I have the hybrid prolaces, so I used the aglet end of the skate lace ties that came with them to push under one hole and out the other (used a pair of needle nose pliers to pull it through). I'll grab a picture and post it when I am home from work.

The G5 does not have washers there, so it was pretty easy to install. I tugged on it a bit after I installed them and it seemed pretty secure. If there was a good way to access and lengthen the toe ARS strap, I wouldn't have bothered with the prolaces. But as it is, it doesn't look like you can't really get under that piece of grey jenpro that is over the elastic without ripping some stuff. To be fair, I did not try very hard because they are brand new pads and I didn't want to break anything on them :)

While they have a very flexible boot, they fit about the same (maybe a little smaller) because the angle of the boot is steeper and there is a bit of padding under the boot area, compared to the very flat boot on the EF4.

So you think that they are a little smaller than the ccms or the other way around?

I was thinking of putting my pro laces in that spot but didn’t know if there was enough material there to hold the laces without them tearing the material.

My set was delivered yesterday, and I used them for the first time last night, as well. Definitely need some adjusting coming from the EF4 pads. It felt to me like even on the loosest setting, the ARS toe ties were still a bit tight, so I took off the boot strap and put on the prolaces for my next skate. They slide great and feel very stable, so once I get them dialed in I'm going to really enjoy them. Also, they are crazy light - my 32+2 pads weigh 1833g per pad, where the 32+2 EF4s weighed 2191 g per pad (almost 0.8 lbs lighter per pad).

How did you attach your prolaces? Did they fit smaller than your ccm’s, under the impression ccm is about one size bigger.

Really there's no reason to not use Warrior's system until it wears out.  I've used the Warrior elastic, Brian's original Smart Straps and a couple different bungee ties.  At the end of the day there are really no significant differences between how the bungee ties and the Warrior system function.

Believe I read that they made the stock strap a little longer? This is good if it’s true because when I tried on the G4’s I definitely felt my ankles being pulled up and made it a little Uncomfortable.

I think the warrior stock set up will work just want to have options especially since I bought pro laces already....

No more screwing in.  Kinda like Apple taking away 1/8th inch audiojacks on their phones.  Just assuming it's not gonna be used anymore.  You're sleft with the two small holes and maybe that big hole to work with for alternative tie methods.  I need to see it up close myself, as I don't see how these two little holes will hold up against a lace ring getting slammed around and not ripping out.  Hopefully it's beefed up somehow.

That was my thought process too, it seems like the holes and material would tear easily. Might have to get TGC spec ones and tie them through the slits? Might be warriors way of making you use their toe ties like apple did with their jack.

Kova is sorta expensive and other than those are there any other cheaper but good suspender options?

They are a little pricey for custom ones but the stock aren’t that bad and they are pretty well made from the short time I have had mine. Think of it this way you can spend $50 for kova and get quality suspenders or the $15/20 for retail ones that will to be replaced 2/3 times a year.

I was tired of replacing  mine and the kova ones are more comfy on the neck

You are not seeing it correctly.  He's running a set of prolaces the same way the original Warrior elastic is ran.  The lace in the toe bridge is the stock lace that held the piece of foam in there.  Would be easier to see if he pulled it apart a bit.

Isnt there usually a flap? This looks like the flap is stitched down to the pad. I guess you could run the laces through the slits but what if you wanted to screw them in?

  7. Unlesss I’m not seeing it correctly the toe area of the G5’s is different than the previous  years. Then other years had that flap you could tie/screw into but the G5’s toe area is just that slit on the bottom of the pad with two holes and a spot for the elastic toe area.

Got my set in today and I am extremely happy with them even with the extra wait. Looking forward to getting them on the ice this weekend, the glove is really snappy and just needs broken in to open it up and present bigger. My biggest worry is how to get my prolaces on them too. The thigh rise is definitely much thinner than on my SLR pads.

What size did you go with? The set looks killer I like the pop of the logos off of the dark backing.

when did you order yours again?

Because max Aesthetics > Max Performance

Exactly! Don’t you know that matching good looking gear is more important than actually play well? If you can’t actually play well at least look like you know what you are doing.

I'm curious how they're going to install, could you post some photos when you've got them setup?

I’m wondering that too, I ordered a set a while ago while waiting for my pads but I saw the toe area of the G5’s and don’t know where I’ll attach them. I know there are two small holes but I think the constant tugging there would eventually rip the area, since there isn’t to much material in between.

Hey thanks! I cant remember my exact FTK but I re-examined given I was landing really low on the stack on my G4's and found out my measurement fell dead center on the 35" sized pad.

I've been in some CCM pants for a bit but I might switch back to Warrior. I tried a V8 Pro Pack for a while but went back to the Passau. I actually have a custom Kenesky getting built now.

That’s going to look pretty slick with your gear. Some premiers pants? I got a passau on the way, got a great deal on it. How you like the Vaughn, I have been eyeing their chest and pants.

I also want your knee pad set up, after watching your video on your garter belt set up I can’t find the Vaughn style. Going to rig one together. You find the belt holds up the  knee pads better than taping?

I just got my set in today and I've done an overview video.  They're looking better than the G4's right off the bat, we'll see how they play.

    I’m jealous of you!!

what’s your FTK and what size did you order? The pads look awesome, like the new color way you came up with. You still rocking your passau C&A and warrior pants?

