Can anyone speak to how the skate fit changes before and after heat moulding.  I was in Graf DM 1050 size 9.5,,, two eyelets have ripped and at this stage rather than replace I'm looking for new skates.  I heard that these ran smaller so ordered size 10 US and just tried them on - my toes are touching the end.  I've never been a fan of that feeling/fit so thinking about going up to size 10.5 but wondering if things might change if/when I were to heat mold them.  I don't want to do it, find out they still won't fit becuase then I can't return them.  Conversely I don't want to move up 1/2 size - heat mold those and then have them feel too big (though I don't think that's as much a concern)   In the heel there is very pronounced padding on either side and a narrow heal channel right now, but wondering if my foot might reshape that and open up even 1/4 inch of space in heel and thus remove toes from cap at end.     Thanks for any insights

Heat molding won't change the length of the skate just the fit. The toe won't start shrinking in lol so if you're touching, get a half size bigger and go into a store if you can to try.

The problem isn’t getting the pads it’s more being able to try on pads and getting the right fit before I buy.

Ya 💯 I get it. You definitely want to get it right.

  3. I missed this thread, so hello.... my heart goes out to everyone. So sad, the beautiful cats, and dogs, bunnies.

I been around cats most of my life, from growing up in Israel they just run around and become your pet.  Every time I visit I bring food.  I have already lost 4, and it's so tough.

When I moved to Toronto back in 94-95 our neighbor handed us a cat which we loved, years passed and he got weaker, were able to save him for but 5-6 months but he he lost his bone mass, got weaker and couldn't walk so we had to put him down.

Lster on my sister got a Persian cat and she had kittiens, we kept two.  One swallowed a needle by mistake (Milka) which we had to operate on, knock on wood was all but success. Her brother (Simon) the only pure grey one that cane out and with the best personality had leukemia, passed in my arms when he was 8, I came back from co-op and he decided to wait. Mom made is to 20 and she passed 2 years ago, got old and weak. Milka (needle eater) passed last year and made it to 20 as well.  Really disturbing though, she also got weak but I noticed a bump near her bum area. A few days later it opened and it was filled with warms and maggots, her body couldn't fight it out I guess... and I had to put her down.

From 3 cats I was now down to 1, Jessie, he's 12 and been through a lot. Developed high sugar, which developed to Neuropathy and him not being able to walk properly or jump. He ate a lot, but is just a big structured cat and was around 25 pounds.  A miracle drug I found saved him, he does get insulin and on a good diet. Recently though a big cyst opened up under his chin, a size of a toonie so I'm dealing with that.  Scary. He's a hunter for sure, roams the yard, and already brought 5 mice to date, and baby birds.

I'm totally an animal lover, and they deserve so much more ❤️

    JESSIE below.

For the updated QMSS, I found the pad is sitting higher off my skate. It's not a bad thing, like the strapping, but frustrating that my pads play too large now. If I had to do a re-order, I would order a smaller size.

You're right they do sit taller, but when I drop I have no issues, I kinda like this. I ordered the same size as the Axis1.

@ZeroGravitas I would like a longer strap and maybe more velcro. I was able to stretch out the strap though and my 3rd game was better.

Bought another clavicle protector. A CCM TC-500 to replace the Bauer Reactor one.  The Bauer was okay but never seemed that protective but, having them side by side the clavicle padding in the Bauer one is much thicker that the clavicle padding of the CCM. But the throat padding of the CCM is better than the throat padding of the Bauer. So now what?

I'm going to try the CCM tomorrow night. My concern now is the thin padding. I wanted it for the throat protection and the wrap around neck piece is nice, could be a little hotter but will find out tomorrow. Just wish the clavicle padding was thicker. It was $24 shipped so it's not that big of a deal if it doesn't work out.

I used to use those and they were okay. Had the ccm for years, also the Vapors.  Not sure if something happened to me, I can't recall.. .but I ended up going with Kova a few years back.

start around 5:20 in for the goal in question.

I don't like the NHL allowing this goal, but I need to ask for some other opinions.  To me, it looks clear as day that the skater moves the goalie with his stick, then scores.  Now Binnington doesn't protest, the announcers didn't say anything, and everybody went about their day as if it was no problem.  Are you allowed to move the goalie out of the way like that?

