Where did you score that jersey bro??

I made it. Its a blank reebok Habs jersey. I removed the "Reebok" embroidery on the upper chest and then found a Habs crest on eBay. Paid a seamstress to sew it on.

Seeing some wear despite only using them approximately 5 or 6 times.

The little thread coming loose is on both knee cradles. Not a big deal though, I think. Trimming it and using a lighter might be enough to solve it.

The wear on the thigh rise, though, has been gotten a little bigger since I first noticed it after the second skate.

I'll throw some shoe-goo on it and hopefully it'll stop any more wear.

Further review will be coming. I have been in between C/As so I haven't had much opportunity to play.

I also have wear on my Ritual G4s in the exact same spot. Its really disappointing that after 1 ice time, it's already began to show wear. I expected some wear over a longer period of time but after 1 ice time... really dissapointing. I got my hands on some red padskinz and I'm going to patch it up tomorrow.  I had my G1s for over 3 years before any wear appeared in inside top corner of the thigh rise. I really loved my G1s and their durability was top notch. Not a loose stitch at all. So far, I'm a little bummed out with the build quality of my G4s. I have had a view other issues with my Ritual G4s that I plan to contact Warrior about.

Email - mike@kenesky,com or dave@kenesky.com as they are not listed on their website.

Five Hole Inc also makes them for $30 per pair. Check them out on their Facebook page.

@ULTIMA just a quick follow up - hopefully I have time for a more detailed review or video.

I did not find any bubbles on mine, but mine had a few issues on arrival similar to @Patrick Roy's Wink above. A few spots around the edges and some of the vent holes where the vinyl wasn’t perfectly adhered to the mask. Seemed to be only on curved areas FWIW.

My solution was pretty simple: I hit these areas with some medium heat with a hair dryer and pressed the vinyl into the mask. Two skates and several days later, everything is still perfect. JF is amazing to deal with and did a pretty great job with the install, so since the fix was really easy on my end, I am very happy with the final result. I haven’t asked him, but I’m wondering whether those issues were present when he finished his process or whether the vinyl pulled up later. Either way, looks like it’s in good shape now.

Keep in mind, he charges $180 CAD for the vinyl and the install, but more importantly, he does an original design for each buyer and is wonderful to work with. Great communication and he was willing to submit several proofs for me to review/approve.

+1 for this. Just used the hair dryer and it worked like a charm.

I gotta ask @Punisher Goalie @Patrick Roy's Wink @Imperative and anyone else who's gotta their mask wrapped

After the application was put on, were there several (or any) small air bubbles in the vinyl? Please be truthful

I carefully looked at my mask and I couldn't find or see any air bubbles.

One thing to note is that the wrap is done in multiple segments so there are seams everywhere that will likely lift and peel over time. I was thinking it was one large piece of vinyl that was masterfully places on the mask. Maybe common sense to some but I was a bit disappointed. There is some bubbling here and there and some sloppy creases on the edges of the Lemonhead on the back plate.

My mask is comprised of 6 pieces of vinyl. One on each side of the mask. One on the forehead and one on the chin which are used to hide the seams between each vinyl piece on the sides of the mask and 2 vinyl pieces of the back plate. One is the background and the other is the image. I knew going into this that multiple pieces were going to be used. Its not to noticeable and I don't mi nd it. My only real complaint is that I wish the purple stripe with black outline was cut in a cleaner straight line.

He took the image below and did some series photoshopping to make it work on a mask. He made several mockups to accommodate all my requests.  Overall I'm a happy customer and it was much cheaper than getting it painted. I highly recommend JF Aumais and I would consider getting another mask done if I had one! lol

I'll do a review by the end of summer or earlier regarding its durability.

  6. I use to drive a 03 Jetta. I had to place my bag in the backseat. The trunk opening was too small. I upgraded last year to a Toyota Highlander. Super easy to pack my hockey gear now. I lay the rear seats flat, grit sumo bag goes in first, then the pads just behind it and my sticks between the rear passenger seats.

  7. Figured I would post this here.

Anyone playing with a custom knee brace? I'm using the Don Joy Defiance 3 along with warrior knee pads. I just played one game with this and it seems a bit bulky in the knee cradle due to the brace, pants, knee pads and knee block. I haven't been keeping up with the latest gear. Is there any kneepads that are low profile but offer good protection?

  8. Hey fellow goalies,

Glad I found this place. I use to visit GSBB back in the day under a different name but that place has gone dry.

Anyways, a bit about myself. I started playing the position on ice around 12 years ago. Loved it so much that I attended a few of the Performance Adult Goalie Clinics that Dave Wells ran. Those were fun. Those sessions really improved my game. I went through a few different goalie pads before settling on my current set. I rocked KOHO 590s, Reebok pro series 2 and 3 before settling on Warrior Ritual G1 pads along with Brian's subzero catcher and blocker. I've been serious eye balling the new G4s. I love the innovations that Pete Smith and Warrior are bringing to the table.

I haven't played the past two years due to a torn meniscus and partially torn ACL. I injured my knee playing ultimate frisbee so it wasn't even doing what I loved most. I played my first game last week with the help of a custom knee brace and It felt DAMN GOOD to be back on the ice. I hope my injury days are behind me now. Looking forward to visiting here often and contributing when I can.

    Cheers!
