Hey, sorry I missed this. I was away the day you asked the question and I wasn’t checking. I am in Canada so that checks out. I still haven’t received my order yet. I followed up this week and was told “hopefully in the next couple weeks”.

I was quoted 14+ weeks so we shall see. I placed my order January 18th.

I saw these videos too. I think I made the right choice going with them over the V10. The carbon core, the integrated knee block, and the thicker HD foam in the blocker will feel more similar to my Hyperlite’s. I went with the soft boot and soft thigh flex (double break). My hips are getting stiffer as I get older. I did end up placing an order last week. Going to give the 70* glove a try. I did end up going back to customized and placed an order for these:

I’ve been looking hard at the SLR4 line. I’m currently in a set of Hyperlite’s. I was originally looking at a “soft” pad (which don’t exist anymore). I started off looking at True PX3 and Vaughn V10. After seeing them in store and seeing how stiff they are, I started looking into “stiff” modern pads. My team wears sport gold and black jerseys. I was playing with the customizer and came up with the first 3 photos. I was approached this week about a job in another province. If I end up moving, my new team probably wouldn’t wear yellow jerseys and it would look off. Went back to the customizer and came up with the last 3 photos.

It appears that they are starting to arrive at retailers.

I haven’t heard anything more specific than “Spring 2024”

Couple weeks late but the customizer is finally up: https://vaughnhockey.com/customizer/?modelId=vpg-slr4-pro-carbon

  9. I don’t have experience with the goalie bag but my daughter has the player bag and I have the Louise backpack for coaching. My daughter loves her bag. She likes the organization it provides. She also likes the built-in mat. It’s also ventilated which is nice. The quality is top tier. At that size, I would expect a goalie bag to fit the pads as well. However, it appears that the organizer would prevent the pads from being able to fit. I’m somebody that likes to carry everything in my bag. I bought the Passau backpack bag last year. It has skate and mask pockets but the main compartment doesn’t really have any other organization. It makes it so much easier to walk through doors and narrow hallways with the backpack. It fits all my gear and shows no sign of wear.
  10. Thank you! That’s helpful. I can’t believe there is somebody else in a 31” pad haha. I didn’t know they made 31” senior pads but I guess they’ve started doing that as boots have been getting flatter and flatter. I’ve looked for a Vaughn sizing chart but couldn’t find a Vaughn specific chart.
  11. I drove 3 hours yesterday to check out some True PX3’s. Unfortunately they didn’t have my size to try on. They only had 33” pads, which were way too big. I was recommended a 32” but I’m concerned even those would be too big. According to the True sizing chart, my 18” FTK puts me in a 31” pad . The V10’s caught my eye and I think I might have preferred them to the True. Again, they didn’t have my size. I know they changed the boot and they fit bigger. For people that have tried both the Vaughn and True’s, would the V10 sizing be equivalent to the True? Should I be looking at a 31” V10?
  12. I’m going to try on some PX3’s tomorrow. I don’t have a local hockey shop that stocks the PX3’s so I am going to have to drive 3 hours to try on pads that are probably too big. I think I need a 32” but he only has 33”. I should have a good idea if the 32” will work or not. Anyways, here is what I conjured up if I end up ordering a set. I’m definitely an old school goalie and love the vintage look. However, I wanted some pops of colour with the sport gold and red (Canucks skate jersey). I tried the L87 graphic but it looked off with the colour. It’s too bad the camel brown shows up more yellow on the customizer.
  13. After I posted this, that’s exactly what I did. You are exactly right that the mask extends further down the chin and behind the ears. Maybe it’s designed that way for more protection but it was catching on my shoulder floaters when I was looking to the sides and it was harder to look down. I preferred the feel of the Bauer with my chesty so I kept that and I sent the CCM back.
  14. Long-time lurker, first-time poster. Sorry to high jack this thread. I am just getting over a concussion. Took a shot off the cage of my Sportmask Pro 3i. I was stupid and finished the game after I instantly got a headache and knew something was not right. I had post-concussion symptoms for 6 days and I’ve been slowly making my way through the return to play protocol. I am hoping to play my first game on Saturday since the concussion. I know goalie masks are NOT designed to prevent concussions and I honestly don’t think my Sportmask was at fault. I truly believe it was simply bad luck. That being said, I need my brain for work and I don’t think I can afford another concussion. My wife also encouraged me to buy a new mask. She has never encouraged me to buy a new piece of gear so I took it. I had narrowed down my choices to the Bauer 960 and CCM XF Pro. I was able to try the Bauer on in store and actually found the NME One fit better (in a medium). The medium 960 was too narrow in the temple and the large felt too long even tightening up the elastic chin cup. It also felt a tiny bit wide in the cheeks. I ended up picking up the NME in a medium. I was not able to try on the CCM in my city so I bought a large one online. It was delivered today. I tried it on as soon as it was delivered. The foams were cold and it initially felt way too narrow. As the Nest Tech foam warmed up, the mask actually fits quite well. Both masks fit around the same but they feel different (if that makes sense). I will be returning one. I like the idea of the Nest Tech. The hesitation I have is that it’s a new technology not yet used in a goalie mask. I’m sure CCM did their due diligence and tested the foam. I understand it’s different that than foam used in the Tacks X helmet, which was atrocious in the Virginia Tech testing. I know there are people here that know a lot more about mask technology and how they should fit. These are the 2 masks in question.
