I can feed you some connections if you're looking to pic and choose when you can play. PM/DM me if interested. All in Ottawa. I'm hurt and I appreciate that they keep looking me up for updates, but in the meantime, you know...

Maybe I should try and get a work assignment in Ottawa, ha.  Wife and kids stay home and I play hockey and make travel wages.

grab a hip d3o  pad and throw it in the glove, very easy to do, 5 min max.  ebay or old pants with that foam

Can you explain that a little? I've been getting nasty stingers lately in my G5 glove, but I don't really want to replace it unless absolutely necessary.

  3. Not gonna lie and say I didn't get lucky, because that certainly was part of it, but I got a good paying government job with a pension which I started at the ripe old age of 20. I'll never be "rich" doing this, but also shouldn't ever be paycheck to paycheck as long as I'm not an idiot with spending.

I should probably invest more than I do, but my viewpoint is that as long as all the bills are paid and there's some extra for potential emergencies, all is well. I'd also rather make memories and do things I like now rather than be a miser and have more money in retirement. I could die next week and know that at least I got to take my kids to Disney World and whatnot.

My advice is don't take advice from r/wallstreetbets :o

  4. So far I've got 2 recurring weekly skates and 2 teams asking me to play for them, so I can imagine I'll be about as busy as I want to be. Couple that with one kid in skating and another in minor hockey and I think I'll be taking up residence at the rink.

Trying to get my 16 year old son to watch this. He's kinda bored. I told him other kids you play with will be quoting this show - you need to learn this.

The show hits so well after having experienced high school, junior and senior hockey. Maybe it just isn't quite as relatable at that age yet.

  6. Update from Warrior. No update.

"I am not seeing the slide plate kit in our system so it appears as of this time we aren't offering it, so unfortunately I do not know when that will be available."

I logged in to say don't sleep on drinking plenty of water and avoiding being underhydrated or dehydrated.  I see there was mention of that already a few times, which is great.

Start several days in advance, too, not just the morning of, in between, and after playing.  Proper hydration is an ongoing, long term commitment rather than a spontaneous action in a given moment or situation.

Ah, you must be a member of r/hydrohomies.

That's what I've been doing. Also been bugging Warrior Goalie on Insta for weeks now on when they are shipping. I also have G5's😄

I will post here the moment after I find and order a pair, hopefully you do the same!

I'm going to keep them in case I get an itch to try them again.  I'm letting a buddy demo them right now on his 20.1's.

The incessant scouring of online hockey stores will continue for me in that case.

WATCH IT!!!!!! 39 years young! 😂

Let me know if you guys have any questions, I've been skating with some pros while wearing them and have started figuring out how I want them setup.  I did take the slide plates off but I might slap them back on if I drop some weight, they're insanely fast and I think if you get a pair you should give them a chance.

I'm working on putting together a video of what pads the plates can fit on too.

I will buy those slide plates from you in a heartbeat lol. I check daily to try and find them to put on my G5s.

  11. Saw these on Reddit the other day and figured I'd give them a go, so I placed an order this morning. Anyone else looked into or started using these yet? It's basically the buckles from a ski boot made to fit onto any goalie skate. I'd tried Halo Hockey straps previously and liked them, except for maybe not being able to get them quite as tight as I'd like but I'm hoping this will be an improvement on that.

It's really hard to compare goalies as you guys must know from playing the position, there's also the fact that it's a team sport and there's a lot of puck luck that goes into it as well. Just look at Game 2, I think that was the easiest SCF shutout that I've ever seen that makes Kuemper look good on paper, but anyone who's seen the game will tell you that Tampa had nothing going that night.

This is also how I like to segue into the fact that I believe that Brodeur was a good goalie, but not a great one.

    Oh boy, them's fightin' words.

Teams of all levels have been pulling shit like this for yeeeeaaaars. Anything to get a slight bit of edge.

I remember the most creative one I remember growing up was the time the opposing team let Japanese Taiko drummers practice at a room that shared a wall with our locker, coincidentally when we were getting ready. Our ears were ringing by the time we got on the ice.

The best ones I've probably heard are from the Danbury Trashers. If you haven't watched Untold: Crimes and Penalties on Netflix, definitely check it out.
