the sternum area

I am a big fan of equipment and I am always interested in technical solutions and materials used from different manufacturers. never had Warrior gloves so their internal structure will be interesting. more photos. As always, I follow your work!

Maybe Brian's operates on the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" philosophy. I wonder if it is possible to spec a Brian's pad to get Bauer-like rebounds.
if you are interested, I would like to answer your question in more detail. I was a huge Brians fan...until I tried Bauer. I had an Opt1k and it was a very good pad. light, comfortable, with good rebounds. and Primo's sliding was definitely better than jenpro. I even made an integrated knee block on them like a Stabilislide on the Bauer. the first and only Brians pad in the world with such a knee block. You can read about this in my topic in the Mods section.
then I got the Supreme 1S. they were in a terrible state, but even before the repair I made them some ice to compare with the Opt1ks. and it was just incomparable. rebounds outside the blue line, sliding 2-3 meters. since I've taken all these pads apart, I don't think the Brians will give the same rebounds as Bauer without drastically changing the core. I've also seen COR.Tech Skin "from the inside" and I don't think that the merit of hot rebounds is in it. the rigidity of the crust is much more affected. I also had a 2X PRO second generation skin. and here they are, sliding much closer to Primo Brians, but the rebounds are still much hotter, although not as hot as on 1S
-
I haven't worn an SLR but its concept and outer glide materials are similar to the Opt1k I had. The rebound of the Opt1k is much less than the 1S and 2X pros I had. I agree with the comment above that Bauer is a completely different level of play

my nickname also migrated from other forums, where the letters are the first letters of the name, and the numbers are the generation of my favorite car, which I still own

My biggest issue with most retail chests (besides Warrior and Mach) is that there’s usually a gap at the elbow break where a puck can fit during dead arm blocking once the chest is broken in. It’s 2 weeks later and my arm has only now stopped swelling but still has bruising all the way through. This incident resulted in me coming up with this monstrosity.
I haven’t built it yet but an order has been placed for a X3 Pro+ chest. I’ll probably also throw some modified premier shoulder floaters on it
on the Supreme line, based on my experience of using both the C170 and NXG never had these problems, based on the design of the elbow bend protection that completely covers the gap

and there is. this model is from the good old days when the league was concerned about the health and safety of goalkeepers and not the number of goals scored

edited*** confirmed story, but was long before the new chest.
There was a story, and I want to say it came from InGoal, but the story highlighted Victor Fasth and his Bauer 1S chest got pulled after it was previously accepted based on how he looked on tv.
Fasth confirmed to InGoal Magazine late in the season that the NHL cut the shoulder pads on his chest-and-arm unit this season, but that didn’t happen until after he was already off to an 8-0-0 start to his NHL career. To be clear, Fasth wasn’t cheating. The NHL approved his gear, as it does with every piece of goalie equipment, and neither Fasth nor the Ducks made unapproved alterations. The shoulders simply looked bigger on him than expected.it's funny because I own a NXG Fasths C/A and it has a KW signature on it

I own 1S, in the summer I dry in the open air under the sun. no yellowing. I don't think ultraviolet has anything to do with it. probably higher drying temperature
