  1. Not to derail the thread from the gear but i have a question and pardon my ignorance and lack of gear knowledge. So each product line is supposed to fit a certain style, stiff pad vs. flexible. what is the real difference between a softer pad vs a stiffer pad since your shin doesn't actually move and its all hip and knee rotation. wouldn't thigh rise stiffness and boot be the only areas that would come into play? couldn't all pads essentially just have a soft boot and be stiff and it would cover everything? I just don't see the point of flexible pads since flexibility at the shin doesn't do anything. I see softer pads pushed more towards people who don't have flexibility but if your issue is lack of ROM with hips a softer pad wouldn't matter vs a stiffer pad since your body cant physically get into that position. only real thing is see between the two lines is boot angle and thigh rise shape/stiffness...trying to expand my knowledge
  2. @seagoal We are almost identical in sizing I'm 5'11 on good days but 5'10 by the evening. My FTK is roughly 20.5 too and i tried on a pair of medium M5's and a pair of large Hyperlites. They sit slightly different but i was landing hair over center on the medium M5's and kind of where you are landing in the Vapors. They are fitting pretty much how my 34 G5's fit and i am able to move around great in those without being clunky. I would take the advise of some of the members here and go with a medium if you feel comfortable in them. It might be hard to get your hands on a psir of mediums to test fit but that would tell you. My LHS doesn't have the widest selection, goalies seem to be the red headed step child, they have a whole giant store full of player gear and a small corner that us goalies are banished too. I wear PAW knee pads so they aren't as big as yours but i was still on the knee stack without too much thigh rise poking out and smacking each other. Try on some mediums if you can or even medium x3/hyperlites and just take into account that the machs SHOULD sit taller than the medium Vapors. Question though you stated that you have a narrow BF have you looked into the vapor line they are more curved in the thigh rise and could help close it. You are looking at what appears to be the stiffest and straightest pad on the market. I'm not telling anyone how to spend their money or what pads to buy, just some food for thought
  3. I’m going pro definitely on the glove and yes my OCD would also kick in and bug me especially if the blocker wore out and I had to try to match another blocker to the glove. right now it’s senior pads with pro glove/blocker or senior blocker
  4. Hey guys, What are the opinions on “pro” blockers vs senior blockers for upper level beer league. I know level of players vary from place to place and I currently play at a level some guys can shoot but for the most part I’m not getting huge wind ups blasted at me. My warrior pro blocker has been protective enough. my question is should I splurge on a pro Bauer blocker or save the cash and go with senior level. I’m playing once to twice a week and some weeks I don’t play. No practice or pick up just games at upper intermediate level. I’m getting a pro level glove but I usually think a blocker is a blocker but I don’t want the blocker to crap out prematurely.
  5. ya i get that its hard, sucks my LHS doesn't have any vapor gloves
  6. even though its 60 and not 75 like warrior would the vapor feel more like a warrior than the 75 mach? I know its not apples to apples
  7. My LHS doesn't have any vapor gloves to try on and after reading some reviews its more 590(ish) with the mach being 600(ish). In theory the mach should feel more like a warrior glove but its been pointed out different gloves from different brands don't line up exactly. When I tried on the mach the closure felt more finger dominate( Fingers tips to thumb tip. From my research it seems people have said the hyperlite SHOULD be more finger dominant. Is the vapor glove actually more finger tips closure or is it fingers the palm/ thumb meat? I have seen contradictory information online, would this be another personal preference on feel?
  8. I’m in the US but I’m getting them used for a good deal.
  9. Hey guys so I’m stuck on what size to get or model to get. I know the model part has a lot to do with personal preference so that’s more on me. I went and tried on some M5’s and some hyperlites just for sizing I would be getting 3x/x5 if I was to go with vapor. My LHS doesn’t have the widest selection. I tried on the m5 in medium and large in HL. I had my skates on and seemed to land on the knee stack with some room on both pads. The HL did have me landing slightly lower on the stack. I asked the associate there what he thought and got you look like you fit in both sizes. There wasn’t a lot of room to drop down and on carpet I was kind of in an awkwardly wide BF. When I’m on the ice will that change where my knee comes down since the pad can slide and move around more? My FTK depending on where I hyper fixate center is roughly 20.5, putting me in the end of medium and the start of large. Will the m5 steeper boot break down over time and shorten or should I expect the height to stay roughly the same? I’m currently in 34 warriors and landing little bit higher than center but it hasn’t seems to hamper my play at all. I would prefer smaller pads to be more agile and not clunky. as for the thigh rise the m5 definitely seems to have a bigger thigh rise due to the straighter profile. my concern is that if I was to go larger in M5’s(larges) the thigh rise would be too tall now and when I dropped down it would stick too far out in front of me messing with my stick placement. I’m little worried right now with the m5 messing with my stick placement. Several members have helped me so much and I don’t want to beat a dead horse but I’ll be ordering the pads online and can’t just easily exchange them.
