Finally got around to trying out a different paddle grip. Shaved down the front shoulder to ~90 degrees, gave a huge slope to the back shoulder and put a little index finger trigger to try out. Will probably end up making a bigger trigger but I also poke-check and play the puck often so don't know how it'll feel/perform.

    1. Textbooks? What decade is this? Do they still publish hard copies of books?

    2. Two weeks of studying? Bad idea. Just the hours before an exam. 13 days of video games and just a few hours of cramming is all you need. Wing it like a pro.

    3. Don't listen to me. I graduated undergrad in just 6 years (3 different colleges and it was a 5 year degree). I also just graduated from grad school this past May. I started grad school in the fall of 2001. Yes, 2001 as in 9/11 happened in my first week of class.

Everyone goes at their own pace, but congrats for graduating from grad school!

And yes for most classes they still have the physical textbooks because I can't be bothered to go online and skim through pages for hours on end. I'd much rather go through a physical copy.

I wish this exam was one I could cram for, I started studying since the end of my semester in April for this exam in mid-August. Medical School Admissions exams are a pain. I just went offline for my last 2 weeks of studying then gave myself a break from everything for some time after

Premier pads are an acquired taste for sure. You are starting to see less and less of them as better options come about.

Ya I got them more on a whim, after the Bauer One90 boot completely collapsed and was popping rebounds into the slot, I elected for the steepest and stiffest boot on the market and now realize that that is not what I like. Definitely an antiquated style of pad

Interesting. I found the purpose of eliminating the boot strap was to free up the ankle for better movement range and less stress.

I wonder if an elasticated boot strap would be a good common ground for you?

I found that the better movement range with the CCM Premiers resulted in losing control of the pads. Mind you I haven't been much of a fan of them, so the super stiff and steep boot makes me lose control. I could see why price with his tight leg, soft boot EFlex's was one of the notable people to start the trend.

I agree with ya, I was looking at the Bauer CRS straps or Brian's as something I'd probably prefer. Also gives me an excuse to eventually go back to Bauer after ditching my old supreme One90 pads that I loved

That's one thing I've never attempted is the Lundy Loop. I think I just never figured out it's purpose and why people use it.

Same.  I've had one for a  while now and have not once used it.

I found that it helped the pad lift when I dropped down, similarly like the no boot strap does, but much more controlled in my experience. I also like the feeling of a tight boot that is next to impossible to get with my boxy CCM Premiers, so I get to keep that feeling with the lundy loop.

I really don't think the nonsense that's regularly spewed in this topic is worth it. :giggle:

Better than the textbooks I have been reading for the past few weeks 😅

And when the topic of ditching bootstraps comes up, I'll always be intrigued because I have never been able to get used to having no boot strap and always go for the lundy loop.

@dretti33 Hank’s grip is my favourite.

How have I never seen that grip before, that seems interesting. I'll definitely try that one out. What's the purpose of the front shoulder at a 90 degree angle?

Picked up these 2 sticks today for $13 a piece (thanks to National Sports closing down), and was thinking of messing around with them. Anyone got any trigger grip ideas, hyperlite pentagrip-esque ideas to try out that have worked for you? Also would be open to 3D printing something.

I also got these in a 24 and 25 to try some new lower paddle heights, since I've always used a 26 being 6'2, so excited to get on the ice and try something smaller

Most popular guess in the comments, by far.

Those teeth and goatee are the dead give away, what I'm interested is seeing that Flower is ditching the CCM bucket and going with the pros choice mask. Could we see more of his equipment change from his gold Lefevre 4.1 set and the 12.2 catcher?

No kidding, Evander Kane seems like a super nice guy (sarcasm)

There's always something going on with Kane. Hopefully for the integrity of the sport it proves to be untrue, but jeez this is rough

I’m a bit late to the party but I’m not sure what Dallas is thinking. Picked up Holtby but already have Oettinger, Khudobin, and questionable Bishop. Maybe Holtby is expected to help get Otter’s feet truly on the ground and fill the roll bishop was supposed to for this season. (It’s also been awhile since a ccm goalie was on the stars the last one to my memory was bishop or lehtonen my mind would be blown if otter and bishop can get Holtby in bauer)

I think they are planning on sending Oettinger down to develop, and bring in Holtby to hopefully get his game back, and help out while Bishop is still out. Otherwise I have no clue what their plan is.

I wonder if someone, like an assistant, had to sheepishly walk into the room when the GM was all done saying "there that wasn't so bad" and the assistant was like:  "umm.....sir.....we.....uhh....have no goalies, like, we have zero goalies under contract."

    "Goalies?  what are those again?"

"you know, sir, the weird guys with the weird expensive gear who stand around in the blue crease."

"ah, yes, Goalies! let's get some.  who's available?"

"uhh, Craig Anderson and Aaron Dell."

"wonderful! here's $2M.  good luck young man."

Kevyn Adams forgetting to have a goalie on their roster is 100% accurate. Did they even try to resign Ullmark, the goalie they had protected? He was a solid goalie too. You'd think they would rather keep the one younger goalie on the team, unless Ullmark was just so scarred from this past season.

Alright here is my consolidated recap of the recent goalie carousel in the NHL, starting with Seattle, because, why not.  Goalies and their new home:

I'm not gonna recognize the league next year! That's a lot of movement! Thanks for the recap list Seagoal!

As a Leaf fan no Fn thanks.  Campbell isn't playing 40 plus or 50 plus, I can't see it, if he is, he will struggle.  I have seen Mrazek at the best of times with D and the worst without, even though the Leafs looks good defensively last year it was for a short season vs most teams who wouldn't be making the payoffs.  We are taking steps back, thanks to Dubas moronic signings of 3 players over 10 million and another just under 7.  Can't build a team like that.

It will be a long season.

I wonder how much the goalie coaches and staff working with the goalies got a say in any of these moves. I heard that Vancouver signing Halak was a targeted move initiated by the goalie coaches.

As a leafs fan as well (but also a fan of most goalies since cheering for Toronto can be painful at times), I loved the win streak with Campbell during the season and he played very well in the playoffs, but I'm hesitant to give him the reigns. A split with Mrazek also gives me some hesitancy, with injury history and all that. Leafs are not going on any deep runs unless we can snag players (the likes of campbell and spezza last season) that play way above their pay to make up for the 4 up front making too much money.

I'm reading that the Leafs have more interest in Jones or Mrazek now?  I think I would take Jones at a lesser price.

I'm scared with the interest of either due to their history with injury. Jones hasn't been hot for a little while so I'd spend a bit more to get Mrazek. But then again, the leafs are in no position to be spending more money
