  1. I don't have any advice on getting demo sets (I'd love to try a Mach demo set if I could), but I switched from P2.9s to a pair of 3S pads a little less than a year ago. I was overall happy with my P2.9 pads, but I was forced to replace them when they got ruined in a basement flood. I decided to try out the Bauers. They're a LOT stiffer, give much bigger rebounds, and are such much better and consistent when it comes to sliding. I haven't used Hyperlite/3X pads, but I'm sure the same would apply there too. Took me a while to get used to them and figure out strapping, but right now I'm really digging the set up. Oh, also, they pull the pay way up. So it makes the lack of additional thigh rise no longer an issue.
  2. This is what Ive done my last several sets. It has worked out pretty well, with the exception of the one time I decided to get a senior blocker instead of pro. First time I’ve felt shots through a blocker. Never making that mistake again.
  3. I had a Kenesky professor strap attached to my CCM P2s via the assembly lace. It did stretch the lace out a little bit, but I didn’t notice any issues with not being able to get the strap tight enough. My strap was elastic, might be different if it was nylon with no give. I don’t think it will be an issue with this set up. I think most of the pull from the tune-fit+ will be on the built in professor strap attachment point. It’s something I’ll keep an eye on and note in further updates if it becomes an issue.
  4. A couple observations from my first skate with the Tune-Fit+ strap. First, these pull the pad up on you leg way more than a professor strap did for me. I had to adjust the straps to make them much looser when I had knee pads on, and with my fat man calves they were still fairly snug and didn’t slip down at all. I’d say the push the thigh rise up a 1/2 -1” up over how I had my professor strap. This is the most snug Ive eve had this pad feel on my leg and I didn’t hate it. Even with how snug they are they still rotated well and pad mostly returned to its position when i got up from a butterfly (a little more of this next). With the pad being pulled up, the pad pretty much sat off the top of my skate the entire time. I use TNG spec ProLaces and have a decent amount if slack. With the offset toe and how these sit I feel like I need to cut out a lot of slack to get the bottom of the pad to consistently pull back to my skate when I get up. So I’ll make that adjustment for my game next weekend. My initial impressions are overall positive. The few things I didn’t care for I think I can fix by adjusting some strapping/toe slack. I did put my boot strap back on for todays game. I’m going to take it back off for next game as I don’t thing it had much of impact, either positively or negatively.
  5. So I received my TuneFit+ Strap and initially set itnup the same way that RedX did. Did some carpetflies, adjusted the strapping, but was never fully satisfied with it compared to a professor strap. I also didn’t like how it took up the spot where i like to bring the knee strap down to. Then I looked at how the Mach pad is set up and they have a velcro strap inside the outer flap. Inspired by this, I tried moving the outer knee flap down to the outer professor strap connector. I like the way this feels a lot more. I feel like I can get it more snug to the top of my calf without having to crank the tightness of the strap as much. I have a game tomorrow, so I’ll report back how it feels.
  6. Woah, that's awesome. Where did you pick yours up? I'd like to try one out. Edit: Of course, I should have looked before I asked, looks like most of the normal retailers have them in stock.
  7. Sweet set. Couple of questions. 1. How stiff is the thigh rise on the pads? 2. How’s the glove closure out of the box? And any pictures of how it closes? I was not particularly impressed with my CCM P2 double T 580. But most of what I’ve seen from True it looks like they’re much better.
