Hipster is the new emo man. Give it a year or two and it'll be phased out.

Sure as hell hope so... it's been going on for over 5 years and I am getting sick of these D-Bags.

Is the craft brewery scene as obnoxious as it is here in the North West?

Our ridiculous proportion of effing Hipsters is what makes it so obnoxious up here.

  3. @und3rd06 removing the collar will definitely help cool you down, it will give the body heat a better chance of venting out.

The biggest reason for the bulkiness you are feeling is the wider shoulder floaters you ordered.  No amount of breaking in is going to stop those from impeding being able to put your arms in front of you.  With the width of those, you could probably remove that white floater piece directly above the elbow floaters.  I can see that being redundant and factoring in the bulkiness.
Were it me, I would remove the collar and trim the shoulder floaters back to the about where that white stripe is... similar to my pic of my JB553 a couple of posts up.

You know, as an Islander, I'm surprised you didn't have Lucky as #1.

Funny story.. years ago I was at Merrit Mountain Music Fest... wandering through the campgrounds and these guys had a HUGE pyramid of empty Lucky cans... I said "you boys are from the Island aren'tcha?"   Yep, they were from Comox!

Many a night forgotten thanks to Lucky....  the National Beer of Vancouver Island

  5. I'm old and "get off my lawn"-ish.... I like plain ole beer!  Nothing fancy at all like MicroBrews and such, they give me a headache in fact.  Hate dark beer too, Guiness looks like a big cup of Chewing Tobacco spit...

    1- Miller HighLife
    2- Miller Genuine Draft
    3- Budweiser (Canadian version)
    4- LoneStar from Texas
    5- Michelob
    6- Henry Weinhard's
7- Lucky (if you are from BC you will know Lucky!)
    8- Kokanee

    How’d you land those?

Backpack I bought 2 years ago from The Hockey Shop in Surrey, BC.
Golf bag I bought off a local Used website... looks like it has seen maybe 2 rounds of golf.  Really nice bag, and happily matches my backpack.
I had seen one of the golf bags about 5 years ago and have been looking for one ever since.

usually a refurb includes the hardware, padding, etc...  I didn't deal with Ray directly, but I have an Eddy Custom Kevlar that he did the refurb on for someone else.  Looks brand new.

Did you buy that Custom Kevlar that was on eBay recently?  Beautiful refurb job on that one.

My CR1 25” is a lie 14 and feels a little short. Crazy how much the lie can impact things and that the industry has basically gone away from discussing that at Retail. Overall, CR1 seems like a solid stick

Even though both sticks are variations of the Price curve, the Warrior plays almost 1" shorter because of the differences in lies.

I have noticed this as well.  Lie of the stick used to be much more important when the blade to paddle transition was a much more pronounced angle _/  whereas nowadays sticks at the retail level have a much much more rounded heel (The exception being most Warrior and some Vaughn sticks).  However, when you look at many of the sticks the pros are using in games, you can see there is not as much rounding of the heel as there is on retail sticks.
The rounding of the heel makes the lie of the stick much less relevant as you can rock the stick blade just a little, change the lie thus the height of the paddle without changing how much blade actually touches the ice.

I prefer a stick with a more pronounced/defined blade to paddle transition.  They are getting harder to find at the retail level.

Thank you! They are exactly as your described, and I do love them.

These were custom, kind of a combination of their Pop's Pro Retro  and Pop's Pro Vintage pads. I'd say they're basically the Vintage line, but with modern protection on the back of the pad. Mike at Kenesky helped me a lot in terms of deciding on the build.

I can't entirely remember what the turnaround time was... I want to say it was 10 weeks from when the order was placed. In all honesty, I held up the process a lot by going over my order 10+ times before giving finally Mike the go-ahead to start building them, and by the time I submitted the order, he'd gotten pretty busy with some orders for the KHL and some other clients. The process did involve a little patience with the turnaround time and communication, but I feel that's to be expected (and accepted) when working with a smaller company. I was treated well by Mike the whole time, he was a real pleasure to talk gear with, and in the end he delivered a beautiful custom pad with every single detail I requested. I have nothing bad to say about my experience with Kenesky!

That said, things seem to have picked up at Kenesky recently with hirings and increased interest, so I have no idea what the turnaround time will be like these days.

Also... were you GNaz back on GSBB, by any chance? If you were, I seem to recall you had a cool Hextall avatar (I spend way too much time on that site..). I saw that someone had a pretty cool Hextall-inspired set by Kenesky. Not saying you'd be interested, but I thought it was nice work!

Thanks for the great response and info!  I have been spending a lot of time on the Kenesky website the past couple of months haha!  I saw that Hextall inspired set, so nice!  Probably within the next year I will touch base with them about getting a set done.

And yep, that was me on the GSBB!

Terrible photo, but can anyone ID this Eddy mask? I can pick it up locally for $40, just wondering if it's worth a refurb or not. Thanks for any help!

    00v0v_3kgGyhV4ktu_1200x900.jpg

It's an older model, from the late 90's, or VERY early 2000's.  Eddy stopped using the Eddy sticker by the cage window around then.
If the padding goes to and is around the ear vents it will be a GT.  If there is no padding around the ear vents it will be a Pro or Custom Kevlar.

Solid masks, as long as it is not one of the plastic "goaltec" model.  I would pick it up if it were me, but then again, I am partial to them!  Heck, the cage is worth that!