  10. I’m sure this has been covers but my Google skills are lacking but what are the differences between the vapor and supreme blockers? I can see the obvious with the board shape and the thickness. The supreme seems more sloped and the board is thicker. The vapor is thinner and flatter. Do they play different or is the board higher than the other?
  11. Where are you landing on the stack? I'm right on the upper edge of medium and lower end of large. I'm trying to narrow down the sizing for bauer
  12. I get the same feeling from my warrior instead of a wrapping close it felt like it was two different pieces on hinges and snap close like a book. The break is in the center of my palm so I'm able to close the glove just by opening and closing my palm. Its not that i wasn't thrilled with it i was just expecting it to close like my warrior since its closer to it than the vapor glove. Would the Mach always be more of a finger close or would it breaking to more palm over time? I was under the impression the Supreme gloves were more hand and the Vapor was more fingers closure do i have it backwards? unfortunately my LHS does not have any vapor gloves to try on Weird thing is that with the M5 I am able to muscle it and close it more like my warrior but I'm guessing the extra padding in the Mach is not letting me do that without deforming the glove.
  13. Ya when i shoved my hand in and tried to close it like the warrior the front of the glove (side closest to the shooter) did not evenly meet up with the back of the pocket, if that makes sense. Instead of the edges meeting equally they were uneven. My guess is i was trying to make it close like my other glove but it wasn't broken in/ doesn't close the same. Do supremes always have that holding a can feeling or does that break in?
  14. Ok so went back and tried on the glove and still having some tightness issues. One thing I might be messing up is trying to get the glove to far onto my hand or put the break where my warrior feels. When I put on the Bauer and try to close it it feels like I’m wrapping my hand around a soda can. I k is the breaks aren’t identical but is that how the Bauer feels vs the warrior? My warrior feels like a single clean sharp edge in my palm. Once the bauer is broken in would it be more like the warrior break feel or will there always be a roundish feeling when closing the glove? I loosened Botha traps and didn’t even tighten them down and my fingers were smashed in the glove so I’m guessing I was jamming my hand in too far. the bauer off the shelf felt like I would need to pinch my finger tips to my thumb tip vs the warrior which feels finger to base of thumb/ thumb meat
  15. With the x5 coming out and the 3x being discounted is there any difference besides the graphic on the two lines? If it’s just graphics might be better to just grab some 3x
  16. Awesome thank you! Wonder if there is a difference between the 3x and x5 besides graphic
  17. Did you need to size up with the flatter boot?
  18. looking at puregoalie it seems like the X5 is as customizable as the 3X.Le trio hockey got my hopes up in their description that the thigh rise could be made stiffer. https://www.triohockey.ca/products/bauer-s23-vapor-x5-pro-custom-sr-751966-en
  19. well shoot maybe soon the U.S Bauer retailers will follow
  20. Where at? the retailers i have looked at in the states still has that stuff at normal pricing
  21. I have looked into the HL and would love a set but right now they are out of my price range and all the used ones look beat too crap That is why i was looking at SR level stuff and some lightly used pro stuff. Maybe once the HL2 drop retailers will discount them like the US. Kind of stupid Bauer wont let cross border transactions since its the exchange rate that is lowering the price not the retailer themselves. besides CCM all other manufactures allow this. Rance at TGC did mention the X5 but until your link i couldn't find any info on it. Still narrowing it down from X5,M5, or the new brians senior line.
  22. I was originally going to pick those up but they don't ship out of Canada and wouldn't ship them to me when i contacted them. Im landing near the top of the stack on my warriors so a little higher would probably be perfect. do the thigh rises break in and curve at all on supreme pads or they pretty stiff and hold their shape? There is a mach set near me but the thigh rise looks super straight and I don't have the widest BF
  23. What do you guys think of these? I'm really torn between new pads and used pads since i cant get them for around the same price but the US SHOULD be better built and last longer. Since the M5 and US are pretty close in build. I would need to try on a set for true fitment but im currently in warrior 34 so with the steeper boot angle i would think a 34 Bauer would fit me. https://sidelineswap.com/gear/hockey/goalie/goalie-leg-pads/6228892-bauer-ultrasonic-pro-goalie-leg-pads-34-medium-m-excellent-condition
  24. After a couple skates they are starting to feel better and better. I don't feel stuck anymore and can move around a lot better. I am still having a couple issues that i blame mostly on my poor technique. I don't get the same bite and push with the 3mm blades. I am able to shuffle a lot better but when i push in my BF i cant seem to dig in and just slide/skid along the ice with my blade, I'm blaming my technique. I also noticed that the small rubber texture piece near the toe seems to drag on the ice and slows me down. I'm guessing I'm pushing with my leg too vertical and need to make my leg more horizontal to plant my foot and get a good push. When I do push and slide i feel the rubber piece dragging on the lead foot too. I also took some advice and didn't lace the skate up to the top eyelet this mimicked where my old skate ended. I was able to get more mobility and flex out of the boot this way.
  25. Ive been told the M5's are the same stiffness as the US but just not as high end. Would a used set of US wear better than SR level Bauer stuff? This will be my first Bauer set and it seems like the thigh rise and boot area always wear first.
