  1. @Tim_TRUEHockey when can we expect a true ( no reference to your new company name) goalie runner holder for your 2 piece cowlingless skates. Right know you are using a holder that was created for player skates!

I understand the economies of using one holder for all your skates but I have a hard time with the look of the 2 piece skate also if am not mistaken a player skate is also higher than a goalie skate?

Has True budgeted any dough for this are there any plans??

Not to hi-jack the thread... but there's some good foam options out there now.  These are from Coveted Mask, black is Neoprene foam and the green is their "Dual Density" foam

Hijack all you want - if you have good material to share with us!

Nice looking masks by the way.

I'd love to go with another mask maker (especially custom) but I can't stand traditional mask foam. I've tried Maltese and didn't like that either (aside from the chin sling). So, I'm stuck with Bauer NME. *shrug*

FYI the Protechsport masks come with a black foam - very subtle and confortable. I however thought it probably was too soft and changed out my sons mask into a Maltese slightly denser material but a lot better than the beige stuff Bauer had in their 961 models which was like cement.

If my son changes mask it will be another Protechsport with a hybrid Maltese/Protechsport foam - Maltese against the mask and Michelle's black foam against his nogen

  4. So I picked up my sons helmet at Griffe on Saturday following it annual facelift, and in talking to Stephane about helmets he told me that the CCM  NHL (real pro) is the lightest mask he has ever seen. He did not have one on hand for me to weigh vs my sons Protecsport 100% Kevlar but he did have a replacement grill. 100% titanium thick diameter tubing not like the Bauer grill that was recalled a year or two ago - WOW it weighed nothing absolutely incredible. Approx $300 a grill the mask if you can your hands on one is $1500 made in Montreal not sure where and by whom but not what you get at the retail level!

would be interesting to hear from some who has seen the real mackoy in its entirety, unfortunately none being painted while I was there.

Wow absolutely gorgeous- less is more category!!!

Man they are out all guns blazing - none of the other Mfg's are even coming close, I hope we see a lot of Brians in the NHL this year!

There is a call scheduled with Brian's today.

New primo colors is something I can ask about.

    Anything else?

TGN when are going to get the skinny on your call with Brians?

Yeah find out if the Boa strapping system will be available across the board on all their glove models?

Plus if the league is really sticky on this issue, get some Bauer stickers for the Protechsport 960 clone and nobody will be the wiser. Even without them most wouldn't bat an eyelash.

As I've mentioned before, the last CHL goalie to use a Protechsport was forced to switch to a Bauer 960, but went back to a Protechsport (Lefebvre design, not the 960 clone) with Bauer logos and wore it for the rest of the season, seemingly without a problem. In the end, really only die hard goalie gear guys will even know the difference between a Protechsport, a Bauer 960 and a Warwick (three 'completely' different mask designs).

Doobie - Titan is right that is what I did for my sons Protecsport, don't be fooled by what crap that is being marketed by CCM/Bauer! Not sure about many other options out there but I can tell you one thing, you can't play around with your head!

  9. Well after one outing and the keeps33 technique the glove is nearly game ready - my son was on the ice yesterday as well but I did not have the chance to tape the glove shut as I typically do when their new (my old break in process) but I will do the keeps 33 technique again and let it dry taped shut!

Glove should be game ready after that - I will try and post a short video by the weekend!

Highly recommend this technique to all.

TitanG originally posted the Wardo picture. Brian's is throwing down the best looking gear so far this season!

Well more goalie porn from Brians - very nice!

    Look sharp.

Do he or you have Instagram? I will post these

TGN I do not but thanks for the offer!

  12. So as I said on the Brians section I looked up the best way to break in. A new goalie glove - most if not all reference a hot water technique! Would you all recommended this technique or do you have any other ideas?

I just taped shit my sons glove following his first outing - will open it back up on Sat and will probably try this technique!

  13. So first practice for my son with his new kit - - 2 hour practice divided in 3 sections power skating/technical stuff/high intensity shooting from numerous sections within your zone!

He told me that the pads wher slightly stiff at the beginning but that they quickly softened up at the boot and he was very excited at the end of the 2 hours how they performed. Blocker - confortable liked it blah blah blah it's a blocker, he did take a shot to one of his fingers but as I told him after it was related to poor technique on that shot nothing to do with the blocker!

Finally the glove - here we are dealing with a glove that has a pro palm so it's still a bit stiff to close but tomorrow I will look up break in techniques to help in its break in!

My son is extatic about his kit - very wise purchase!

  14. So my sons kit arrived yesterday he will be trying them tomorrow for the first time! Will provide some initial feedback and will try to follow up with a more extended report in a few weeks.

For you gents that have had their masks painted, what did you typically pay to have the painted?

im reburshing an old mask and looking at options.

    Cheers,

Pricing will vary on the complexity of the paint job - cost me $650 each of my sons 2 paint jobs

Looney tunes inspired mask. The background looks black but it's actually a type of chameleon pearl that flips about 6 different colours. The only caveat was it had to have Sylvester the Cats' nose over the 'i' in his name. Gotta love kids :)

    Very nice!
