Hi I was wondering if someone here knows the circumstances and can tell  me why Patrick Roy quit the Canadiens during that game on Dec 2, 1995.

I feel kind of dumb to ask why but I really don't know.  I was doing other things in life during the 90's and not playing or really following hockey.

I always wondered, was it because the defense sucked? 😂

    Thanks in advance.

  2. If you want to stick with something along the lines of Eflex from when it was by Lefevre, you should probably move over to True. If you want really hot rebounds, my understanding would be that Bauer would be a good option.

If you happen to be selling the Eflex 5s, what size and colour scheme are they?

How do you like the JRZs? I've looked at those to replace my GT2s when the time comes.

I don't have anything bad to say about them. I didn't really have any qualms about the quality of the numerous Warrior sets I've had in the past few years, but when comparing with the JRZ stuff, the JRZ feels a little better made. Something about Warrior blockers always felt a little off to me however I adjusted to it, but the JRZ is really good. The catcher, 60 degree break, feels fantastic in my hand. The pads slide well, rebounds are pretty hot, haven't had much of any rotation issues after dialing in the straps. I wouldn't say they excel in any one area but overall they're great and I wouldn't hesitate to get another set.

I assumed you kept them lol.

Though if buddy is getting another Warrior set, I can definitely understand why.

I'd have kept them if I was just going laterally to a different Warrior set without them, however, I'm using JRZ Fusions now.

Ha, nope sure didn't. I notice that the G6 slide plates that I had on them are not attached anymore.

Yeah I think the main reason is that I have a square jaw/rounder face and the chin sling put a lot of pressure on the side of my chin (mainly on two pressure spots), and I couldn't adjust anything to alleviate the pressure. Whereas the chin cup that I have spreads out the pressure on a wider surface, and I could adjust the length to perfect eh fit.

Not sure what brand of chin sling you've got, but I got the EcoProFoam from goalieparts.com and it has two hole options. One of them I found horribly uncomfortable, the other like a warm hug.

I tried a chin sling and it seemed ok until I got into a game with it.

That's been the single best mod I've done.

Results may vary on the sling. I have one in all my masks and couldn't fathom going back to a cup.

Also unfathomable to do in my opinion.

  8. Signed with a senior team, so I've got that going for me. But really I'm just injury insurance, and cleared being a carded player with the beer league I play in so as not to screw myself out of actually playing, because it's "technically" against the league's constitution to allow carded players.

Looking at how detailed the shapes are and sort of made to fit G6 I doubt there is a huge chance of making the Warrior plates to fit anything else in easy way.

From marketing viewpoint it is obvious that the plates won't fit other pads and Warrior has used some time to make sure the plates are shaped so that it is somewhat difficult to make them fit. This slideplate thing is something others don't offer. Yet.

I would imagine if the plate would encompass another knee wing well enough but not quite right, you could possibly heat it up and mold it a bit to your own liking.

@insertnamehere Here's the most clear and explaining picture of what I've made. A lot more complicated solution than @jerd31 with the edges bent in instead of straight sheet.

    DSC_0284.JPG.7e55b20125fc3afed313f6d05847b487.JPG

This plate is for Vaughn LT88 pads (and similar) which you can tell from the slight curve on one edge. The knee wing on those pads is attached to the pad through curved joint area.

Material is 2mm thick PE which I have in storage for all gear purposes anyway. It's thick enough to hold the shape properly and still very easy and quick to mold with heat gun. Even 1mm would work but I'm not really confident to try it and then again I don't really have a reason as the 2mm is doing fine. I've made one set from 3mm thick sheet but that was a nightmare to mold compared to 2mm thick.

Polycarbonate (PC) is the next thing I'll try out as I have some available at work to make sample pieces. This is more of test between materials as in all videos the Warrior plates are sliding like butter on a hot pan and my PE made plates slide easy but not really effortless.

Here's a picture of my G5 implementation. A more complicated desing than Warriors and covering the whole knee wing and not just the knee stack.

This is after a few ice times when I sent the pads to Kova Repairs for the core change. While the plates don't really have space to move around they still have the knee wing drawn into them.

    DSC_0736_8x6.jpg.a550275ae2c5781a47a513b6923fd237.jpg

I like to use the lace as an attachment, it's easy to drill four holes on proper spots and then route the lace through the knee stack. Doesn't have to be tight but just enough that the plate stays on the right place.

