  1. Just to clarify, these situations in discussion here are on the ice, so these are stick saves on the blocker side, not blocker saves. I have a video clip of an example I want to pull from my game this past Tuesday. I can grab it this evening after work and I'll post it.
  2. Thank you both. What you're saying makes perfect sense. I think for me this is one of those situations where a save selection is locked and loaded in my mind and body and then once the shot develops it requires and pivot to adjust to the situation. I end up taking these as though they have some heat on them but then this save selection is no longer effective and I get trapped left of center and, yes @coopaloop1234, reaching is a great word. Reaching for a puck too far too my right and too far in front of me. I definitely have no problems with slower shots on my left, glove-side, or dead center. These can be covered easily. Just gotta work on these stick-side shots and not trapping myself. Not having this problem on my Div. 4 team, just mostly in my lower 40+ league.
  3. One thing I have been burned on a few times lately is on slower stick-side shots, low on the ice, that end up just slightly being pushed out in front of me, right of center, for a rebound to be pounced on, forcing me to make a reactive second save. Kinda from this position which a pic grab from this video starting at the 5:10 mark with the stick-side shots Taking these like in the video is easy enough and I have zero problems with these when the shots have enough speed on them to actually direct them and deflect them away. Where I struggle is when the shots, for whatever reason, are slow enough to where they just either softly deflect maybe a foot or two away from me, or, just kinda die on my blade . In either case, I am not in a good position to cover easily and I am forced to fight to get into position for a blocking save or fight to make a reactive save on a second shot that someone pounces on. So I starte telling myself in my pre-game self-talk "no lazy stick-side rebounds, cover aggressively or push it aggressively." What do you guys think is the best option on these? -be better at taking these slower shots more centered and symmetrically and not off to my stick-side right? -be more aggressive at recovering and trying to get my glove on the puck? -be more aggressive at recovering with a poke/push with my stick ?
  4. My buddy apparently does Jedi Google searches
  5. #56 Found this randomly at the rink last night. At first I saw this which is common and I was all "please don't be Kraken please don't be Kraken " and then discovered this beauty Definitely the cutest puck in the collection. I wonder who signed it? Really happy about this one.
  6. I'd bet money on that. That'd be a fun thread: speculation on which NHL goalies are gear nerds or not.
  7. Haha. Well, it will be a challenge to not talk about goalie stuff. I don't know anything about horses, which is his thing. We did both move from Denver to Seattle, that might be my in. He does have nice hair, but prolly won't bring that up. My buddy told me "Phil" got ahold of him yesterday and told him to bring his kid down to the glass for warmies last night so he can throw him a puck, which he did, of course. So now, I need to figure out how to break-in to my buddy's house Mission Impossible style, steal that puck, and replace it with a decoy. I know where he lives.
  8. Yeah, I've been a fan of every SLR graphic and how the color zones can be used. This design in blue reminds me of something I can't quite name.....maybe chicken feet? Aquatic dinosaur feet?? Not in a bad way though, LOL.
  9. I'm liking that SLR graphic. Looks good for a mostly white use of a single color.
  10. So one of my teammates' wife is good friends with Grubauer's wife. She's apparently hanging out with them at their house. My buddy hasn't been there yet, but they are apparently double dating soon. Pretty good chance I might get to meet him one day, which will be pretty cool. I've never met a pro hockey player before in a real life setting, much less a goalie. I have met a few in professional meet-n-greet settings before, though. Carter Hart is the one goalie I've met.
  11. Quick little adjustment to this mod. In my game Wednesday I had to scramble before the game to help my buddy get our roster to the scorekeeper and had to grab my phone. I didn't get my glove back on properly and the added red thumb pillow got pushed out from beneath the straps and it all became loose and stock-like again. So I needed a way to lock the thumb pillow in place to preven this from happening again and thankully there was already the velcro strip sewed onto it. So, I took the stock toe ties from my pads, made a quick snip, and just stuck it on over the strap, locking it in place. As an aesthetic bonus, it now says Bauer on the mod so it looks relatively legit. Nice little bonus to the eye.
  12. Ha, sorry. I was having some log in/refresh issues. My pic is better anyway cuz I cropped it, so take that.
  13. Sort of appropriate to post here. Found these on Instagram I'm drooling
  14. Oh man, that's a really good one. Thank you @johncho, very kind and thoughtful. I'll send you a message soon.
  15. Yeah, I looked him up. I only saw paintings, nothing related to goalie helmets other than an Instagram story.
  16. My buddy put it well this morning looking at Driedger's new helmet: they look better when it's one big thing as opposed to many little things. In other words, simple looks better than complex.
  17. The gloves do not match the pads and the C around Bauer on the knees looks very strange.
  18. Driedger's new bucket. Painted by a fine art artist, not a typical helmet airbrush artist. I'm really digging the design and colors. It looks really good with how zoomed-in the perspective is making all the elements look larger than they should be. It's a cool effect.
  19. Sorry buddy, no good news to report .
  20. @keeperton what was the name of your tournament team again? Winthrop lineups got posted today .
  21. Yup. I play on the Silvertips ice tonight.
  22. LOL, I know. Don't feel bad. I was playing into the joke.
