  1. My JRZ bkades arrived from Tydan on Friday, and I quickly brought them in to get profiled and sharpened in time for my game last night. Felt great, very similar and on par with the step black steel I was using with my Bauers
  2. If anyone's interested in a CCM warranty claim update, on the one hand it was impressive how quickly they responded and approved the claim. On the other hand, less impressive that they shipped me a brand new 581 instead of a 580 I've responded and let them know they sent the wrong glove, and am hoping it's just an honest mistake as opposed to them not having any full right 580's on hand and hoping they can pawn the 581 off on me instead.
  3. I noticed that too, but not until like the 3rd or 4th watch, because it's so fast. Imagine all the processing that's going through his brain as well during that whole sequence. Very impressive.
  4. I guess I just don't see why they'd go to all that effort to put a 581 back on a 580, but keep the same strapping. I've got both of those gloves and there's nothing special or beneficial about the 581 backing. Odd. Re the lettering, it looks more like something obscured to me than yellow lettering but hard to tell with the low resolution pic.
  5. Wait, so you think Markstrom or the flames created a franken-glove themselves? Don't we think he would be working closely enough with CCM that they would put something together for him? Also, curious as to why the wording on the backhand has been covered....
  6. This is exactly what I wondered too, which as we know is our dream!! Please sell this to us, CCM. Or provide a conversion service for a very reasonable fee.
  7. Anyone know what this glove is that Markstrom is wearing? At first I thought it was maybe a Bauer with the branding covered up but then I saw the cuff that says CCM. Unreleased model?
  8. I just ordered a set of JRZ Pro Black DLC Steel for my Tf9's from Tydan. I previously had Step Steel Black for my Vapor 1x's and could immediately notice a difference between them and the stock Shift steel that came with my Trues, which I thought I'd try before ordering an after market set. It's hard to describe, but the edges just felt less solid and less consistent across the length of the blade. And gliding wasn't as smooth either. I considered upgrading to the True DLC steel, but chatted with Ty (from Tydan) and he confirmed that the JRZ steel was much higher quality, which I had heard elsewhere. So yeah, I would echo anyone else who says good quality steel makes a tangible difference. It's huge for me. Anyway, I also now have two size 9 sets of step steel for the vertex holder, if anyone is interested in buying. One black, and one regular.
  9. Did you notice the cardboard card locker in the top left, and the Gretzky cover of the sticker album next to it? Did you guys have those as well? I actually have a few unopened packs with gum in them. Last year I cracked one open and could not resist trying the gum. Needless to say that was a major mistake and it had not aged well
  10. Found these in a pack of hockey cards. Anyone seen these new Koho pads yet? Pretty sweet
  11. New True Tf9 skates used for the first time tonight, coming from Bauer Vapor 1X. Slightly more forward pitch than the Bauer's but nothing crazy. Baked once in store and then twice at home, and these are easily the most comfortable and well fitting skates I've ever worn. I now believe the hype.
  12. Thanks for the reply. Yeah, I phoned Pro Skate this morning and they suggested I submit my claim directly, but if I have an problems getting a response to reach out to them and they'll see what they can do. I'm in Winnipeg, so they'd have to ship something out to me. Plus, they don't have any stock right now anyway. I've got a 581 that I can use while it gets fixed, which I'm actually kind of excited about! I put it on last night and I forgot how light it is and how great the strapping system is
  13. Well this seems less than ideal. I've had this glove on the ice 4 times, and then just the normal sitting at home throwing a puck into it during the break in process and already the cord around the exterior of the pocket has already frayed and snapped. It's well within the warranty period so I will be utilizing it but that's pretty brutal. Best to go through Pro Skate in Calgary where I purchased it or directly through CCM? Any advice/warranty stories anyone might have appreciated.
  14. Markstrom apparently in his "I just can't quit you" phase with CCM, or possibly in a polyamorous relationship with Bauer. Those crazy Swedes anything's possible.
  15. Apparently CCM asked him to take it down
  16. Definitely wasn't weave, so I just assumed it was speedskin but I wasn't looking closely. Wonder what it is...
  17. Not sure why, but looks like the video has been taken down. Weird YouTube copyright take down perhaps?
  18. Pretty decent overview/review from Kasimir is now up
  19. Comrie has always reminded me of a little kid dressing up in his dad's oversized 90's era suit.
  20. Plus if you look closely, I think the CCM logo is actually blue Canuck colours, and the efex 6 logo on the boot is green Canuck colours, so this has been intentionally done and I guess is his setup for the year? I suppose we'll find out but it seems like this isn't just a generic white set he picked up to fit with his next team...
  21. If you haven't seen it, ingoal has a great extended interview with him from Tendyfest this past summer.
  22. I really like Ian Clarke, that dude is intense. And apparently as you say yes intense about what he thinks works! But yeah he's a little strict. I mean I'm an admitted white fan but even just a bit of colour would be nice! The Canuck retros when Demko had the McLean tribute pads must have driven him CRAZY
  23. Demko in all white Eflex 6, no outer break? 580 glove.
  24. Do it!! Seals very well, munches pucks, etc etc etc. Very satisfying.
