The slack or over rotation seems more at the knee as it looks like the toe tie is preventing the rest to follow. How loose is the knee cradle? What model knee pads do you use? Skinny legs or athletic? All can be contributing factors to the issue.

My Warriors have a bit of inner rotation in my stance but nothing crazy.

A couple weeks ago I got in touch with Bonesy (the Nashville EBUG YouTuber) and asked him how he manages to have so much slack on his toe ties and not wear his pads tight yet still can keep his pads relatively square in his stance and when skating. He said he never noticed and he said that for mine, it could just be a question of how I strap them. Then again, the strapping set-up/system is quite different between his Trues and my GT2s.

I’m using brians basic knee pad (pros I think??) in junior size so it’s a super skinny knee pad, I’ve had them since I started playing and I’m planning on switching to Ccm kp pros once my playoffs have a break in schedule.

Had a similar issue when I was using centered skate lace toe ties. I had to use so much slack to stop my ankles from hurting that the pad would over rotate in my stance just like yours.

I offset my lace toe ties 2 holes towards the inside edge, shortened the slack, and haven't had issues with over rotation since.

I’ve been thinking about that for a bit I’ll try it soon and see if it helps

    Add a boot strap. ;)

If I get the chance I will, I was at Simmons shop while at a tournament in Buffalo and he said he couldn’t add one because of the l12.2s not having an outer binding. Maybe I’ll hit up someone else on my set next year about it if I don’t go custom

I felt my pad slip like this a lot doing t pushes and any suggestions on how to stop this is appreciated. My current setup is about 3-4 inches of slack on skate lace, tight top frs loose bottom, knee elastic down to the calf.

You could still get the Pro Series body with Mach arms in that case. I believe that is how James Reimer has his chest protector set up now.

That’s my current set up and I love it. After a few adjustments to the bulk it’s great.

I heard in the InGoal Mag youtube video that the Bauer Pro Series isn't current NHL regulation, it's the arms I think. Not that it matters to most of you but if you like streamlined or play Junior/College, it might be a deal breaker.

It’s also floaters, they’re so wide compared to any other chesty I’ve seen, things have to be like 10 inches wideD6662954-CC8A-4887-8E62-C88287731402.thumb.jpeg.cd2ed8b0a3b1a0bd7157fe5a80043bda.jpeg

  4. My wedgewood 12.2 returns came with the smaller strap on the bottom and longer on top. I switched those around and tightened them all the way down. I felt I needed a bit more tightening up top so I cut down about half an inch of the adjustment side and resewed and they sit how I like them toF0A5E91A-FACF-4E2F-BA4D-693282FA208C.thumb.jpeg.6368ad89992609f9d72412b7a1e7abfe.jpeg .5ECF2797-E979-4CDF-8652-02CFAB2330DC.thumb.jpeg.a1b3a67482883314ce1122f88242b658.jpeg

Betting it means they raised the heel so it doesn't feel as flat out of the box

Shadow chest also looked near identical to Mach imo @pfeiffjay54

I probably need to look again then, I remember thinking the floater looked weird. I was rushing through looking because school wifi kept freezing up lol

@RichMan Glad you brought this up. I had been thinking about this lately. While I probably won't be old enough to worry about it for some time, I had been wondering: how long can I keep up my current style of play before I start breaking things? So far I've been able to get by with proper preparation (stretching, general training etc.), but it will be interesting to see exactly what changes will need to be made for me to continue playing for as long as the more "senior" members on the forum given that I grew up playing "the modern game" whereas many here had a different basis to start with.

I hope my hips can take another 40 years of this, though I likely won't be able to throw myself around as I have been able to. Perhaps I'll find a way to work smarter and not harder.

I’ve been thinking about this a ton too. I’ve lost so much hip mobility over the past few years at 14. Stretching before every skate and at home has helped me feel better lately.

  8. Definitely not as interesting stories as you guys but I have changed my gave a ton the last year. I’m turning 15 in January and my whole time playing goalie I hated big blocky goalies and loved guys like quick. I played house and low level travel up until my peewee major year when I went to a mid tier Michigan aaa team. I could always make the cool athletic split saves, but simple shots always went in. I got a lot better until I got cut from that team two seasons later. That was a huge wake up call for me and after a few weeks off in the summer to focus on lacrosse, when I got on the ice I decided I needed to change the way I play. I lost most of my hip mobility and couldn’t really move the ways I could a few years back. I hit all the skates and camps I could and developed a ton. I’m still a more athletic-style than most, but I play a lot more controlled and simple game now. Watching old clips I have no idea how I was on the team I was haha. Right now I’m on a top aa team in Michigan and I’m playing better than I ever have. Just felt like sharing what made me change my game thanks for reading lol

  9. Hey guys, I’m 5’10 155 and I just got a senior small Bauer Pro chest. I’m loving everything about it except the bulkiness. I’m coming out of an intermediate ve8 that was tiny on me so I expected to feel  bulky, but I’m maybe 3-4 skates in and this just feels so awkward on me. Is this something I’ll get used to? I haven’t had a new chest since I got my ve8 in maybe 2020 so I don’t really know what the adjustment period is. Thanks.

  10. Hey guys, I’m in the middle of a tournament right now probably gonna play 2 more games before I drive home. I broke my skate eyelet out about 2 hours ago before my last game. Is this some this I have to get fixed immediately or can I stick it out until I’m home. I’m chicago right now if there’s any spots you guys know that can fix it. Thanks.

  11. Anyone have pictures of a Bauer pad without the graphics? I’ve seen people take a heat gun to the spears on hyperlite for example and take them off. Just want pics for a set I’m getting
