  1. I was bored this morning, scrolling some kind of social media, and came across an ad for Halo Hockey Laces 2.0. Being a lazy sonofabitch, I decided that velcro straps instead of skate laces was a good idea and therefore made the impulse purchase of a set for my skates. Once I receive them, I'll edit this post with my review of the product. For those of you who don't know what I'm talking about, this is it:

I think goalie gear is the same as used cars where they lose 25% just driving off the lot.

This is why I almost exclusively buy lightly used gear, use it for maybe a year and resell it. It hardly costs me anything to try out new stuff and I've drastically narrowed down my searches by eliminating the option of buying stuff I know I won't like.

I'm 68 years old now and had both hips replaced about 15 years ago (more from 50 years of hardcourt tennis than hockey)😄. Took me about 6 months to get back on the tennis court, then decided I wanted to resume my goalie career as well.

Now playing 3 times a week with all levels of players at pickup and having no pain or issues at all. If you are having pain I highly recommend getting it done, and actually the younger the better, as healing and rehab is much faster than if you wait.

I also chose the ceramic ball and ceramic cup which never wears out, and unlike the metal on metal does not release harmful elements into your bloodstream.

One other suggestion.  Find a surgeon who uses the anterior approach to do the replacement.  About half the rehab time because if they go in the front they only have to push the muscles apart to insert the hardware.  If you go the posterior route, they have to cut the muscles and stitch them back together.

Good luck and I hope this doesn't reach you too late. Sorry, just saw this post.

Are you 68 in that picture? If so, I'd have guessed 20 years younger!

Where did you see the grafs for $600 cdn? I’ve only seen them for $800+

    Thanks

Caley's Crease. It was the last pair that they had in stock, so they gave me a smokin' good deal, and they just happened to be my size. I was actually shopping for the non-pro model, which still would have been $500, so I figured for an extra $100 I'd be stupid not to get the higher end ones.

I think Hockey Manitoba is re-evaluating after Nov.15th as long as we out of code red.

Took about 10 shots with your Passau.  Recall pucks hitting the pocket on every shot.  Worth trying again I think.

    Still in Warrior?

I think the only thing I don't have that Warrior makes now would be their new mask.

Always wanted to try a pair of Passau pads.  Just picked these up.  Interested in trying a Passau catcher 60 degree break with intermediate internals if anyone has one they would let go.

How long until you'll get a chance in Winnipeg to skate again?

Did you ever try my Passau catcher on the ice or just throw it on to feel it a bit?

Cool! Let us know how it goes!

It went great! Couple of stinkers from a few months of rust, but that'll happen. I think the rules where I'm playing allow for 25 skaters or something. Dressing rooms have every other stall blocked off, so I've got enough room for once. Physically it's the best I've felt on the ice in a year after tearing an adductor off the bone a year back and then getting reinjured in January. Looking forward to playing again tomorrow!

Don't forget pro+!  Four confusing options to choose from! Just kidding, but here's a screenshot of the rundown on each from the brochure that is available on this website.  Ues the foams will be the biggest diffencr between the lines, but the Senior to Pro+ differences will be a huge jump in tech and quality (I assume).

    Thanks, much appreciated.

its foam like every other years.

I get that that's going to be the difference between the Senior and the Pro, but I've never noticed 2 different senior models, always just a Senior and a Pro. This time there's a Senior, Senior+, and then the Pro.

Goalie Monkey, Hockey Giant, they tend to be the only "special edition" stores. I wish Pro Hockey Life would jump on the wagon for us Canucks.

I thought I'd seen some custom G4/GT2 senior setups from The Hockey Shop, which is Canadian. Possibly The Goalie Crease too.

Oof. I was stretching during warm-up last week and heard a *pop* from my right-side gracilis. Played a few games since and it feels better every day, but groin injuries are nerve wracking. Never quite sure how long it's going to take to heal, what movements might aggravate it. Not fun.

Not fun indeed. I decided to shut it down for the season and take the summer off of hockey this year too most likely. That gives me a solid 8 months to rehab it.