Why I like the edges turned in atleast a few mm? It makes the plate just that much more rigid while it doesn't have much of an effect except holding the plate better on place. And it propably prevents the plate edges from catching any roughness on the ice. I really don't know if that would ever be an issue though.

Some videos of my butterfly slides where I have PE plates on (GT pads but similar knee wing cover). Nothing to compare those to though but you get the idea of slide. Looking at these now makes me wonder even more that the PC might be sliding a lot more than PE.

Thanks. I ordered that polycarbonate sheet that I linked earlier and I'm going to attempt to make it like your G5 plates with using the lace and the turned up edges.

Can't help but thinking I had a bisnes idea worth of a few bucks on my hands when I first made my PE sliders about three years ago. Should've just invited it a bit more to make it as universal as possible and sell them to every second goalie out there.

But then again remembering that whenever I've shown my plates and telling how nice it is to slide around effortlessly nobody wasn't interested. Before now that Warrior has these out.

Yet following these conversations in many places there's a lot of people who don't believe in the idea at all and try to take it down with "you'll slide over" or "how can you stop" or "you don't need to slide that much" or the classic "don't skip the leg day and you don't need these"...

The basic thing why anything innovative or new is so hard to bring into the business is that many of us are so sceptical as long as nobody (good enough) tries and proofs it to be good. Konekt is similar example, remember the first comments? And still there are comments like why are so many people selling them after a few ice times, there has to be something wrong with them.

Get them plates to try them out at least, I think they are kind of game changers at least from jenpro. I can't compare to Bauer as haven't tried them, Vaughn has good slide on their Quick slide material (same as Brians' Primo) but I would still wrap the knee block with plastic sheet on them too because of the stabile sliding from beginning to end that @CJ Boiss mentioned. Actually I've found the slide to be best when you shuffle your crease in the beginning to have a little snow to start from. Snow on crease is a constant thing after that and no surprises on the slide.

How'd you make yours? I sold my Warriors and wouldn't mind having slide plates on my JRZs.

Thanks a lot for the input, I was thinking about moving to a 33 but with your input I may have to move down to a 32. Makes sense if I’m moving down from a Bauer S to a M.

I may have to try on my swagger 31+1

just recalled that I've also used a 33+1.5 Warrior back when I had G3s, and there is a negligible difference between that and a 32+2 G5.

  13. My measurements are pretty similar to yours and I've been comfortable in both a 32+2 and 32+1.5 Warrior.

I've tried a small Bauer Vapor 2x Pro and the fit was fine as well, but I didn't love the pad.

Currently I'm wearing a JRZ Fusion in 32+1.5 which play a bit taller than the Warriors but are working out.

In a Brian's pad, I've tried Opt1k in a 33+1 (too tall all around), Optik 2 in a 32+2 (good in the knee, too tall in the thigh), Gnetik 3 in a 33+2 (once again too big).

Don't know how much this will help your search, but that's my experience.

Could you do me a kindness and take measurements for me and pics?

I wonder if they would sell one JR size, or maybe they don't come with the JR size pads.

    Here you go.

It says SR & INT, is it one size for both? I'm actually looking for a JR size for my kid (if they fit on the Axis with some dremeling).

Yep, on the packaging it is one size for both SR and INT.

I got these on the ice yesterday and they slide amazingly.

  17. As per the title, I'm putting my G5 set up for sale.

They were like new when I got them, only used a handful of times by the original owner and subsequently for 12 months by myself and still in good condition.

Single break below the knee, stock everywhere else. Pro laces for the toe, I probably have the Warrior toe straps somewhere. I literally just added the G6 slide plates which were fantastic when I got to use them. The left leg pad has a hole worn at the bottom of the leg channel from when I was trying out halo hockey straps on my skates.

60 degree palm, closure is fantastic.

The blocker is a blocker. It works.

Asking $900 USD/$1200 CAD plus shipping from Manitoba.

Weird I always had to opposite experience. Hated G4 but loved G5 and G3. Maybe it was something as simple as the foam in my G4 was glued wrong. G6 and G6.1 definitely felt different than G5 in the store

I can attest to the same experience between G3/4/5, although I wouldn't say I hated the G4, it was my least favorite feel of the 3.