I ordered 11 weeks and 2 days ago. Should arrive at my door by EOD next Monday, because they're shipping to the USA. That's part of why I had to jump on this deal - not only was it a great combo package anyway, but with the CAD --> USD conversion, it's basically an entire set for the price of just what you'd pay for pads in the USA.

Ya that’s the o my reason I went with custom pro stuff because of the value of the USD to CAD plus they marked the pads down even further. Think my whole set cost the same as just the leg pads from GM

Just got the email that my set arrived at the retailer. Hopefully they can send it out to me today (should be about a week in transit from the store to my house). If Warrior sent it in a big batch, maybe yours arrived, too?

That’s awesome since you have been waiting so long. You ordered yours from TGC and what date?  Hopefully mine arrived, haven’t gotten any emails yet *fingers crossed*

hopefully i didn’t miss this one and don’t have to wait till next shipment

so the email from hockey monkey is basically,

    not our fault

    "Hi Jake
These protections were just delivered to us when we sent them on to you so they have never left their box except in case of packaging so probably these damages have been delivered when they were sent all over the earth 2 times. Of course, we feel it is boring, but we cannot control so much over the quality of Warrior's protection. but if you want to undo your purchase and send it back to us, we will of course help with that"

Realistically since the pads are so new and they are from some warehouse GM probably never opened the box they came in from warrior. In the end it’s warriors QC that shipped them. If you would handle it money wise you could always order another set and send these backs so you would have less down time.

So today had a bit more time with the gear.

Noticed this on the tee of the catcher its a hole,

Not the best,  as its in a high wear area, ive emailed hockey monkey to see what they say, just my luck, i can accept the wrinkles on the air slide, although they werent present on my g4, wonder if qc is a bit lax

    20200606_160947.jpg

Contact GM and warrior and bring up both issues. If you haven’t used them and have the patients I would swap them out. The hole isn’t a big deal but the area like you said is a high wear area so why risk it. As for the leg pads that’s pretty crappy, swap them out for new ones.

I asked them about that before I ordered and was told that Warrior was still making and shipping sets - if that changed after the order was placed, it would have been nice to know. Even if no one was physically in the store, it shouldn't preclude them from answering emails and contacting people. Which goes back to my initial point - just be proactive with your customers, and we'll be happier and less likely to gripe on the internet :)

Agree with that, yes there was a pandemic that no one could foresee or estimate the impact it would of had but knowing things would be back logged it would of been nice to have warrior blast an email out to all their distributors and say hey we are going to be slow at getting order out thus letting the stores tell their customers. If warrior had no way of knowing this would mess with their production then that is a pretty poorly ran company that can’t keep track of its production times. Someone at warrior would/should have seen production dips.

I don’t blame anyone it was out of their hands it’s just more of a courtesy things since people are dropping $1500+ bucks on their products.

just griping because I want my pads since I’m starting to play again. Not  holding anything against warrior or retailer’s

I worked with customer service on a separate issue and had received this response on May 27th after a week and a half wait on response: "I sincerely apologize for the delayed response.  A new pair of pants will be shipped out to you as soon as possible.  Please be patient with us as we just re-opened our warehouse with limited staff and we have 3 months of orders to get out the door. " Plus who knows if and when production got delayed as shutdowns were worldwide.  Good luck to you guys waiting on sets.  I'm sure they're in process.  I'm still waiting on my pants but it is what it is, just have to be patient.

I know covid threw a wrench into the whole process, I’m just impatient and want to get my pads. I’m still waiting for almost a month a half on my passau pro pack. If I didn’t such a great deal in it I would of probably went a different route

I talked with TGC yesterday, and they said they hadn't received anything from Warrior in a while. He did mention that apparently Warrior had switched their shipping to retailers from DHL to UPS. To be fair, I have had universally terrible experiences with UPS deliveries to my house when every other carrier finds it just fine, but I don't know how much of a difference that makes for commerical customers (vs. residential). Also, he said their point of contact at Warrior got furloughed, but it didn't seem like they're putting in too much effort to find a different person to work with for the time being. Seeing as they did the half down, half when it gets there, you'd think they'd be pushing Warrior to actually get them the set so they can get the rest of the money for it.

I messaged Kirk on here around the 10 week mark, too, to see if he was able to give me an update, but didn't get a response.

You would think that warrior being owned by NB and having a pretty big hockey presence they would have someone to answer questions. Other people seem to be getting their gear and warrior keeps posting sets on their IG. They did get half their money but they probably don’t get charged until the pads ship from warrior so they just pocketed that money and can sit on it. I don’t see why switching shipping carriers would make a difference they would still get some updates on the pads whether they shipped or not.

im not at 8 weeks yet, but you being at 11 weeks would make me grow impatient.

Nice looking set @cuprajake! Did you get it as stock retail? I'm still waiting on my custom set to be delivered - now been 11 weeks even though I was quoted 8-10 (and seeing some people get theirs in 6-7). Not particularly happy with TGC's lack of updates on it, and looking less likely that I will be able to get a few games in the new set before summer season starts for my league.

Just got an email from Rance at TGC and said they only have had one set from warrior show up.... warrior hasn’t officially said there is a delay to them but he thinks there is a couple weeks push back.
