Bauer Konekt adjustment issues.

So I set my Konekts to the tightest it could go on the ankle but it wasn’t enough. I adjusted the hardware which allows you to tighten the ankle strap more but now the issue is I can’t snap the buckle closed because the extra length on the strap gets in the way. 
 

I’ll add a pic to make this make more sense. 
 

I was wondering if anyone’s had this issue and if you can cut that length off?

I've made similar mods like this to other gear in the past, you can do it. But you might want to have a boot repair shop (they probably have the equipment to get through the leather) do it as when you cut that piece you're going to want to readd a stitch across so you don't have the thread work itself out, including a lock stitch at both sides. Machine stitches work by having another thread pass through the loop from the main stitch, when you cut that, they unravel really easy so you need to at minimum readd a lock stitch.
