Was fortunate enough to pick up a new NHL spec CCM CA. Doesn't have a fit 1/2/3/4 tag, but looks/fits similar to my large Bauer Pro Series. Won't be able to get it on the ice until later this week to do a comparison.

Can you add a picture or two from side/inside too? The shoulder area seems pretty well wrapped around.

Every time I see this CCM Pro I can't understand why they have left the collar area so open? The heartguard could be a lot more "U" shaped to cover up those corners and from what I've modified some C/As that area doesn't really affect anything mobilityvise but is very sensitive spot to get a puck hit to.

I have seen many times that in Suomi they put advertising on goalkeeper pads and I like it more than the standard graphics of manufacturers. why do you want a geometric graphic instead of some kind of picture that you can print on a promotional tape and completely cover the pad?

I could go with some graphics or picture too, but in most cases such as that NYR I don't like how it splits when down in butterfly. So the image should be something you can split in the middle and it still some way works when rotated and flat to the ice. That then needs even more of a graphical skills to be able to create something like that. Then again I don't know yet what are the requirements and limitations on printing techniques. The sheets that the printing is done are 70x50cm (100€) or 70x100cm (150€). Material is thick vinyl and the adhesive is sticky and elastic.

Why I don't want to cover the whole face then? That is the side rolls are somewhat difficult or even impossible to tape over so that it looks ok. And I think that the white side roll will apply to the result easily. From the bigger sheet size you could add the boot to be covered.

  3. Turning around over the VE8 graphics came into this, it's not completely what I'm after but not bad. Except the drawing skills I own 😂 Have no skills and didn't really invest any extra minutes to the effort.

The light grey squares need a bit more thinking and the boot edge stops too hard to the whole white.

  4. Once again I just didn't mean to but when you are offered a proper gear for a (what you consider) fair price. You have to buy it just to not regret afterwards.

So I bought some Warrior GT2 pads in 34+1,5 as lately I've been struggling with the length of my GT pads that are 33+1,5. And I wnated to see if there was some other pros in GT2  over GT. Side note that I had the G5 pads for some time but never felt the leg channel worked for me and at the same time the GT pads have felt so good.

Then about the title is that the GT2 pads are ex pro of some level and have had atleast two different ads on the face. Which in change has left and will leave even more of the glue residues. As the pads are also all white which I really don't prefer I thought I'd order a graphic of some sort printed to that similar ad material and replace the ads with that. That would save me from cleaning the residues, get rid of the ads and update the all white looks.

What I'm really poor is desinging graphics. I can tell from picture if I like the graphics of some pads or whatever but I cannot create anything I end up liking.

So post me some ideas for pad graphics. The area to be covered is shin - knee rolls - thigh. Boot and side rolls are excluded. Black-white-grayscale preferred but genuine addition of a bit of highlighting colour is a possibility. Geometrics that would work from stance to BF. No tribals thanks.

Here's an example picture of how the ads cover the pad.

    image.jpeg.6e91e3146889915aa61b0e232e2550bc.jpeg

Edit: just made some quick paint drawings and thought about what I do like and one basic graphic theme I like a lot is the Vaughn VE8. I don't want to copy that as is but something similar. SLR2 graphic is neat too but more of a tribal which isn't for me at all.

  5. This is so easy add-on that it beats out the knots.

For me though, I love the loops and the contact they make to the glove. Best thumb loops ever are on Vaughn when they had 3 straps and the loop was almost as long as my thumb.

And for those who make knots and are happy with that, like me. Just make one knot per strap and don't even try to knot the straps together. Trick to get them right is check first the right fit, then pull the strap out and make a knot about where you had the right fit. Notice that the materials where the straps come through are not fixed so you have to push them in as if you had your finger pulling the loop.

Those clasps just sound so easy! But I wanna stay old school and make knots 😆

They get plenty tight enough but it doesn't last, especially if I move with some force or make some sort of impact on the glove.

I like your idea but I wonder how difficult it is to get your thumb/pinky through when putting the glove on?

Took me a while to find out what you meant, haha.......what are you holding?

    @Hockey34

It's the wrist strap pull loop. Picture is from my Ultrasonic refurbishment where I made the loop shorter as it was way too long. You sure can pull the wrist strap tight with that 😆

For the finger loops; I do them snug so that it feels good and then forget them. This setting is still loose enough so that I can easily lure my fingers into the loops.

  7. Warriors are pretty wide, but taper upwards so the waist opening is quite narrow. Bauer Vapor 1X (maybe 2X too?) is one of the widest I've ever seen, It's super wide and the top edge of the pants opens even more.

But if you don't tuck, isn't the wide waist going to cause some inteference between pants and C/A?

I definitely plan to find some sort of life hack for these loops so I can keep them both tighter for longer.

Do they loosen up or you can't get em tight enough? Are those still the normal style of string through a hole and knot to hold the position?

This is how I tie them and they do hold forever. It's just the most basic knot you can make. And don't even try to tie them together.

I'm self-censored too. It's f***ing annoying at times but I'm getting used to it.

  10. You can always add one day propping and one day close-up routine. Close-up meaning you close the glove hand inside properly in a way that feels good to your hand and then tie it up in the exact position with some skatelace or nylon strap with buckle. This tie up must be done with care so it is tied just the way it feels good. It takes a lot more work to fix a glove that is somewhat f**ked up on the break.

That way you get both extremes prepped and the glove will open and close nicely.

Photos would've just helped us to give you some points to focus at while working with the glove. You can tell quite a lot from just how the jenpro on the palm has shaped over time.

