Nice reviews
I’m curious to know how accurate the size chart was for you ?
for G6 and futur G7 the size chart tell me I’m supposed to be in 35+ 1.5 with my ftk.. I don’t understand how since every pads with flat boot im at 33 atm. Previous boot 34

For me this glove release is stupid
Offer those option with your 2 collection you already have.
they make a different graphic so if you want it with a optik or iconik line you have to pay extra fee for the custom design

Hey guys
wondering if any of you had experience with broken thumb ? I had a cast for 4 week. They remove it last week and give me some exercise to do but it’s still impossible to put my glove on
I start to go crazy to not go at the rink.
if you had this experience after how much time you was able to go back ?

Beautiful set. From personal experience, you can play with a broken thumb! It does suck to do so though.
I cannot they fix it and my hand cannot go inside the glove

I was referring to iconik. I agree I love the gnetik iv but iconik feels different than both gnetik iv or v.
I will go see in store tommorow..
i ordered a iconik set and I want to be sure then

For those worried about the shape of the iconik pads. It's not as bad as I thought. They're also much lighter than Gnetik V and didn't notice the precurve walking around. They have some torsional flex that helps too
As for the glove, not a huge fan. Feels a little like a 580 and the finger seal is terrible. Not a fan of the new shape. I'm sure it funnels better but if I ordered a set I'd order a gnetik 4 or 5 glove.
Blocker is still a little sloppy and needs that extra backhand "anderson" padding like @TheGoalNet ordered.
The glove isn't a deal breaker by any means and it's probably the only full set available right now that I'd be comfortable using right off the shelf (besides G6).
No this is not my set just one that I tried on in store
I don’t understand why you say the glove seem to be a 580..
it’s glove exactly like my gnetik IV

Neither Brian's glove are exactly like the numeric breaks. The GNetik/Iconik is a 35 degree/55 degree. Closest to that is probably the Vaughn V10 Pro Carbon stock glove, which I think is a 5500 continuation (please correct me on this). The Optik glove is a 45 degree (per Brian's) and feels pretty close to a 600 break. Most NHL guys wearing Brian's are in the Optik glove, I think it's only Raanta using the Iconik.
Iconik is more a 600 glove
optik 590
i only play with Brian’s glove it’s my favorite glove and when I try friend glove is what I can compare them

Really good post
I’m about to order vaughn V10 vintage at the release December 15
It’s hard to find some Vaughn gear here in Montreal.
How you compare size with true and Vaughn ? similar ?

I also hadn't heard they were killing off Gnetik. Does anyone have a link/source for that?
Also, it's not like you can't customize Brian's stuff 75 ways from Sunday, so I'm sure you could even dial in an Optik the way you like if you absolutely had to.
My source is my friend. he is a sale director in a big hockey shop in montreal area.
He tell the pads gonna be the same no big change. Only a new name. Probably for a marketing perspective

The gnetik line don’t exist anymore
new name incoming

Alright, so let me give you a little background here. I'm 5'10, 160lbs with a 32-33 size waist (I'm about 6'2 on skates if that even matters, I don't think it does but, wanted to mention it in case) and I have noticed a certain level of restriction in my senior medium Bauer goalie pants used with my 34+1 Bauer M5Pros (I know it's not the pads because the thigh rise sits perfectly on my legs and my knees land directly on the knee block). To describe the restriction further I mean when I get up from the VH, RVH and sometimes even the butterfly where my pads get caught under the pant leg. It has certainly got better over time as I have gotten used to them but I'm beginning to wonder if I've developed some kind of tolerance for this or if its completely normal for this to happen.
Sorry if I'm a little long-winded here, this led me to the question, would I be able to wear a size small (meaning switching from a size medium to a size small) without sacrificing too much protection? If anyone could help me decide if this is a good idea, it would be greatly appreciated.
For a exemple you could play with a medium goalie pant. If you feel you lost protection most of goalie pant on market offer a 1inch extension.
Bauer and ccm offer that

It sounds like both your pants and pads are too big. I don’t even fit in 34s and I’m 5’11”
I thing you have short leg. I’m 6ft and have ftk 20.5 and it’s seem pretty normal. My 3 other friend has the same ftk

Practice environment or games?
I catch all my bruises in practice environments where guys are just ripping shots off line rush
During games shots don’t come as hard as they don’t have as much time to set up
At 38 year and my friend around 30 we don’t have much practice time
you maybe right on this point ! Practice time guys have ton of time to prepare his strongest shot

I had a Vapor with beefed up Mach arms in a camp environment last summer and was catching bruises through the arms from BCHL guys (let alone major Junior and pro) - however it was insanely mobile and was pretty good at deadening shots to the chest. Despite really wanting to make it work I fell back to my CCM AB18Pro.
if I can’t find another one to replace it with I may go with a pro beef V5 or the new Brian’s chest@ZeroGravitas has a Passau and either likes it a lot or is too stubborn to admit he’s wrong
i never understand how people get bruise with some chesty. I have a hyperlite with beefed ultrasonic chest i play sometime with my friend who as play junior AAA or LHJMQ and i never felt anything. My friend play senior aaa caliber with his retail ultrasonic chest and for him it's the best chest he never have
probably no one react the same when the puck hit you

I have a 580 glove and the Xp Vaughn glove don’t feel like a 580 ! It’s not a thumb closure at all
