Everyones opinion on these pads still good? I've been in an EF5 set that I honestly love for over a year now but I'm coming to terms with the fact that they might be just a bit big on me. Been debating on a used set of Ultrasonics or these. I've used the blocker in the past with an older set so I know how that plays but I'm a bit worried about jumping down to that 2nd price point when it comes to durability and protection.

Ive only had mine for a couple weeks but so far so good. I wouldn't worry about protection with the pads and blocker, i cant speak on the glove since I snagged a mach catcher. Each set of pads I have used has gotten stiffer and stiffer and these feel great for how stiff they are. My last set were warrior g5's and the overall pad stiffness is night and day from the Bauer's.

I ended up getting the 3mm blades profiled at 24/28 and dropped the sharpening down to 7/16 and it felt way better but the blade dulled out by the end of the skate it was really weird. Ended up talking to Tyler from Tydan and he got me a 4mm blade and profiled it at 20/28 should hopefully have it on Monday

I messed around briefly with 3mm blade and while the shuffling was awesome and effortless i felt like i couldn't get a strong push with the blades. i normally use 7/16 on 4mm and had to go even sharper on 3mm to get close to the same feel. I believe the Detroit2 profile is close to that, i cant remember off the top off my head and it feels so much better i feel like i wont catch my toe while moving around.

Did you profile the blades as well or just left them stock?

I do a lot of toe pushing so i wanted some more meat on the front of skate I'm using 4mm step blade along with Detroit 2 profile and the movement is night and day. Like you i had the same feeling of my toe was catching the ice and i couldn't move that well. The DET2 took of some of the front of the blade and make me feel more like I'm putting pressure on the heel/midfoot and my toe of the blade can pivot and move without the catching feeling. I would suggest to go slow and see what works best for you, i know SAM is pretty aggressive in the toe area and it seems hit or miss for users.

  4. My Mach is doing the same thing I've only used it a couple times but i had a puck come out the side when i thought i had it covered and luckily my D man was standing there and skated off with it. I also cant pick up a puck with it to save my life, my warrior gives me no issues and has a better seal.

The Vapour gloves have always had smaller pockets.

The difference in pocket size between my Mach and Hyperlite is massive.

I can't see your picture for some reason.

How are you liking the HL, going to stick wit hit or switch back to the mach?

  6. Anyone play with the X5 glove yet? I know general consensuses is use pro model glove and i usually subscribe to that thinking, but InGoal review mentioned a beefed up palm on the X5 model and I'm still iffy on the Mach glove. I cant seem to get comfortable in it and I'm having issues catching with it, 90% my technique and fault but i feel like I'm fighting the glove and hoping i catch stuff.

Tried on an older vapor glove and it felt bettor on my hand but the pocket seemed small to me. My LHS doesn't get new gear that often so it will be a while till I can check out the new line in person. Could always sell the mach and get a HL2 glove

  7. While that would work and how I used to carry my pads, but i have bungee toe ties so I guess it would work just bounce around a little. After looking at your picture do you just put some skate lace on after to carry them?

On another note I read about how bad the stock cords were and almost every review I read has stated the stock bungee cords broke easily. Well, the first time using the pads the knot on the end of the cord came undone I'm guessing during the game. When I took them off one side was velcroed and the cord was just looped through my skate. I have some other toes ties ill probably slap on there.

  8. How are you guys carrying the pads I’ve seen several suggestions.

I tried something like this and it seemed to work well. Only hesitation is I’ve seen several sets of pads, mostly HL/3x with issues of the stitching coming undone on the professor strap anchor. Idk if over time with repeated load on the area if it will tear.  I just added a key ring metal loop and used my warrior carrying strap

  9. Did the index finger protection  break in and move out of the way? the whole "channel" where the stick sits in cluttered a bit. I was also getting some finger tip pain like the fingers were too short I'm guessing the palm just needs to break in since my hands are on the smaller size and no way needing an XL palm.

Since this was my first time using and they are still breaking in I'm not making a call on anything yet.

  10. Pads and blocker came in today and had first game with them tonight.

pads: felt awesome barely took anytime to get them dialed in. Slid great and I really like the hard rebounds. One play the guy tried to wrap it around and I was down against the post and it hit my pad and shot out of the zone. I did feel a little slower and clunky but I think as I get them broken in more and use to them I’ll be gtg. With the stiffer thighrise it seemed like I was actually able to close my five hole better than my larger thighrise warriors.

blocker: I’m almost loving it but the damn finger protection and the little sidewall on the finger protection SUCKS!!!! I could never really seem to get a good grip on my stick and had to fiddle with it. The elastic that holds the finger protection on is useless and when I tried to grab my cage to pull my mask off I couldn’t because the flap was cover the ends of my fingers. The index finger protection has that dumb side piece that gets in the way of the paddle and I know people have complained about it before. Rebounds were awesome and blocker felt good.

im still on the fence about the glove I was messing with it all game to try to get it to feel ok and kind of took the joy out of it because I was focusing on my glove. My bottom two fingers also started to go numb. I’m going to keep trying and if that fails I’ll try a hyperlote glove. I tried on an older model vapor glove and I liked the way it felt.

