Custom set just came in yesterday, order put in with True on April 4 estimated 6-8 weeks, shipped out on May 5 ahead of schedule.
Which retailer did you order your set through? My order went in on March 28th but I don't think Pure had guaranteed production slots like some places did.

What sizes did you buy?
The chest is medium. Pants were advertised as large but I’m not sure about that. They have less room than the pair of large hpg12a CCM pants I have. I can still tuck but it’s tight. I’d have to get ahold of Vaughn to get the actual specs on them.

Well done on red straps and clips, too. I have black straps with red clips.
I don't remember if you wear a dangler but your bucket is SCREAMING for a dangler with red laces.....to me anyway
Hahaha! I bought a pair of red skate laces just so I could put one on my navy pants and one to attach the dangler. Things are going to get really matchy matchy once my new pads come in lol.

Damn, drool. F'n nice! I deliberated so hard getting my cage and hardware painted but decided not to.
This looks so good. Congrats.
I was back and fourth on if I was actually going to go all out and get a paint job or even a wrap on this mask but decided to go this route for a nice clean look since I didn't have any good ideas on what I would actually get painted lol. I'm really interested to see how all the matte paint holds up to pucks.

I recently caught the bug to start collecting them again. Pretty much all JDM stuff. But as with everything lately it seems like the supply chain has hit all my local stores are they have been tough to come by since before Xmas.

A goalie I skate with put his order in with True through Pure Hockey, was quoted 8-10 weeks
That was the same that I was told today when I put my order in with them.

Just got my order in on a set of 20.2s with Pure Goalie. Hopefully the 8 week time frame is accurate but even if it takes a bit longer I still think it'll be quicker than anyone else right now.

Goalie monkey has a good deal on the optik 2 chest pad if you are a small or large. I used a clearance coupon code. They sent it out, so I’ll update this if they bait and switch it on me. Ended up getting quite a bit off!
Just smalls left now. I would have to think that is a mistake since they have the optik 2 listed for less than the optik. That along with a new release being on clearance is against MAP so Brian's might not be happy about this. Let us know if they actually honor it and ship it.

not gonna lie, the 1x was one of the worst chestys I have ever worn. Protection is good it's just the arms literally never break in
I have to second this as well. I was tempted to grab another one when these first dropped in price since my original was a pro return so I wanted to see if there might be a difference but I couldn't bring myself to do it.
Though I have seen plenty of good reviews on it so hopefully it works out for you bunny as I really wanted mine to work.

The images on the Axis chest protector look interesting. The belly segmentation looks very different. Not a fan of the massive looking shoulder floaters though.

Haven't seen any recent new spec pro-returns up for grabs on the web, like the one TGN got his paws on. Am I looking in the right places?
I've been looking high and low for the last few months and have come up empty as well. Not sure what the deal is on them.

Found a Velocity V7 XR Pro Carbon c/a in excellent condition fot $200. Waiting for reply. Looks clean in pics.
Just make sure to ask about the smell. The last used chesty I bought looked great in pics and smelled like someone died in it. Last time I buy one of those used.

@Aquilzz after using my pads a few more times and messing with the strapping I’ve got them pretty well dialed in. I had to put the quick motion just snug enough that it didn’t feel like it was moving and then do the knee to calf strap a bit tighter than I was. Now I don’t have much of an issue. It’s still not as comfortable as the RRC was but I barely even notice it.
-
@TheGoalNet so I was going to mention something about the quick motion when I did my review but since you brought it up. I really really really wish they would’ve mounted it like two inches higher. After coming from a true RRC strap that hits directly behind the knee and kinda contours to the top of the calf I feel the quick motion hits too much across the back of my calf. I’m sure I’ll get used to it but I thought the Vaughn strap was more comfortable. Otherwise I think the strapping is great and I really like the materials they added to prevent premature wear in spots that could catch on the Velcro.

That's my assessment too. I have tried to note that in any reviews or deep dives I have done. Speed Skin is good on fresh ice. The worse the ice, the less it works. If you play at a level with Zams between periods, you will like speed skin. If you play beer league, there's a major difference between Opti-Slide and Speed Skin come period 3.
With that said, some of that might be luck. Other than Warrior, I haven't noticed any brand tout their pads as working well on pad ice. It's probably an after thought. They test a material on clean ice, get good results, and then move forward with it.
Yeah it's not like they slide poorly or anything. It's just a noticeable difference from clean ice to slushy ice. At least with the way CCM pads play they stay stable and flat to the surface even when the ice is poor. I was having a ton of issues with my Vaughn's getting stuck and twisting late in games which was really getting on my nerves.

2) Speedskin kind of sucks when the ice isn't under perfect conditions. In summer, the ice is quite soft here, and I find that Speedskin is pretty much the same as regular jenpro, maybe a little worse as it sticks to the ice. Optislide is fantastic and functions just as well on any surface and doesn't get noticeably worse when there's a ton of snow buildup. As we all know, in beer league, there's about a 95% chance someone is wide open back door or in the slot, so getting there quicker with optislide makes a huge difference.
I have to agree with this 100%. The Speedskin feels great when getting on the ice after a zam and does seem to slide a bit better than normal material but the second it starts to slush up it's back to just like normal jenpro. And like you said there were a couple times when I hadn't cleared the snow well enough that it felt like I was sticking to the ice.

@seagoal two weeks from now, Warrior is behind on their orders.
Also, anyone see anything wrong with this picture? Especially with the caption? Explain yourself @TheGoalNet
Well he seems to like flavored water so the Coors does make sense.
-
@seagoal yeah I just really wanted to do something different. I knew I wanted a black base and the rest was just me messing with different color combos until I found something I liked.

@wox33 Why the binding on the blocker face??? Set came out great!
Just for the look. Never been a huge fan of bindingless anything to be honest.

Nice. They just emailed me today saying that my set should be shipping out to me this week as they are just waiting on it to get to their warehouse.
