Dude don't get me started on that nonsense.  People who complain about strap weight should stfu and hit the gym.  Seriously.  All that is is someone looking for something to complain about.

yeah exactly. not like straps are gonna weigh you down lol

  2. Just a question in general-

what is the point of the qk5 plastic straps? i dont see it as a spot of weight reduction bc well, its straps, not like strapping is gonna weigh you down when playing unless you have  a crazy amt of straps like helleybuck or holtby.

anyone have a comparison in weight from a qk5 strap compared to a normal leather to see if theres any drastic weight difference?
    (Bold prediction- there wont be?)

I knew someone was going to ask about that! I have a small face (my face is so small that I run the chin cup in the 950X upside down) and it kept bothering the underside of my jaw so I put it there instead. I didn't want to cut the strap any shorter. The chin cup also fit better that way because there was less material between it and the shell.

cut it off. had the same issue with my 7700

man there is so much room that you'll have no mobility issues at all.... feels totally free but sturdy due to eh pillow on top of your hand.  Lets just say I'd let the VE8 pro carborn blocker eat crackers in bed any day....

ah nice. im used to the cuffs that have the lace in them which is obviously much different than the one on the v8

their description is pretty accurate.  The pad on the back of the hand is nice and soft but gives the firmness and control as if you were wearing it strapped down.  Tonnes of wrist room, and super comfy...

    from Vaughn...

    Details

Brand new for 2018, Vaughn Custom Sports releases the newest creation in their most accomplished Velocity family line, the Vaughn Velocity VE8 Pro Carbon Senior Goalie Blocker.

The VE8 blocker takes the most successful pieces of both the V7 XF and XR blockers. First, the board is based off of the V7 XF to give the goalie a lighter, balanced feel. The sidewall, palm and backhand protection is all from the V7 XR model which gives the goalie better articulation at the wrist.

This blocker has a very large presentation to the shooter, which is due to the bindingless design. The HD board on the inside is coupled with Carbon reinforcements to help reduce weight and increase protection. That Carbon material carries over to the sidewall to give the goalie the protection and confidence they need when squeezing the hand tight against the body. The adjustable tension adjustment has been removed and replaced by a contoured palm which has a tighter fit on the hand compared to older models.

Lastly the palm is built off of a full VX suede design which is double reinforced on the palm, thumb and all bindings where the stick might rest.

Compared to the Vaughn Velocity VE8 Pro blocker, the VE8 Pro Carbon blocker will feature higher quality materials and a North American build.

If you are a Vaughn Velocity enthusiast that wants a new improved feel that is based off of the traditional Velocity style blocker, while still encapsulated in the North American factories, look no further than the Vaughn Velocity VE8 Pro Carbon Senior Goalie Glove.

yeah i like the xf a lot and was thinking of getting a v8. was questioning the wrist strap system for wrist mobility

Thing is, with a soft pad, you do get to control the rebounds a bit. You can get them to die or go far depending on you you direct it.

Hard pads all kind of have one setting so to speak.

yeah for sure, just seems when i go to kick a rebound, it just sits there and it was all of a sudden. havent noticed it until today and ive been using these pads 2 times a week since december

My R/GT's used to kick out rebounds but have softened up as well. That's the life of a "hybrid"pad. Unless you go to a stiff pad you're going to find that along the lines.

However, pads have bee coming out with hard faces and softer boots. While the 1x is still a super stiff pad from top to bottom, the new premiers, G4's and Optik fly's and SLR's all have decent flex at the boot.

Check out those ones if you want hard rebounds with a softer boot.

i was checking out brians genetiks as well as all the ones you mentioned, minus the 1x bc of the uncomfort i had in them when i tried em.

i was checking out the p2s as well. according to ccm they have the same boot flex as the ef3s

not really that the soft rebounds are bad, theyre just different. had a game td and noticed it that the rebound just died. they didnt kick out and i was confused and had a lot of issues tracking the puck with them

  8. Having issues with my CCM Pads in terms of rebounds. Up until now the rebounds have really  been kicking out and as of late they have been super soft and been dying in front of me like they say they do and im not a fan of it.
Anyone have used any of the brians ¨hybrid¨ style pads and have anything that would be able to help me w this? Im a fan of the flex bc im not very flexible naturally so i like that they flex really well. especially down at the boot. dont wanna get custom.

@Max27 Curv is in both lines, but you're right, the Vapor's are the ones with the logo beside the knee cradle.  Supremes have the triangle at the top of the thigh rise.

There are a few goalies in what look like much more than just 2S pads with Vapor strapping.  I think Ward had Vapors skinned as Supremes last season too.  I wonder why they wouldn't just have them in 1/2X.  Player likes the graphic better?  Bauer wants more even representation of the lines in the public eye?

they skin it to promote the new pads. they do it in their player gear too. I.E Patrick Kane uses a total one stick skinned as a 1x lite to promote the stick even if he doesnt like it.

And youre right, for a part of last year ward had 1x w 2s graphic. Not sure abt the blocker bc if i remember right when he used vapors his blocker didnt have binding. likely a 1s.

  11. ward in 1x skinned as 2s pads? I think curv is only in the vapor pads and the poron is only in the supremes.

you can see by the across the knee strap the curv logo
