  1. Anyone else ever take a shot to the outer elbow? I caught a hard wrister there this morning, kind of disappointed in the elbow cup protection on my warrior c/a, but poor technique played a role also so it's my own damn fault.

Pass across the hash marks to a shot just inside the far post. I was a little behind, so I chicken winged it and caught it flush on my right elbow. Immediate dead arm and I dropped my stick, couldn't finish the game from the pain. Anyways, 3 ibuprofen later and it's swelling up, but I have full range of motion again and it doesn't hurt that badly now.

  2. I've finally ditched my X900's as I could never get away from ankle discomfort, I set up a pair of cowling-less graf's last year and have started wearing them. Unfortunately my feet are killing me even after 6-7 skates. I've baked them once so far.

Can anyone suggest a set of insoles that would help? I have fairly wide/large feet (size 11 wide skates), not sure if that makes a difference.

I've also been looking around at some of the newer models, does anyone with wide hooves like me have experience with the TF7/9's from True or the Bauer Konect line?

I loved my 7500's and had no issues so that's why I went back to graf, but wondering if I should be considering something else.

Is something wrong with the RV3 (that isn't the price of new sticks)?

Sick find though. I usually get sticks from team end-of-season stock sell-offs. I've found it hard to replace my Alex Lyon stick from when he was with the Checkers though.

The Wings have an equipment sale every year, I'm local and usually go. Could pick some up for you as there's usually plenty of stock. Not exactly sure on pricing as it seems to change year to year.

All I gotta say is the players are lucky that they are a good team and winning games.  Imagine being a part of this marketing stunt if they were the Sharks or Oilers?

The guys in SDPN brought up a good point, this is kind of a shitty money grab by the Canes. Nothing like taking advantage of Hartford's misfortune and cashing in on an iconic logo that they killed.

Who was the last goalie in the NHL to use Warrior gear?  How many years did they pay fees for gear other than sticks?

Jonas Gustavsson for Detroit, around 2014-15 if I'm not mistaken. He wore the original Ritual series and then G2's. There were a few other guys around that time also.

  6. The next one, duh.

No in all seriousness I don't have a favorite, but there's been pieces of each set I've worn that I really loved. So I should put together a set probably....?

Old Reebok 580 was one of my first gloves, and it just worked so well. I've never been able to catch pucks as well as I could with that glove. I demo'd a 2X set for a few games, the pads just felt really natural and I played really well in them, they felt better than my G4's. Blocker I'm not too particular about but this has me thinking about getting a setup that works well for me, rather than being "loyal" to a particular line or brand.

  7. Stuff like this guys can usually get away with if they're actually, ya know, winning games. Shit like this on top of terrible stats is a ticket to the AHL. Probably where Losington needs to be at this point.

The fact that Husso is playing pretty well in Detroit has to sting a bit too.

You wouldnt drive a Corvette in the F1, you drive and F1 car its proven to perform for. You wouldnt wear Warrior gear in the Chell, you where Bauer or CCM because its proven to perform for you there. You wouldnt drive a Toyota Prius to police the city, you wouldnt taxi in an F150, etc etc. Silly apple and oranges comparison.

  9. This whole thing is just....incomprehensible. The 'Yotes won't even be able to have their logo at center ice because of NCAA restrictions. From what I've read elsewhere, their ownership has a sportsbook (along with their casino biz) so they don't anticipate a dropoff in revenue. Can't say I understand it all, but it's a pretty big black eye for the league, IMO.

All that aside, their new arena plans in Scottsdale haven't even been approved yet, so who knows how long this goes on. Man, what a shitshow.

Why the fuck would any goalie have gone helmetless when MacInnis was in the league?

These are players, not goalies. Andy Brown was the last goalie not to wear a mask, he retired in 1977 (only missed facing MacInnis by a few years!).

  11. There's a lot of really bad formulaic country out there, especially anything that's been played on the radio in the last decade or so. There's some great music from older artists like Kenny Rogers, Cash, George Jones, etc. Some newer guys are putting out good stuff as well, they're just not that mainstream. Tyler Childers, Jason Isbell, Ashley McBryde, even some of Midland's stuff is okay.

Anyways, back on topic. I just found Lorna Shore's "Into The Hellfire" the other day. Wow. Great song.

  12. When Jim Devellano dies, I'd like to see Fedorov's 91 being retired by Detroit. It's a pretty controversial topic among fans.

For active players, Patrice Bergeron comes to mind. Some of the players from Chicago's 2010's teams have a chance, too.
