  1. If the orange/ blue graphics above are an option I don’t see any issues with the graphics.

At the end of the day if the pads are better than the Premiers ( Which my son wears ) I wouldn’t have a problem considering these. Quality should be the same as the current CCM pads .  What about the Eflex pads - will they be changed if the Lefebvre relationship is over ?

On the chip: this is something that proves that this material is too brittle for the job the designer and fabricator is expecting it to perform. Carbon is very strong but brittle. When I was building bike frames, areas that could have impact were skinned with kevlar and fibreglass. Whilst oddly enough, I will go out on a limb and say you’re safe with that chunk gone, you had better not lose much more than that. There could be a stress crack somewhere around that chunk.

Not trying to scare you, but that looks more than slightly concerning @Jonathon v

Well put Bunnyman - would Kevlar provide the same rigidity as Carbonfiber ?

I should know in a week or so, I just decided to order one already. My Farrell one is probably around 10 years old and really needs replacing.

Do we have any feedback on this padded shirt from Vaughn yet ?

FYI - CCM has a new version of their padded shirt which looks pretty good I will post a picture this weekend

I believe the CCM Total Custom skates are made in Quebec. This is the closest to what True offers. There are lots of custom options here, for players at least. Not sure on goalie.

The CCM 3D Custom Molded Skates are basic retail skates, but CCM creates a 3D last of your feet based on the 3D scan, puts that mold/last into the skate and use high temperature/high pressure machinery to mold the boot to your 3D foot mold. AFAIK, no custom options exist here, except for a number on the tongue. Skates are built wherever CCM retail skates are built (overseas).

Both Bauer and CCM make custom 3D scanned goalie skates in Quebec - considered both options before pulling the trigger on True/VH for my son!

Disappointing news for one of the most premium products on the market, but glad to hear you are being supported! Issues happen, correcting them is key.

So after the initial issues and subsequent repair we got my son’s True 2 piece skates earlier this week. Today he was able to skate in them -  he spent about 2.5 hours skating and acting as a shooter at a goalie school he attends.

So the first thing - skates are extremely comfortable, just as an FYI his Bauer Reactor 9000 he had for about 2 years and he found that his True skates where already more comfortable!

Initially he had a hard time with shuffles, It got better as the time on went on - will ask him how his week goes with his team practices go this week. Might have to reduce the current cut selection.

He has two weeks of no games and a practice with his coach - look forward to getting some feedback later on this week and seeing him on the ice next weekend!

So my son got his True skates yesterday - what a complete disappointment, as he was waiting for the skates to mold  and subsequently cool off he noticed that the section on the inside top section at the back of the foot was unglued!

HOWEVER that was nothing to what was coming - when he pulled out his feet both sections at the back of the skate where the littlre bump is to  help keep the heel in place where torn?

i am being told that the True rep saw these today and a solution will be provided within a day or two.  Does anyone use these skates with Clorino liner my local store is telling me that's only available to pros.?

So GOOD NEWS - True are shipping the skates back to be repaired we should have them back by Wednesday of next week!

Quick service - will wait and see regarding the repair hopefully this will the last issue I have with the skates

Finally made the switch to Pro Laces Armor on my RGT Pro pads.  Used them for the first time last night and am beyond impressed.

I installed mine as an offset toe and really noticed a huge difference in the attack angle on my slides/pushes.  The stock ARS straps I was using were great (a little tight and less forgiving at times) but I'm now a Pro Laces customer for life.  By far the premier option for the toe strap market.

Cawarmar does this new model of laces still have the protruding bolt on the inside that rubs on the skate toe cap?

I am looking at pimping up the toe tie on my son's CCM Premiers that he should be getting soon!

The issue with the bolts was my only concern when I got this system 2 years ago.

Any suggestions on where to send it? I was trying to find direct replacement liners but bauer doesn’t seem to sell them.

Dude - hook up with the Maltese group purchase and do it yourself, unless you have two left arms it's not that hard to do. All you need is a bit of patience I would start by putting your helmet on and checking to see if you have any loose spaces and figure out the thickness of foam required to make sure the mask is snug all over.

If I'm not mistaken Bauer doesn't make their padding available - which is a pitty the foam on their latest 961 looks amazing.

Good luck with this issue !

Hey @Doobiesnax, any update on how this is holding up?   I'm debating between a DIY partial wrap from Outer Layer Skins and looking into hydrodipping.

Doobie - where did you get your hydrodipping done?

Very nice looking job - will it stand up to shots to the mask or you have to get a clear coat?

look forward to seeing the final product!

  12. The CCM pro mask (NHL Pro ) is not an off the shelf unit it is made I believe by Bombardier in Montreal and the thing is light as a feather..

i would consider getting one for my son (you need to know people to get one) but 1) not sure I can get a a CSA approved cage 2) it cost about $1500 without a paint job?

i think a 961 clone from Michel is more likely to be his next mask, will depend on his grades at school!