This is always entertaining as how black and white these posts see the bungees. There seems to be no other option than stiff.

But for sure we have to remember the function of toe laces for pros, using them to push out from the post. Hell I can't even push myself out of the post as my BF doesn't flare enough.

Would be a million dollar invention to put best of the both worlds together. Lace to push off from the post and bungee to rotate the pad.

  12. In the Mods area there are Vaughn 1100 and Vaughn 2200 topics where you can check for some ideas about what's inside the glove.

If you can post a picture of the glove opened "normally" with glove hand and another one with the glove pulled wide open.

There are some issues in Vaughn gloves that affect the closure and 1100Pro is the SR level made overseas.

  13. From what I've seen it's pretty common that fullright gloves are way different than their regular siblings. They should be just mirror images of all the patterns used to make the glove but for some odd reason they are not.

For that Askarov glove pictured the thumb area seems very deep and narrow and the break line is closer to wrist just like 580 is. Interesting is that I remember him using CCM 600 before which isn't anything like that.

Nope this is a ccm/kenesky frankenchest. As far as I know Ullmark was the only one to have the new unit

What part is Kenesky? Arms have CCM logos and so does the heart guard. And it definitely looks the same as other CCM Pro chestys I've seen.

As long as we are talking about the picture that RedX posted earlier. You are mixing things with Copley picture?

    Looks enormous on him lol

Look how far the arms come down the wrist

It's also hanging really low which was with the AB Pro due to the back strapping of the shoulders. But isn't this new Pro series with the same system that is on Eflex/Premier/Axis which shouldn't be hanging down like that?

  16. I assume you want to use the strap behind your knee and not down to calf?

If you have a speedy stitcher then it's easy to add something to the edge binding to attach the strap to.

But other than that It's not easy or convenient at all. The original cradle was sewn in and awfully thick. I removed those from my XLT28 and it was a huge improvement for knee pads to fit inside knee area.

Edit: you had the leather strap points still available, so never mind about the stiching thing...

I feel like going paddle down throws you pretty far off balance and makes it unbelievably hard to rotate. This is my personal favorite substitute for paddle down

Predators rule out Juuse Saros for rest of regular season

This image compared to being paddle down, what more could the paddle do than the leg pad is already doing?

But going paddle down you open up a lot of the goal above you? And as @ThatCarGuy said you position yourself into an unstable stance from where you need more time to recover or move.

  18. Is there something extra or added to the bicep area? Looks like it is block by block design but was it already in X3? Atleast X3 had that extra flap going from wrist to bicep adding some extra to elbow too.

GT2/G5 in comparison is/was with one piece bicep protection.

I might get another 591 to mess around with at some point but for the time being there doesn’t seem to be a good way to make these things work even lacing it yourself or messing with the tee. That said all of the custom 591s look to close incredibly but the retail ones are garbage

So they know what they need to do and still they want to produce retail as garbage for what reason? To get rid of retail customer or what. Just can't understand the logic behind this. Not pointing to any of us either that we should understand.

This is somewhat the same thing that big brands produce PRO gear for NHL and maybe some other professional leagues and then create something else for retail. Spend some serious funds to design a lot of extra gear. Why wouldn't the semi-pro guy want to use NHL level Pro gear? And is it somehow lowballing the NHL guys that people can buy their level of a gear at retail shops...

Could you @ThatCarGuy at some point compare the custom and retail 591 gloves side by side? Is there anything different by what you see. Both are made overseas so that isn't an option.

And just to say it out any glove can be made to close, and open wide, easily. Most of the stiffness with CCM is probably from the T.

Cloutier only challenged benches after kicking the piss out of their goaltender, and even so, wasn't a constant hot head during his playing years.

Compare that with Binnington and his practically immature cheap shots, coupled with never answering the bell, it's a stark difference.

Dude came flying over with intent. I miss this era of the NHL.

Watching this clip actually doesn't make me miss those days, beating guys lying down on ice to back and neck. Fight is a fight but it ends when either one falls down and you don't beat after that. Octagon is different thing.

Looked like there was a pure intention to injury Salo in that clip whacking down to his neck.

We have some players that beat the fallen opponent in the NHL, rat moves I'd call them and point to some directions...

... CCM really has to return to the drawing board or review their manufacturing and nail this aspect of their catchers down, IMO.

This, they try to figure out something new and revolutionary while the basic product is failing. The 591 and 581 and whatever could be the next super seller. But only if they could change the structure to be soft. It would be 592 that is really and truly butter soft, with just the same design as 591 that could be it. And only for it being super soft to use off the shelf.

It's not even difficult to do and only needs a few minor changes. But they don't seem to realize what they need to do first.

Current bruising from the professor strap buckles.

Definitely getting the Vapour one because this isn't ideal.

And I don't bruise easily either.

I thought that the Professor strap was supposed to be below knee? 😁

But seriously the buckle has to make some hefty pressure at that spot to create a bruise like that. Same on the other leg too?

  23. Yep that was a whole set of G6 gear. It still might do some good for the marketing while Warrior is doing pretty well in my opinion even without any NHL visibility.

What I meant with the 1st Gen design is that a lot of outlook is from 1st gen pants and not from 2nd or 3rd. But still the thigh boards are definitely a new design for Warrior and not available from stores.

Surely this means warrior will be in the big leagues any day now

Those look a lot like Gen.1 design, though it's propably some test series designed to league limitations so it can be a proper mix and match of anything they have available and makes a good setup.