My concern with allowing this kind of goal will encourage players to poke and hack trying to push goalies out of the way.

    Thoughts?

    Goal,

If Binny's pads were form, planted against the post it wouldn't go in. His stick didn't move his pads....gravity did.

Well here is the new start for 2022-2023 and we're off to a good start by beating Toronto in OT, Caulfield producing as we expect, Anderson finishing big for us. And yes, we might of lost to Detroit yesterday but Allen had a stellar performance and the boys had ample opportunities but Husso played well and Detroit's big bodies took care of the extra space around the crease.

How many games will Allen play before he gets a breather and Montembeault jumps in? What kind of rotation will they have?

    Game never went to OT.

Which QMSS strap do you mean?

My (minor) issues are that the knee strap coming out of the knee block seems/feels a little short when strapping below the knee.

My boot strap has deteriorated quite a bit. It looks like CCM uses some kind of colored sticker applied to the leather boot strap, but the sticker quickly lost adhesiveness and has come off, leaving parts of the boot strap naked.

I haven't touched my Machs since I got these.... despite Mach giving better rebounds (and slide, but I modified them with vinyl so that's not quite an apples-to-apples comparison). I do feel like shots off the pads and blocker kind of "flutter" or wobble away at noticeably reduced velocity. With Bauer, pucks seem to rocket off and maintain the velocity they had coming in, and the trajectory is much more consistent and seldom flutter-y. The 580 catcher has been awesome for me. If Bauer ever offered a 580 at retail/retail custom...

The new QMSS2, like you have and me. Below the knee, it's too damn short.... I'm trying to stretch it out when it's sitting at home by strapping them on larger objects.

I feel a bit of that wobble if it hits sqare on my butterfly but they are stiffer throughout vs the Axis 1. I do feel shoots a little weider too vs the Axis1.

I ended up without the boot strap.

I'm looking for a Bauer VTX and/or 960XPM, medium size, not white. Pretty specific I know, just thought I'd put the feelers out.

Personally I'd go for 960 the newer model but they only come in white, you could do a wrap. The xpm came out like 6 years ago, you can check sidelineswap or Facebook groups for some in good condition but it's rare.

The VTX comes in white too.

  10. So, I had a feeling that the new QMMS system would be an issue because of how tight the velcro strap is, without the extra give which restricted the crap out of me after my first use.  I was tired AF after 30 minutes and getting exhausted due to the restriction. Not to mention that my upper calf area isn't that big.

I started taking big pillows and wrapping them around my pads hoping it will get looser.

    How did you find it?

Overall the pads are great, harder rebounds vs the Axis 1, better seal on the butterfly. My game ready glove though feels like a Pro and a little stiffer.

Asking this gently and sincerely because I dont want to get into the middle of the Leafs v. Habs deal (I've always like both team): what is the deal w Price? Is is the knee or a substance issue or both? Game is worse off without him so whatever is his problem(s), here's hoping he gets back.

Allen can play. He's not likely to be in HofF but with some help, he can do well. Saw alot of him when he was w the Blues and they played the Mens League team formerlly known as the Chicago Blackhawks. Talk about tankin'....

No one really knows but I think Price is done.

As for Allen, he's there so the tank doesn't look that obvious.

Also don't forget, despite being a high draft pick, Jack Campbell didn't become an NHL starter until maybe 2 years ago?  Dude turns 31 in January.

Jack really had only 1 full nhl season, and struggled in the end. His injury issues still on-going.  But as @coopaloop1234 said like many others, middle of the pack.

Terrible? Okay. He has had to play on shitty devils and coyotes teams his entire career seeing almost 50 shots a game with many high end chances. To have numbers like these doing that is impressive and since being on a mediocre Dallas team he appeared better stat wise. With any amount of defensive help in front of him he would have more attractive numbers. As for his age, goalies always have developed slower and many starters are around 30. Younger goalies actually playing in the NHL is a newer trend

Goalies that excel at this level stop pucks, even with mediocre D.  He's a backup at best, there is really nothing to talk about here. Just another nhl backup that will get 20 to 25 games and you hope he can get his GAA under 3.
