  1. My first set I bought this year I just got white. We usually play pickup with my companies and one is the Tampa replica and one is the Bruins. So it matches both. I'm getting Seattle colors next possibly though.

At least there will be lots of southpaw pro returns when Leafs dump Hutch at end of season

I actually think they plan on keeping Rittich. They need a 1B for Campbell

    Glad you like the product

    How is the fit?

Fits good for a large i think. I still need to try my gear on and see. Bought the pad slider things too I'm installing now to try so I've been busy all day

  4. Came today. First impressions are man this thing is light. At the same time it's close to too big for ball hockey but just right. Looks like it takes up a lot of space in the net.

Still can't believe how light it is. Coming from this old as hell Heaton one it doesn't even weight more and is double the size.

Just trying it on now because we are on pause in our ball hockey league's. But I think i will like it

    I would say a large.

I'm 5'9 and my ice C/A is a large chest with medium arm. Our chest are usually shorther than other because the neck line is higher than most. The sizing is the same for the ball hockey C/A. I just tried a large to confirm, the arm a little long for me but they are adjustable, it can be shortened by 1 inch.

Your best bet is a large in my opinion.

Just bought the large. Can't wait to try on. Also couldn't decide on other gear so I bought a set of the sliders to install on my other plans pads i have. Will make a review when i use them

Yeah, do not leave your collarbone exposed while playing ice hockey.

I may or may not have accidentally broken a goalie's collarbone with a slapshot one time, because his chestie was too loose and he didn't have a dangler or neckguard with collarbone protection.

I couldn't even imagine. Wasn't even a hard shot from just a ball and I was done for the night. I'm way over protected in ice so hopefully never happens

  7. Ok thanks I see it now. I might do that. The clank doesn't bother me. I took my ball hockey one off years ago but wore my old chesty really loose. Took a ball off the collar bone and it made me throwing up feeling it hurt so bad. Put it back on and never bothered me after that know what COULD happen.

On ice I'm interested in the few ideas here because I do find mine gets in my way.

Plain impressive to read these when people are doing things and thinking what they do and why they do it. 👍

I have to take a picture of mine and give my input for the topic too.

Yup that's why I like to ask. I often think i am comfortable but then take suggestions from people and like it more.

  9. I absolutely hate playing 4 on 4 or 3 on 3. I've only been playing ice goalie for a few months but it definitely kills the fun for the night for me. Breakaway and 2-1 city all night. That or everyone just gets an extra few seconds in the pure slot to rip the puck at you.

I am in not spot to give advice because I'm not that good yet but I do play very deep in the net when it's 3 on 3 or 4 on 4 just because we usually play a shiny type game so people look to pass. I find it makes them in an awkward situation if you almost force them to shoot. Everyone loves to pass

I wear my dangler low and loose. Never had issues with it catching my chestie. Out of curiosity, how are you tying your dangler on?

Can't remember on my ball hockey mask because it's been years and it's done a different way. I'll have to check. But my ice one i just tied some small pieces of skate lace.

Suggestions? I'm new to ice hockey goalie and learn something everyday almost

  11. Just wondering what everyone does with the dangler if they have one. In ball hockey mine is lower and more loose. For ice hockey I have it higher and tighter to the mask. I'm thinking about trying something different because it catches on my chest protector sometimes.

    Any suggestions?

Previously I had a 99 Corvette, with it having a hatch, it was actually easier to get the gear in than my current, more family friendly car.

    Vipers are definitely cooler though.

Really liked the 99 generation vettes. A lot better to daily drive than this pig. But this one is something else

  13. Here are some more pics. There is not much padding at all under the floater and the issue is you can see that there are parts there that has easy spots for the puck to find arm. I am waiting to hear back from Vaughn because the shop I bought it from called and asked what options I had to add more padding. I really think retro fitting another shoulder cap somehow is the way to go though because I want to keep this unit, I love it other than that

  14. Will do when I'm home. I was just out trying on a non carbon 7 one also today and there didn't seem to be less padding there. Seems like just a poor design. Using the RG4 pro warrior one there were double shoulder cap pads and no way to get a puck there like this one.

  15. Going to look now. I am wondering if I should have got a Large instead of a medium. Im just about 5' 10 and 72" reach. Looking on the site they recommend 5'10 - 6' and 70-72" reach to take a large. I dont find this one fits me bad at all but maybe thats why I am getting hit in the arms more, maybe its not fit correctly. I went to the store today and tried the Large on and it also fit me fine when I adjusted it smaller and what not.

I am wondering my options as well. Hopefully think of something because this unit is great outside of that.

Another thing is I have the Vaughn padded shirt and it seems to fit well with this and there havent been shots yet in the arms elsewhere that caught me. Probably is possible though. But the shoulder is the bad spot. Im wondering if it has something to do with how Im positioned, and the puck is shot from the side. the floater doesnt seem to sit down well and leaves you pretty open for something with no protection. Here are some padding I took from the padded pants I bought and dont use that I am looking to use as well

Last thing is where Im still new to this, does this wrist placement seem like the right location?

  16. This is my favorite hockey to play

I play a couple times a week sometimes against some really really good players. Couple NHL drafted kids will come out sometimes too.

I play an aggressive odd style sort of what you are saying. I go down EVERY single shot into the butterfly and then react from there. The ball is way harder to track than a puck and goes much faster than normal puck shots and you often dont see it.

I usually use an older wore out set of soft pro pads (simmons 995 here), use an older style thinner chesty (heaton helite 4700 right now) and then the lightest ice hockey gloves and other stuff (Bauer something and CCM something now). I also have a Bauer NME 5 mask that I drilled the holes much bigger and a couple new ones to cut the weight down a few hundred grams. Its pretty light. Always use a loose dangler

If Im playing some serious games I have a pair of steel toe shoes I use because people hack a lot.

I poke check like crazy because there is not often people get a clean break from Dmen so they are usually pre occupied with the defender to notice.

Its super fun and with higher skilled players its very challenging

Here is a screen shot from an old go pro, not good quality but thats me with the gear Im using

  17. This is interesting. I have the VE8 carbon chesty and have used it about 10 times now. I have had a few in the arms already that were definitely not fun. The worst spot is right at the top of the arm/bottom shoulder. Right where I'm pressing i just got hit an hour ago and i expect a pretty decent bruise. I need to find out an easy way to mod it there because I love the chesty other than that. Feels great

I had this problem for a while too.

But lemme ask you this - if all pro grade equipment from the big 6 companies were only available at retail from offshore, would you stop playing?

If you answered no, then you obviously love this game enough to look past that. You would do well to recognize that pro gear coming from other countries is made fantastic. You're missing out.

I just think if you are able to afford it you should always try to buy NA made. Still have Bauer stuff as player gear. But overall it's what i like to live by
