  1. What happens in the room stays in the room.
  2. I was just waiting for this kind of response. I teed that one up nicely
  3. This is exactly correct. And I think forwards know that now and purposely aren't giving goalies the luxury of settling into a game and making easy saves. It also makes the games a little less fun... obviously I'm there for the beer afterwards but I'd also like to see some rubber.
  4. Nope, just a regular white training puck so I didn't get a tonne of scuff marks all over it outside of normal use. I've done the same thing with other gloves and never had this issue so it was pretty surprising. And yes, they really were shockingly helpful and great to work with. No complaints other than just the inconvenience of the whole thing.
  5. That is a good looking lineup! Yup I'm looking forward to some sort of review as well. Your out of the box closure looks similar to what mine was as well. Mine was pro palm too, but not total custom, and by now it is very buttery and worked in. I actually wish I had more non-game ice times where I could use the 581 and really give it a proper number of reps to see if I could get used to it but I don't really have that luxury.
  6. Update: Called CCM and they confirmed they sent the 581 because that was all they had in stock. When I mentioned I already had a 581 and would prefer a different solution, they agreed to send me the new Axis XF Pro when it's released in February. I shipped the 581 back, and talked to them again today to confirm they received it and that they had all they needed from me in terms of confirming the XF Pro replacement. On the whole I have to say the whole experience dealing with them has been way better than I expected. Super responsive, helpful, and friendly. Now I just have to wait 3.5 months to try out try out the new Axis
  7. This guy has some weird gear idiosyncrasies...I was watching that game last night and his toe ties are so long I initially wasn't even sure if he had any. I freeze framed some pretty incredible shots of his pad separated from his skate/leg. Played really well last night though, haven to give him that.
  8. Lol is this for real? That's so loud and creaky I don't think any of the internals would be broken though. They're just very, very creaky. Can't say I've ever seen that before. I briefly had a 9x3 set before returning them, but I don't recall them having that issue...maybe some other True owners can chime in.
  9. Ahh yes, the glory years of late teens early 20's when equipment didn't matter. I have a feint memory of that, when mismatched gear was acceptable, a 10 pound Cooper glove snagged pucks, and Ed Belfour's old DR pads from his days at UND were cool even though they were held together with tape. But yeah, now I'm in my mid-late 40's and I'll take every fucking advantage I can that brand new gear will afford me
  10. After deciding my 34+2 Eflex 6 set was just a bit too big, I sold them and replaced them with this 33+1.5 custom set from The Padded Room Source For Sports in London. Weave sliding surface, max rebound, no boot strap. The fit is way better and feel nice and dialed in. I've had around 10 skates in them now and loving them.
  11. Interesting, that's the opposite of my experience which was I went down a half size from my Vapors! Both regular width. I've found that the toe box has "loosened up" somewhat after a few skates and a few bakes. Sorry it didn't work for your feet - it sounds like it's a bit hit and miss due to how unique people's foot shape is.
  12. I'm obviously biased but these look pretty sweet. Watched a full game in preseason when he was wearing them. Our new 7 year extended former Vezina winner still rocking his incredibly basic set
  13. Interesting! I guess that's the great thing about sports, everyone can appreciate and enjoy them in their own way
  14. A fair question! I'm from Winnipeg, which I'm guessing is enough said? If not I can elaborate, haha. Huge Jerome Iginla fan, though. Broke onto the scene and was pivotal in our Salt Lake City gold medal, and obviously played a critical role in the Golden Goal in Vancouver. You wouldn't happen to be American, now would you? Sorry, that probably still hurts a little
  15. It might! Sorry my friend, I just can't get on board with the yellow and red. Red with blue and/or white or on its own looks good but the yellow just doesn't do it for me
  16. Haha, I suppose we will have to agree to disagree on this one. My animosity for the Flames runs deep
  17. We'll have to see if they look good enough to counteract their horrible jerseys. They should adopt these practice jerseys as their regular home, would be a major improvement.
  18. Seriously, what is this glove? 581 back, different logo layout/placement, and completely different stitching in the palm compared to the current ef6 custom 580 break. Also, this all red looks awesome but I hate the Flames so I feel very uncomfortable right now.
  19. My JRZ bkades arrived from Tydan on Friday, and I quickly brought them in to get profiled and sharpened in time for my game last night. Felt great, very similar and on par with the step black steel I was using with my Bauers
  20. If anyone's interested in a CCM warranty claim update, on the one hand it was impressive how quickly they responded and approved the claim. On the other hand, less impressive that they shipped me a brand new 581 instead of a 580 I've responded and let them know they sent the wrong glove, and am hoping it's just an honest mistake as opposed to them not having any full right 580's on hand and hoping they can pawn the 581 off on me instead.
  21. I noticed that too, but not until like the 3rd or 4th watch, because it's so fast. Imagine all the processing that's going through his brain as well during that whole sequence. Very impressive.
  22. I guess I just don't see why they'd go to all that effort to put a 581 back on a 580, but keep the same strapping. I've got both of those gloves and there's nothing special or beneficial about the 581 backing. Odd. Re the lettering, it looks more like something obscured to me than yellow lettering but hard to tell with the low resolution pic.
  23. Wait, so you think Markstrom or the flames created a franken-glove themselves? Don't we think he would be working closely enough with CCM that they would put something together for him? Also, curious as to why the wording on the backhand has been covered....