He's dialed in - it happens. The last few times in (fairly) recent memory where same: Giggy with the Ducks where he won the Conn Smythe in a losing effort, Kipper a few times with the Flames and Roloson with the Oil. Maybe Bobs can get them over the hump and win it (instead of just getting to the dance). Going to be a big blow if Barkov is out or hobbled.

I guess I'm team Cats based on who's left. Vegas was a feel good story at first but with the way they unceremoniously jettisoned Fleury its tough to root for them. Carolina - eh. I like Brind'amour and can appreciate what they've built in their market without a superstar but they are just kind of meh to me (plus they have that 2006 (?) Cup in their pocket). I'd be okay with Dallas I suppose (Jimmy Nill/Detroit connection - perhaps he was the brains behind Holland as he really seemed to nosedive after he left) but they've got the '99 Cup. Win one for Pavelski would be alright - dude always brings it come playoff time. Just feels like FLA would be best feel good story out of the bunch and I'm all about the feels.

Ya what Vegas did the MAF kind of soiled them for me plus I'm a kings fan so they can kick rocks. It would be cool however if they won and quick got his name on another cup, the kings did him dirty and would love to get him on another. It would be even better if he played in the playoffs and carried the team as a middle finger the LA but i doubt that will happen.

looking like florida vs vegas in the finals which is cool since they are "smaller market teams and not the usual suspects of original 6 powerhouses.

I feel like they should have put three available loops to use, with an additional one between the two existing ones.

Mucking around with it, that middle area is closer to how Warrior gloves strap up and is a better anchor point. It anchors down closer to the wrist and the smaller part of the hand. Really allows you to lock your hand in.

Warrior really did nail down the no wrist strap design out of the gate.

Anchoring down closer to the wrist seems like it would feel more secure since your wrist is skinnier than your hand so if its tight at the wrist it cant slide over the wider hand. i honestly didn't even know there was another anchor point on the glove, guess i have to be more observant.

Do you tighten down the finger strap too?

  13. I'm coming from a warrior glove so not a traditional wrist strap and my previous gloves that did have them i never really tightened them down. I'm guessing i just have to get used to the feeling of the glove. It just felt like the glove was inching too much when i was opening and closing it like each pinch of my fingers  it moved the glove forward. Ill do some more messing with the straps and see if i can get the right fit.

I have the "wrist" strap going straight across so it more over the back of my hand. Ill check for other connection points and see how that goes. Thank you for the suggestion

@seagoal do you keep the thumb and pinky loop tight too? i think that is what I'm getting from your post.

    Yea he is.

Since he has dressed as backup in the playoffs IF they win would he get his name on the cup? i forgot the requirements for goalies don't they have to play a certain # of games to be considered?

  15. Need some suggestions from you guys. This is kind of jumping the gun but i tried my new to me Mach glove last night in warm ups and it felt like it was going to fall off my hand. The glove was used one other time from the seller before i bought it so still in the break in process. I am able to close the glove fine without any issues but it feels like it is barely on my hand and it felt like if i took a hard shot to the pocket it would pull the glove off my hand. I messed with the strapping slightly and it felt like the glove would be too tight if i tightened it down anymore and wouldn't allow my hand to move fully. I'm thinking of loosening the finger strap and tightening the wrist/backhand strap  to allow hand movement while keeping it on my hand. To give a better picture it felt like every time i closed my glove on shots the glove was inching off my hand, every open and close it would push the glove up.

Any suggestions, just break it in more? I know this is the first time using it but unforntuely the only ice time i get to mess with it is during games so getting it dialed in quickly would be nice.

Side note do the finger loops inside the glove, pinky and thumb help with fitment? i messed with them a little and don't know if i did them too tight or not. I love looking and new gear and trying stuff but i honestly usually just get something and rock it and make it "work". My warrior has been the first glove that felt like i could open and close without issues.

  16. Fellas,

recently picked up a Mach glove from SL , it was only used once and then sold. My issue idk if it’s my technique or the glove just needs more time to break in but when I close it the edges of the T/pocket don’t line up. It’s easy to open and close but when I squeeze the front of the glove T sticks out more and the thumb side of the T doesn’t meet the edge, if that makes sense.

is this normal? I don’t want to break the glove in incorrectly. I have been just opening and closing it to get it to break in more.

I have one, and I like it well enough..  Fits well without any alterations.  I have it over an XL size Vaughn Ventus LT90.

Is it too baggy, dress like? I’ve worn cheap jerseys and they had weirdly short arms and were very baggy if that makes sense. I’m not looking for a slim fit or anything but sloppy excess material just looks bad.

Just got my Mediums last week.  Spent a LOT of time deliberating between M or L. Very glad I did. The mobility is really good .  They do feel a bit clunky just because of how stiff they are and my history with squishy pads, but oof, they'd be a mess if L.  The 1/2 inch or whatever loss of thigh rise coverage is a very fair compromise for all the other benefits.

Ya the larges just felt massive on me because of how stiff they are. The thighrise seemed like it would poke a foot out in front of me. I want smaller for mobility and i think my BF is just wide enough that the shorter TR should still close the 5 hole

  19. How are hockey trons goalie cut? Reviews are hit or miss that people like them or they are junk and fit like crap. I just need some semi cheap solid color practice jerseys. I havent bought jerseys in a while and last ones i got were reeebok premiers
