I thought he was in an i8 with Sportmask. The Pro's Choice round holes by the ear make sense now. Sportmask ones are ovals.

He dropped sport mask 1/2 years ago along with eyecandy painting. Which sucks since they do awesome work and have always painted his mask until now.

I've been using the M5's for a couple months now and the durability seems to be pretty good. The material on the face of the pad (I'm not exactly sure what it's called) appears slightly dented looking after taking shots from pucks but, no real damage is done to the pads and it appears a similar thing happens with the Machs. To give you an idea of my schedule, I play A level travel hockey and practice 2-3 times a week with an average of 1-2 games on weekends, and no significant damage has been done to the pads at all in the time I've used them. I have the matching glove (I have yet to have a stinger in the glove) and blocker as well and they seem to have the type of build quality you'd expect from a second price point Bauer pad. I have no idea if the set will hold up long term but, as of now I can't see any reason I would need to switch due to durability issues.

Have you had any buyers remorse with going with m5 gloves and not Mach? Don’t know if it’s worth spending more money on higher quality gloves vs M5 gloves if you aren’t seeing high caliber shooters.

    Bauer leg pads are 1.5"

Here's an image of my 33+1.5 GT2's and my Small Ultrasonics. Pretty identical. Bauer's play slightly taller due to the steeper boot and straighter thighrise.

3X will be closer to the Warrior since they have the flatter boot.

Did you notice a big difference as far as stiffness between the warriors and Bauers? I would expect the supremes to be stiffer just don’t know how much stiffer the vapors are vs warriors or even if they would be stiffer.

  4. Y’all right I meant FTK. I’m in 34 warriors and fit pretty much perfect maybe even on the upper side of the knee stack but splitting hairs.

so since Bauer only does +1 do you guys find the thigh rise on the smaller side? My 1.5 warriors are pretty perfect and I don’t have the widest flare. I remember my +1 9k’s thigh rise was kind of short.

  5. My atk is 20/ 20.5 if I remember correctly. I found some 3x that are brand new for $600 in large but worried it would be too big. Guess I could try on some hyperlites and see how they work. They are white so I could probably find some all white Mach’s or hyperlites gloves for cheap.

I had been sidelined twice for over a month each time, but otherwise than that I've been playing about twice a week (one easy skate, and one really challenging one). It's held up real well.

I've used Warrior G4 Pros a few times, and the 3X felt to me a bit stiffer if that helps.

Did they hold up their stiffness? I know warriors seems to lose their rigidity over time even the pro models and that was one of the big complaints with the g4's. as for sizing i saw that the boot is flatter so sits lower on the skate which led some people to sizing up. Did you have to size up or did you guys with your normal size? I'm wearing a 34 warrior and generally 34 in other pads, don't know if ill need a 35(L) in the 3x.

Ill be playing roughly the same amount 1-2 times a week one upper level intermediate and one level below.

  7. I know these have been around for a while but any updates on the pads and how thy have held up for you guys? I'm trying to decide whether or not to pick up some 3x pads or m5s. I know these are supposed to be softer than the m5s but how soft is soft for Bauer. Right now I'm in warrior G5 pros and they have softened up a bit and want some stiffer pads but the warriors have been the stiffest I have ever used so I don't have any reference point for Bauer's

With new pads coming out seems like you can find some 3x's for a little cheaper.

Have any issues with the blocker edge wearing out quickly? i use paddle down often and seem to always get wear on the edge of the blocker. I'm mostly wondering if i should spring for the extra cash and get a  mach blocker and glove. I tried on the M5 gloves and they felt good but side by side with the mach i could see and feel a little bit of difference in the material they used. The M5 glove closed nicely off the shelf and didn't fell too thin. In the past ive always thought a blocker is a blocker and haven't really paid that much attention to them.

  9. Selling DS 999 full set. Pads are barely used and well taken care of. Glove is perfect with no wear and blocker has one minor wear spot on the blocker from paddle down. No holes in blocker palm. Pads are in great shape with normal use wear. One pad has a minor skate cut which has been repaired and doesn’t hinder pad play.

  10. For you guys with the M5's how are they for durability and anyone have the matching gloves? might be pivoting from Brians to Bauer. I know the durability and craftsmanship wont be nearly the same but its hard to justify spending 2500+ on pads when i play mid to lower level beer league maybe 2 times a week. Trust me I want to spend that but the rational side of me is overtaking.

I've always been leery of Bauer since there has been some durability issues but that was some time ago. I've been reading some good reviews of the m5's and seeing that I'm looking or a stiffer pad they might be in my wheel house. I'm currently in warrior G5 pros and are softening up a little bit.

My main concerns are durability, can I get 2/3 years out of the pads with the same schedule of 1/2 games a week? I'm also worrying about the m5 glove protection. I've only used pro palm Simmons gloves and pro warrior gloves. I'm not facing super hard shots but a couple guys play down in our league and can shoot it. I've yet to have a stinger in my warrior but have not taken a hard shot into the palm always the pocket. I've thought about getting M5 blocker/pads and a Mach glove, but if the protection is ok on the M5 glove i can get both gloves for the price of just the Mach glove.

  11. I’m mostly looking for a pad that is a little stiffer than my warriors and will retain that rigidity. I’ve have my warriors for roughly two years and the boot has gotten and little softer and the thighrise has softened up a little bit. The pads are single break and pretty flexible at the break.

Honestly these are the stiffest pad I’ve worn and haven’t had the chance to try anything stiffer and whether or not I’ll like a softer or stiffer boot. All I know is that I don’t like soft pads. My last set is a velocity knockoff and the pucks would either go right out of reach leaving me to scramble.

would I be able to customize the gnetiks enough to make them stiff or at that point would it just be better to go with optiks? I’m mostly looking for hard rebounds

i haven’t had the opportunity to wear a bunch of different pads so I honestly don’t really know what will work for me and what won’t. Kind of a crap shoot ordering pads that you think you like but them not working out.

  12. Hey guys, I’m starting to plan ahead for my next set of pads and pretty sure I will be going with Brian’s. I’ve always wanted a set and decided to treat myself.

right now I’m in G5 pros and like the stiffness but I can feel they are starting to soften up a little bit. My main question is are gnetiks the same stiffness as the warriors and the optiks even stiffer or are the gnetiks softer than the warriors? I’ve looked up the key differences of the two lines but without being able to handle both I don’t know what each pad feels like.

I’ve come from Simmons 999 pads that were really soft to warriors which were my first “modern” style pad and the stiffest I’ve used.
