  1. For you beer league guys what made you go with pro over sr?

I have been having an internal struggle whether or not to order some pads or pick up some sr stuff. My main idea of wanting to go with pro is pad longevity, spend a little bit more and get pads that will last and not break down. On the other hand after talking to some of you guys on here the general consensus is that warrior makes nice Sr level gear. If I can still take advantage of TGC presale the difference won’t be that much.

I play two times a week mid level nothing to demanding. I have probably talked myself in and out of ordering pads for about a week.

  2. Anyone know if the g5 blocker has changed that much since the g4? Besides the coverage + aspect.
g4 pro blockers are on clearance right now with more discount and personally I’ve never cared that much about blockers. If the G5 blockers are improved though I will just pick one of them up instead

I'm not sure what you mean?  I don't notice the thickness at all while playing.

I've never worn Bauer pads or gloves.  If the opportunity comes my way I'd love to try out the UltraSonic line.

I went X-stiff to try something as far away from the GT2 line as possible.  Not that I didn't like the GT's, but I've still got them and could roll back to them if the G5 set didn't work out for me.

So is it just xtra stiffness in the thigh rise area? Has it made shaping the pads more difficult? You mentioned just putting light pressure on them has helped you shape them.

    We agree on that one!

I agree that the G5s look wider, but when you put a tape measure on it they're not.  I think the dark colors, black sliding surface and vertical stitching on the GT2 set add to the illusion.

Thicker yes, but no heavier.  It's a huge win!

Steven, both are 35+2.  The GT2 set is more flexible at the knee and have stayed dead straight through the thigh.  I think they look shorter due to the hinging at the knee.  The G5's have taken on a really nice curve in a very short time and feel amazingly stiff through the thigh.  I expect that they'll keep a very nice stiffness for the life of the pad.  Both lines do a great job closing the 5 hole in my narrow butterfly.

The extra stiffness is just in the thigh rise area? I too have a narrower BF and was wondering about the extra stiff thigh area. I just don’t want to get them to stiff and not be able to close my 5 hole. What’s the reasoning for the extra stiffness in the thigh area vs stock stiffness? Just so the thigh rise doesn’t get too soft?

Warrior senior level pads/gloves uses the same internals as their pro level gear from the previous line (G4 senior uses G3 internals, etc.). Good route, if you're looking at senior gear.

I’m just trying to determine if taking advantage of TGC deal will put me around the same price point as regular price SR gear. If I’m spending around the same I’ll just preorder them now vs waiting.

Any other color options you can think of with the black base (and weave thrown in) with accents of the gray?

You could always make the outer roll either yellow or switch the grey to outer roll and gray stripe to yellow. I like the way you have it personally it’s clean and not overly crazy

  7. Anyone know the price point of senior level gear. I’m trying to compare the price of custom through TGC and just getting senior pads/ blocker and a pro glove.

While custom colors would be awesome playing intermediate beer league 1/2 times a week might only require SR level stuff

I’ve been following the G5 threads on here and have been thinking about pulling the trigger on a custom set and wanted to share it here first.

Not sure about martching the entire set or blacking out the gloves

That’s hard, either way I think it looks great. I’m personally a big fan of matching sets but having solid gloves would look good. I would probably go with a matching set if you are already going to custom order, but the difference is so small I would be happy with either.

i have had issues with this in the past and the usual culprit is not having my hands out front and engaged as much as they should be.  When they are further back I tend to naturally drop them as I go into butterfly and just don't have the time to get them back up if the shot is high.

I'm guilty of the same thing, I tend to find myself having my gloves almost right next to me. Its a bad habit I have to break since I seem to get beat a lot on my blocker side. I started to really remind myself to have hands out in front of me and track the puck.

All the California and New York teams will be pissed they didn't make the change first.  Could go with the Seattle Medusa and use Bernie Sanders as the mascot...

haha I like it, print em!

Well, that's a question for every new release. So only you can decide whether the changes are worth it or not.

The pictures look to have fixed the binding issue on the knee stack. Even the GT2, which still had a binding, was mostly fixed compared to the G4.

Would really depend on what pad you're currently in, but here's their sizing chart:

    warrior-g3-leg-pad-sizing-chart.jpg.910b4dc5186dd1395ce580f0d3b77ab0.jpg

Thank you for the chart, I'm currently sitting in Simmons 999s (34 +2) and before that I had reebok 9k's that were 34+1 but were a little too big for me. I was landing bottom of the knee stack.

  12. now the question is are the G5s worth getting or do you save money and get the G4s when everyone tries to unload them on sale. I wonder if warrior addressed some of the durability issues in the knee stack, etc..

Side note: I'm currently in 34+2 right now how is the sizing with warrior?

    Get a 25" CCM.  Easy.

They aren't the same size the 25 CCM falls a little smaller and the 26 are just too big. I know they aren't much but I like the little extra height warrior has but a 26 CCM is just too tall for me.

have a brand new CCM stick sitting at home in its wrapper because of this. I use to use 25 6K sticks but found my blocker side suffering from the short paddle.
