    Frankenchesty alert!!

As you maybe might’ve expected, I was pretty disappointed with the arm protection on my v8 pro carbon, so I had an idea to pick up an optik2 chesty as they had velcro adjustable arms and also noticed added protection on the arms compared to the optik, so I took off the arms in the optik2 and sent it out to a local guy to get velcro attached to the v8, was $20 total plus buying the optik2 chest ofc. It isn’t absolutely perfect but he got the job done and I’m very happy with it!

What factors lead you to go with a mixed Brians - Bauer set? They look great combined just wondering what factors sold you on each piece.

Great question. It’s a funny story, I had actually ordered a full O2 set due to arrive in June, but when they were delayed they gave me the option to cancel part of or the whole order if I wanted to, and more info on the ultrasonics had just come out. I went Optik 2 pads instead of waiting for the ultrasonics because I wasn’t a fan of how stiff and straight Bauer pads are (tried 2x pro on ice) as I have a narrow butterfly and inflexible hips. I wanted a stiffer pad with a soft boot though, and the optiks had that along with being curved, which better fits my butterfly. As for glove and blocker, I went into my local retailer where I ordered the set through and tried on the US glove/blocker in store and was instantly sold. The blocker was rock solid all the way throughout, and had great wrist mobility. So far the rebounds have been really hot off of it as well, which is something I was looking for in my next blocker. As for the glove, it presents absolutely HUGE and the pocket is massive compared to the 2x pro, which was one of my complaints on the 2x pro. It closed great off the shelf and felt natural on my hand - still getting used to it on ice and breaking it in a touch more, but once I tune it up it’ll be amazing. One common theme between the glove and blocker that really sold me was the palms - they didn’t feel like they’d rip or get crusty like my GNetik IV palms, and they are BY FAR the most comfy palms I’ve ever worn, and they do a great job of drying out quickly. All in all, couldn’t be happier with how everything turned out. I’m getting used to the stiffness of the pads and how insanely well they slide, no complaints with the blocker, and a little more work with the glove and I’ll be all set. If you have any more questions let me know! Happy to help

Most frequently: Somerville, Brighton (Warrior), Cambridge, West Roxbury

    Less frequently: Southie, Foxboro

    What about you?

    Great rinks.

Most Frequently: Edge (Bedford), Belmont Hill
Others: Warrior, NESC (Marlborough, mostly for tournaments),
Tournaments: Foxboro, Walpole, Canton, and some NH rinks

Glad to see another local on here!

Oh nice. I never did get to play at XI. I mostly played out of raleigh/durham rinks but periodically popped in at Pineville.

I'm up in Boston now. Lots of rinks but all shut with no peep of when they are coming back online. Some of my teams are trying to put together low-key pickups as soon as allowed

I'm right outside of Boston, what rink do you usually play in?

According to the response I got from the Warrior goalie instagram, my set has not yet been completed, but should be ready soon (tm).

Awesome! Make sure to show em to us when you got em

My general rule of thumb is don't fix what isn't broken. If you want to tinker, I would suggest trying a single Anderson pad and not the 3X I get.

Ok, thank you - I want a much control as I can get so do you think I should leave it as stock with my hand as close to the board as possible? And I really like soft boots, how did you like the softest boot on your set?

Edit: Realized there is no extra soft boot option, you can ignore that part, I'm going with the soft option

The knee block is integrated into the core for a one piece design.

I slid around in a set when we had our trade show and I liked them.  The new knee block system is very nice.  Also like the strapping on them way more!

    @thebigm

Is there anything else you can share about the strapping right now?
