Nice looking set @cuprajake! Did you get it as stock retail? I'm still waiting on my custom set to be delivered - now been 11 weeks even though I was quoted 8-10 (and seeing some people get theirs in 6-7). Not particularly happy with TGC's lack of updates on it, and looking less likely that I will be able to get a few games in the new set before summer season starts for my league.

You aren’t  giving me much hope... I ordered my set from TGC and I’m on the backside of 7 weeks and was quoted 8-10 weeks too. I know everything is screwed up with covid but 11 seems pretty long especially like you said people have been getting there sets 6-8 weeks. Have you contacted TGC or warrior?

New member but, right now I ordered the g5's, warrior quoted 10-12 weeks, however they say that's subject to change if things start to open up again.

The gear is made off shore what would they need to open back up?! I’m on roughly week 7 so I hope it’s shorter than 12 weeks. Kind of ridiculous if it takes 12 weeks, I’m hoping 8 weeks...

I was was originally quoted 8-10 weeks in April, fingers crossed.

  3. I too have a 995 Simmons chesty that I’ve used for 7/8 years and have just recently started to get the odd ball stingers in random places. So far the unit has been great very mobile and protective. Only issues I had was the elastic holding the floaters to the body got stretched out and the floaters flopped around until my jersey was on to kind of hold them in place.

I just purchased a passau pro pack on sale for $400 and don’t think I could get a better unit for that price. I looked at the Simmons 1000 and honestly it looks just like the same 995 that I am wearing. I do not think they did to much to change it and I wanted to try something new.

Dont think you can go wrong with any independent smaller companies. To me it seems like the smaller guys offer cheaper or comparable prices to their bigger named counterparts. Why spend $500+ on a “pro” unit from Vaughn or ccm that doesn’t offer the same level of protection. Kind of a joke that you have to mod a unit right away so you are protected.

Now you're just showing off with your open ice times.

You're just making the lot of us sad that we're stuck not being able to hit the ice.

Maybe I shouldn’t tell that I’ve been back on the ice for the last three weeks....

  5. drives me crazy when websites put up "sales" and the prices are exactly the same as before the sale. For example looking at the GM sale all the sticks that they posted are the same price as before the sale

I ordered mine on 4/23 from TGC.   I had asked Warrior on instagram how long they were taking to make pads with everything going on.  He told me 8 weeks still and i said that I was about 7 weeks.  He asked for a picture of what I ordered and fired back a finished picture and said they would be uploaded eventually.  I just have no idea how long it'll take for TGC to get them from Warrior.  I talked to Rance yesterday and they don't have any yet.

You gave me hope I ordered mine on 4/14 so hopefully they will be done soon too.

  7. Like others have said I’m jealous that you got your pads in only six weeks. I ordered mine a couple weeks ago through TGC and was quoted 8/10 weeks but I’m sure that’s just a general time line. I can’t wait to get my pads since the rinks here are starting to open back up.

anything that you noticed in Particular that you want to point out? I actually saw your set posted somewhere and thought it was really nice and clean.

  8. Cr3 was my first composite stick and have always used foam core. I think I just like the stiffness and lightweight of the composite. Is the V1 senior equivalent to the cr3? It would be nice to have a top of the line stick but for the level I play I just can’t spend $150+ for a single stick.

As @MangoRhinehart says, these are high quality masks made at an extremely low price point. In my opinion, it's the best value equipment purchase you can make, especially if you've got American dollars. Approximately $500 US gets you a full Kevlar mask, which is what Michel would build, composition-wise, for his NHL clients. A Bauer VTX goes for $899 US. I believe the CCM Axis mask will retail $949 US.

Plus the Protechsport is fit to your head. And you have custom options - I'm sure everyone who visit this board regularly likes the sound of that. You can select your choice of cages, hole shape, mask/cage colors, chin cup/sling, chin length and more.

There's an old adage: "Buy once, cry once", but that doesn't really apply here because they are more than fairly priced.

Disclaimer: I'm a bit of a Protechsport cheerleader. Own two full Kevlar masks.

Don’t get me wrong I’ve heard nothing but great things and I'm always hearing people recommend them it just seems soooo long. I can barely stand waiting for 8-10 weeks for pads.

guess it’s a testament to the craftsmanship of the masks since people are willing and do wait that long. Like you said too you can get a lot of stuff custom on the mask at a great price point. I would order one and probably forget it did until it showed up one day.

Are the wait time last usually that long? I need a mask soon and would love to get a custom fitted mask. Right now I’m looking at an OTNY but it’s more expensive and less customizable than protech.

My current mask after a shot...

How much do we trust it?

As much as some local kid who’s working part time at a lhs. Maybe you guys are blessed with good stores but it’s a hit or miss on how well my skates get done with my lhs. I would pay less to get possibly a better sharpening or just end up with the same quality that I would get but cheaper. Aren’t professional teams using them along with large shops?

  11. Just saw these up on their site, that’s a pretty good deal for brand new pads. Wonder if they worked something out with warrior for pricing because that is a cheaper price point than when they originally posted the pads.

  12. ^^ it’s smart actually they are going to pay to get their skates done anyways. Why not do it cheaper and possible better and more consistent? If I had to pay $5 bucks instead of $10 and got a better sharpening o would do it

No leather attachment/no screws is the biggest. Also gives you the feel of the traditional skate but with the benefit of bungee

Thank you, I stumbled across the thread compair8ngvthe two right after I read your response.

Im looking to order some the websites give me an attachment style and when I pick TGC spec it drops the price by $25. That’s correct right? I don’t want to be missing pieces.

See Lucky Pucker's post, their gear stuff has been diverted. They're still making things that couldn't be converted as far as I have interpreted (like sticks, which are made in Mexico). I'm totally open to being wrong and this is in no way meant to make it sound like they're not helping the efforts.

When I placed my order for my G5 set last week it wasn’t mentioned about them not producing gear right now, and I see warrior posting new sets of G5 pretty often. Was also told 8/10 week wait time. Maybe their goalie equipment factory can’t or wasn’t outfitted for 1st responder gear. Since NB owns them they might of had enough shoe factories that converted that the goalie side didn’t need to be converted.

this is all speculation and guessing.

  15. One of the reasons I’m finally stepping away from Simmons. My 999 pads dont slide that well unless the ice is fresh, I’ve had times I’ve pushed off hard to get across and I slid a couple inches and just stuck.

If you google Maria goalie training I know she did a review of some Pad wax stuff. I also think goalieparts sells some stuff called ice kream or something along those lines.

Thoughts on this colour blocking? Haven't seen any others use it but it reminds me of Demko's current set.

I like the purple and black but then again I’m partial to those colors seeing j ordered my set with them and I’m a kings fan.

The way I understand Warrior sizing is that the knee stack would drop by 1/2" and you would then have 10" above the kneecap where I have 10.5".  So yes, the net effect would be that you'd have 1/2" less above the knee stack (you'd actually have 8.5", as the front of the pad sits 1/2" higher than the black area.

So most likely a 1.5 stiffer pad will play the same if not slightly taller than a +2 softer pad. If my old pads settled at all most likely my knee is landing higher and the pads are smaller than they were where as a stiffer pad that sits higher and puts my knee lower would be around the same thigh rise height?

Oops, forgot to check mid knee to pad tip when I went home for lunch. I'll get that this evening.

Please correct me if I’m wrong since you’re is 35+2 a 34+2 would be 1/2 inch shorter? So the thigh rise would be 8.5?...the way you measured it

looking at the sizing chart a 35+2 is 34+2.5 so a stock 34+1.5 would be 8”?
