Look for pads that have the knee blocks top corner cut out. One reason I jumped for G5 is that. And it definitely helps that much. This is kind of weird evolution as on Warrior GT pads the knee block is smaller and I have no problem hitting it. Now the G5 block is bigger, corner cut and I still have no issues hitting it. Only asking for what is the purpose of the bigger block anyways?

I should also note the V7 set I close perfectly with the smaller block. Not sure if I explained that well

Ya I think that would do. I'm going to start doing some stretching exercisesto be honest because I think it's something I should be able to figure out easy. I'm not far off

As I've been playing more and more, I've noticed that it's relatively easy to.save both the high and low shots. Low shots either hit the pads or can be played.with the stick. High shots I can catch with the glove or bat with the blocker. However, shots between my blocker and pads or glove and pads are tricky to play. What are some tips for stopping the tweener shots?

I am in no way a good goalie on ice. But I've played player for 30+ years. I find it's all about anticipating the shots coming and when I can I go a lot lower in my stance to keel low pucks out.

I've also played ball hockey goalie for my whole life so I'm not a butterfly guy normally and that's why I play more of a hybrid style.

Ugh. I know.  That just makes my brain go a bit haywire though.  I'm so engrained with the idea of a "full set".  Mixing brand on gloves/pads has always kinda irked me, for no good rational reason, granted.

    Thanks buddy.

Best decision I made on this set, by far.  In retrospect if I could order them stiffer than Extra Stiff, I would. I do not have a wide butterfly flare by any means.  So my pads closing in the middle is pretty rare.  It does happen, but not all the time.  I make a lot of knee pad save, haha (thank you Warrior Pro +).  So stiffer pads don't mesh well with my body in terms of 5 hole closure. But, what stiff pads has done for me is make my mobility down on my knees way, way better and my technique in things like RVH or pushes left or right from a symmetrical butterfly way, way better.  Adding more mobility and more technique efficiency had far outweighed whatever benefit 5 hole closure might add. We also have sticks and knees to make 5 hole saves, so those are things I actively think about and incorporate into my game.

My hips just don't flare wide.  5 hole closure is not something I can rely on regularly, even though it does happen in some situations.  So that said, the other advantages of stiffer, firmer pads have added way more to my game and my confidence than I would be able to have with softer, squishyer pads, even though those pads might close in the middle easier.

I think my ideal pad at this point is super stiff with an inherent, dramatic S curve as its default.  That would be my dream pad now.

One thing I have found is I cannot full close my 5 hole with newer pads because of the knee landing being larger. I have a brand new set of V7s and a new set of SLR2. Both 33+2 and exact form but the SLR2 knee is a lot larger and stops me from completely closing.

But like you said I don't seem to be bothered much by it yet.

Still trying to decide which pad I like best before ordering a custom set.

    Tough life decisions

  5. I have this same pad and same size. Im 5 10". I use the bungee toe ties and tight, i have the boot strap not even tight what so ever, I strap the others normal and then the top strap I strap up higher. If I put the top strap lower or down I will slide off the knee landing. So I keep it up. Makes all the difference for me. I also have a set of V7s and its the same. I went with the suggested Vaughn sizing on all sites and this is what happens with me

    Reading through.

I have a 2021 custom 2400. I love the fact it's a complete tank. Never get hurt (yet). The only problem is what everyone knows and I knew is that its heavy. Also the arms are not very mobile. Wondering if there are any mods people have done with them to make the arms (globe mostly) more mobile? I usually make l alot of glove saves and am not a butterfly goalie. More of a train wreck scramble. Any input is appreciated.

I really want to make this one work because it's so nice to wear something you feel almost invincible in.

Played a few more times. About 20 now and feels a bit better. Maybe just wasn't broken in enough

Wrong thread but no biggie. Enjoy your new gear.

I hope you're a HABS fan and that jersey you're standing on is a Leafs one :D

Actually I'm a Leafs fan but the jersey is a TB one. Matched the colors best I think for my other company. I buy companies now based on what replica jersey would look best

Milk creates phlegm and inflammation in the gut. Parsley and sesame seeds have more calcium than milk and won't create calcium deposits between the joints that can feel like crystals creating painful friction and eventually damage. The plant based calcium is better assimilated by the body.

This is it. I really hope people decide to learn stuff instead of being stuck in old ways. As we develop more in life we can choose what we eat and not eat what we only can. Big difference

I'm in Switzerland, milk products are kind of a big thing here ;) But actually, I don't really like milk products, which I guess is why I had a calcium deficiency. Now I drink 1 glass of milk a day, and also some mineral water with calcium in it.

...people have been drinking milk for thousands of years, what's the new "science"  coming out?

Honestly I didnt realize a lot of people still drink milk. Nobody I know does. I haven't in 10+ years and never eat milk products either. I've had my blood tested numerous times and I'm not deficient in anything. Plants and a proper diet gives you everything you need

I've never had a heat problem either.  I think its something that is blown a bit out of proportion.

I did find the weight an issue at first coming from such a light Vaughn. Last night was game about 6-7 and I'm good now. Glove is back working. I've played ball hockey for my whole life (30 years ) so the glove is my main way of stopping a puck which is not butterfly style obviously. So the extra arm weight I noticed not having such a fast glove but i do now.
