  1. It's surprisingly awkward trying to film yourself closing a glove PXL_20230912_235030283.TS.mp4 PXL_20230912_234806541.TS.mp4
  2. Ouch. Thank goodness for that employee discount then I guess!
  3. I wonder if the pro palm is the difference, then. Maybe I'll do a video similar to yours to show the closure. Mine's pretty damn snappy. Sucks that they couldn't seem to get it right. Oh well, hopefully your 580 arrives soon!
  4. So far for me, the ccm 580 break in is going very well. Not as buttery as your True 580 video shows but I've only had two skates with it so far. But based on progress to this point I'm confident it will get there. Mine's a pro palm as well. Compared to your 581 video though, mine seems to have broken in quite a bit better and I have not had those issues! Strange....mine wasn't custom though, and is just a game ready palm. Is yours a pro palm?
  5. I'm a 10 in a shoe, and a 9D skate, which is what I have and is what was suggested by the foot scanner. Left foot is 3/4's of a size different than right, but doesn't present a problem with sizing in my skate. But I have very flat feet so it's tough getting a comfortable fit. The 1x's are generally pretty good, I don't have major complaints but I'm always looking for a more comfortable fit, especially since skating and mobility has literally become the most important aspect of goaltending. Interesting re: 581 stiffness...mine managed to break in really well, but you're right in general it is definitely a stiffer design compared to the 580 and always will be no matter how well it breaks in.
  6. I've had tf9's on my radar for a while now - currently have a pair of Vapor 1x's. Are the tf9's just not the right fit for your foot shape? Re: the 581, I wish I had more ice times that I could dedicate to getting used to it because I think it has a lot of potential. Was it just the pop-outs for you, or was it that wrist pad that you didn't like? I find when I catch it clean it's extremely satisfying but just doesn't funnel as nice as a traditional glove.
  7. How long did you stick with the 581 before going back to your True?
  8. Haha, yes I completely agree! I wonder if that could actually be swapped, that would be amazing. The internal strapping in the 581 feels so good - when you have it dialed in the glove is an extension of your hand compared to the 580 which always feels like it's kind of sloshing around and loose. But that thing really does swallow up pucks. I've had one practice and a game with it, and for me at least, the 580 hype is real. When's yours arriving?
  9. Based on this IG story just posted by CCM I'm guessing Demko is sticking around... https://instagram.com/stories/ccmgoalie/3188926648594843228?igshid=MTc4MmM1YmI2Ng==
  10. Ahhh....yup sorry my friend, didn't realize you were down south!
  11. I think shipping took two or three days for me...you could probably have it by Thursday
  12. I'd say go for it. Full right options/in stock are pretty rare as you know so if you're already leaning towards the 580 it's hard to resist. Pretty happy with mine so far - the one thing I wish they had done was brought over the crossform strapping that my 581 has. But mines got a good closure and adjusting from a 590 has been pretty effortless.
  13. Pro palm, but game ready feel as they say on their site, which when I talked to them meant they've baked it once and wrapped it prior to delivery like you can see in my first pic. It was decent out of the box but I had it baked one more time and did the usual break in stuff. But yeah I'd say it was pretty decent when it arrived considering it's a pro palm.
  14. I've always thought the fact he's so brazen about it should make it pretty obvious, and he doesn't hide the fact that CCM sends him all the new products to test. He's usually pretty tongue in cheek in his comments too...seems like everyone's aware of where he stands?
  15. Yes, and makes you wonder if either Demko or Markstrom are considering the same thing or sticking with Eflex. On the other hand, maybe it's not so spurprising since Axis and Eflex have been moving closer together and the differentiation between the two is becoming less and less, especially with some of the custom options available for Eflex. Although I say this not knowing how extensive the changes are to the xf pro Axis, which I suppose could be significant.
  16. Yup that's what I though too. I like the simplicity, nice and clean.
  17. Here's a link to more extensive, close up footage.
  18. Based on the location of the CCM logo and apparent lack of knee rolls (hard to see), are we looking at Skinner in the new Axis pads?
  19. For Sale: CCM Eflex 6 pads - stock. Purchased at the end of July from Pro Hockey Life, used only 3 times. Like new condition. Unfortunately they're not quite the right size so I'm hoping to sell these quickly to help fund a different pair. Asking $1500 Canadian, retail is $2,199. Can provide more pics if there's something specific you'd like to see, and happy to answer any questions. If you're interested send me a message and let's see if we can work something out. Thanks.
  20. I have a Vaughn V9 xp which is basically a 590 clone in terms of break, and I would say the 581 sits in between the Vaughn and the ccm 580. In terms of looks, closer to the 590, but in terms of how the break feels while you're wearing it, closer to the 580. The 581 is definitely unique. When you're wearing it, it's striking how different it is from the 580 and even the V9 in terms of the materials, strapping system, finger loops (or lack thereof), etc. I'm a fan, and still undecided which of the two I prefer - probably because the 581 feels more familiar to me relative to the Vaughn V9, but my guess is long time 580 users may feel differently.
  21. I hope I'm not hijacking this thread, but I didn't think it warranted starting a completely new one. My ef6 580 arrived today so I thought I'd post some side by side shots with the 581. Initial thoughts are that I actually prefer the fit and feel of the 581 on the hand compared to the 580. I'm probably in the minority but I really like just the index and pinky finger loops and the flexibility that provides in terms of hand placement. Also, those cross fit system is awesome. As @Madmedic6 said, the "range of motion in the new hand lock is very nice." Also, as @ArdeFIN mentioned above, the real major difference between these two, having them right next to each other seems to be the real estate between the thumb and the pocket which I tried to highlight in on of the pics. Meaning, there's virtually none on the 581 and it just transitions immediately to "pocket", whereas the 580 has more catching area between the thumb and the pocket. For people experiencing pop-outs when the glove is presented perfectly to the shooter (myself included), this is likely why. On a side note, Professional Skate Service in Calgary was nice enough to give it a bake and wrap it up before shipping which I thought was a nice touch. My 581 is very nicely worked in by now, but I can tell the 580 is going to take much less work to get it nice and buttery smooth. Anyway, I really like the 581 but perhaps I'll like the 580 more! We shall see on Monday. And then what do I do?? Probably best to keep both, right?
  22. I've got the 581 as well, and just ordered a 580 from Proskate in Calgary (skate lace, single T, pro palm) - should have it in a few days and I'm super curious to see how the two compare. The 581 was my first experience with any sort of 580 inspired break and I liked it quite a bit. First two skates were a big adjustment but by the third I was feeling quite comfortable. I didn't have the negative reaction to the wrist pad like you did, but I agree it's kind of prominent. The closure for me is getting flatter over time as I work it in more, but I hear what you're saying re: the hot dog bun, haha. Maybe not a whole bun, but possibly just the dog? (Nope, not gonna say wiener ) Anyway, hoping the 580 ships shortly. I believe you said you were thinking about ordering a 580 too...did you ever pull the trigger? #fullrightrules
