  1. Didn't have the greatest experience with him, seems like just a guy that prints and smacks it on your mask without much knowledge when it comes to art, or input. I had to go back and forth too long.

Because mine was more complex, he did all the easy masks first...I had to wait, and way too long.

The price was good, the work, and the print layed on my mask, was alright.

Any wear spots ever show up on your ss Axis 2s? I don't remember it being an issue on my EF5s but worth asking.

For myself I went jenpro all around and SS on the sliding surface. No issues, just wear on the thigh rise.

  3. My advice might be a little different than the others.

I never grew up skating as I'm originally from Israel. I did when I was 13-15 for fun and wasn't good, always wanted to be in net as soon as I laid my eyes on hockey.  Played lots on the street, gym, in net too. I had a good understanding of the sport.

When I was maybe 25-26 I skated again, took it up and got the crazy idea to start play hockey, mind you, I always wanted to play in net as I said. I would be a good player IF I knew how to skate well.  I took up 10 power skating lessons and from there played as a player for a D division for a year, mind you again...an average or below average skater. I wasn't having much fun.

One day I said screw it and got goalie equipment, I didn't care. I played shinny for probably 2 years, all year...it was a struggle but I got down the basic movements, while again, being an average skater.

I'm 41 now, in great shape, and a pretty good goalie. Better than your average beer league goalie, I'm athletic as well and played many other organized sports which helped me. See the thing is, it's the process, and you sticking to it, improving, watching videos. I was never coached but I got by.  You don't have to be the best skater if you got the movements, shuffles, cutting angles, reading the play, t-pusges etc.  You can do it, but your heart needs to be in it.  I stuck to it, and after 11 years in net I'm pretty good, and I don't even play in those lower level leagues.

My fondest memory was playing vs Cammalleri 4 years ago.

One point of advice that will help you, is going on 4mm blades and not 3mm...I think it will help you.

That they are. And both are better goaltenders than Trav is. Ridgen's real talent is making videos, not stopping pucks, which for the record is TOTALLY fine.

You're right, that's what he does best and ppl get intrigued by it, love it or hate it ppl comment lol. He does it for the money, it's like his story or some bs I wonder why some even follow his none sense.

I don't work with True corporate like I do Bauer or CCM. I have a friend in the Montreal factory for my True connection and that's how I got my demo set.

So maybe he is working with them? But from what I know, he is NOT getting free stuff from Bauer or CCM. Last I knew, he worked at a shop for the employee discount and leveraged that to acquire gear.

He keeps on saying, I borrow my firends gear (using his Axis set for like a month), sure you do buddy.  I think he gets the Demo sets from Source for Sports on Don Mills where I go, and have Demoed a set before, perhaps another Source for Sports in another area too.  He probably calls every second of every hour to get his hands on it, that's what he does.  He gets nothing for free, no connections to any hockey company out there.

Heck, the guy I know from PIAS gets me better deals lol

I get he's a mess league guy trying his best but he is... not very good. And the stiffest possible pads are really better off with a more flexible user. Not that other people can't use them but its definitely easier the more flexibility you have. The guy just has too many excuses. At the end of the day if a piece of gear doesn't work for you just say it isn't for you.

Just frustrates me that a guy like this thinks he knows all. As someone who has grown up in the heavily goalie coached era, everything is about technique now. Why should someone like myself or any other younger goalies take gear advice from a guy who plays old school, doing just about everything "wrong"? Again I get that everyone plays there own way and stuff, which I respect, its part of why I value input from everyone on here so much, but this guy is making one leg up pad saves and then explaining pad seal 2 minutes later. I want gear advice from someone who at least understands the purpose ofall the tech in the gear, even if they don't use it exactly the way its intended.

Sorry but if you can't tell I'm not a fan and have had this waiting inside me for some time now lol

Both of us my guy, can't stand him. Had enough run ins with him.

I take all reviews with a grain of salt, but lately I find myself putting less stock into what Hockeyreviews says because of how subjective and hyperbolic against whatever doesn't work for him and his game. Even on his CCM 581 Reddit post, when people give opposing opinions, he seems to get pretty defensive and talk about his sources which I mean could be anything.

You're 100 percent on that, he can't take criticism, opinions, it boils him up inside and he gets SO defensive.  It's like dude, WHY are you even doing reviews? Stick to your day job because it's not on the ice, clearly by his videos.  I guess this is why he left this forum, with his crybaby post.....just can't take others opinions, or heat for that matter.  I wonder if he's actually lurking this place haha.

I have about 3 weeks at 2-4 times a week in it. I will say. My pro palm has been well padded, compared to what hockeyreviews posted. I purposely took palm shots in warmups the other day to test the protection.

Hockeyreviews is a joke, he was crying here when he left as if anyone gave 2 shits.... when this is a community of one another helping each other, it was about himself. He's bias, and that palm test was a complete joke.  Any puck that hits the sweet spot will hurt 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️ that's why we have pockets. Move on from him.

    Hey everyone,

I'm a junior goalie from Canada and was recently told our league will allow us to wear uncertified cat-eyes for the first time this season,

I recently bought one online from Pure Hockey, it was a white cat eye made by OTNY for Bauer Profile Masks, looks incredible and vision is great but unfortunately it dented pretty good on the second skate I used it. I'm looking for a replacement and am trying to find one made by Bauer but unfortunately I cannot find white anywhere.

Does anyone have any recommendations on where I can find a senior Bauer Profile cat-eye in White?

    Thanks!

Are you in Toronto? Goalie crease got some it looks.

  10. The question is, is it a personal life type of situation? Or really just hockey?

Take care of yourself first, and the drive will come back. If it's strictly hockey frustration, remember why you started in the first place.  Or, find out why you feel, the way you feel and fix it.

I started hockey on ice in my late 20s as a goalie, no ice experience prior. It was painful, but after 12 years I'm a pretty solid goalie and love it. I play all year long because I'm scared that one day I won't be able to play again. I'm 41 and in great shape, so I got that. But one day, it will end.

    Fix yourself first, good luck!

I have no used these skates 6 times and I have adjusted to the boot in terms of comfort but I just can't not adjust to the blades, I know these are a 3mm and my old skates were a 4mm. DonI have an option to switch back to a 4mm with these holders? Also I do not know much about profiling but the main issue that I am having is I feel that the toe of the blade is massive and it is hindering my skating, how I get up and my movement in the crease. What profile would help me most?

Once you get the 4mm blade you'd love them. I can't adjust to the 3mm blade either.

I got these a few weeks back and has my first skate in them tonight. Coming from 4mm steel to the 3mm was interesting for the first few minutes and I also felt the toe pick issue when in the butterfly but it also did not last. One thing I noticed was that the top of the skate at the final lace hole was digging into my ankle bone as the skate went on, does this area break in over time?

Also I was using 1/2 hollow but they recommended I go with 5/8 but I found I did not get as much bite on my butterfly pushes as I had before.

Got these custom and I love them. Also went with 4mm black steel steep. Can't do the 3mm.

  13. Pass on Barrasso, came from a stacked team.  Just like Mogilny should have been in by now vs this year's inductees. Guy scored 76 in 77, and a cup winner. Had a great career.

How’s the breathability on the HL1 and HL2 chests.  I’m currently in a ccm AB18 and like the mobility but I’m getting over how hot the thing runs. Even on easy games it’s soaked in sweat.

I don't even pay attention to that lol, I wore a Bauer NXG, the Pro and a CCM Premier...I now have the beefed up version and I can't let it go lol
