It’s terrible… buddy at work and fellow Habs fan was saying that we (the Habs) wasted a generational goaltending talent. I’m inclined to agree. I mean, imagine if he had spent his career in Tampa or something. Ugh.

Yea I know that feeling all too well.  You guys wasted Price way more than we wasted Hank though.

Fawk, dude! I remember a while back you saying about preferred mixed drinks or something (Moscow mules was it…?) So are the suds just not agreeing with you anymore? Health concerns? Just don’t enjoy it…?

Anyway, now that buddy down the street from you has been repaid, send all the rest up to me!

I just haven't really been drinking much.  When I do, my brother in law got me hooked on mixing red wine with Dr Pepper.  Sounds weird, I know, but try it.  Delicious and it hits quick lol.

It took a long time. So long, I wondered if it would ever even happen. But finally, last night, I got my first career shut out. And it was in a playoff game too, and in front of my wife and kids who came to cheer me on - and even made signs. I ended up with the game puck, as the ref wanted the kids to have it (but they were told by Mommy that they should give it to daddy to keep!) My wife also got a great shot of me at the end, under the scoreboard after the final whistle.

I’ve had games where I know I’ve played better, and made more and better saves, but I’ll still take it!

Fuck, it feels good to finally pop that cherry!

Now back to my regularly scheduled Friday beer 😁

(Boy, I hope you’re at work when you see this, @SaveByRichter35 - lol!)

As a matter of fact I am at work.  I haven't had a beer in mooooooonths.  Wanna hear some real torture?  My best friend was up in Massachusetts over the weekend, took his family to Great Wolf Lodge or whichever one of those family fun resorts they went to.  Calahari?  Idk.  Anyway, while they were up there he went to one of the Treehouse Breweries.  I had him buy me a mixed 24 pack.  I gave them all to my buddy down the block that always hooks me up with Tree House.  He's gotten me so much, I had to pay him back while I could.

  5. Total shot in the dark, but does anyone have any old Labeda Predator chassis laying around that they don't use?  I put my Predators on my new Graf boots without the cowling they are way too big for these boots.  They're a 10.75 chassis, came off of size 9 Bauers with cowlings.  Now on size 8 Grafs without cowlings, they're like skis lol.

I found a set of size 9.3 chassis on sidelineswap last year which would've been the perfect size but the kid was a total douche.  Wanted over $200 for a used set.  They didn't even go for that when new.

  6. So I got my almost 5 year old son his first pair of inline skates.  I never play roller anymore but my skates have top of the line indoor wheels that I don't wanna ruin by using on the street.  Aside from going to my local Pure Hockey, what websites are good for cheap wheels?  All I can think of is Inline Warehouse and their prices are same as Pure Hockey.  I'd rather just go to the store and save on shipping costs.

I had a cat pee on my blocker once while in the garage. Didn't notice it until I started playing a game and got the glove hot and sweaty. It was misery.

It took a lot of washing, baking soda, dehumidifier, cursing, etc. to get that blocker to not stink.

Godspeed Scythe with your mask crusade.

    "I don't get shutouts."

None of us do with any regularity - that's why we're playing beer league behind suspect defense that is more concerned with lighting up the scoreboard and winning 7-6 rather than just waiting to capitalize on the other teams mistakes and win 2-0 or 1-0. 🤣

Plus I don't know what your guys beer league teams look like but where I'm at its rarely built from the goalie out - meaning - rarely are your best skaters playing "D". All those guys want to go coast to coast Connor McDavid style, light the lamp and play forward. Frequently the "D" are shoehorned into it (and not so secretly all want to score too).

For the longest time my team was built with 1 actual dman.  Always had forwards "playing D."  I finally got some stout dmen to join the team and I ended up leaving for my other team.  🤷‍♂️

THIS happened this morning, it all ties in together, I will try to be brief

I changed the oil on my truck a couple weeks ago and usually put the used stuff back into the 5qt container but this time I couldn't find the 5qt container, so I bought 5 1qt containers. Instead of messing around with filling up the 5 1qt containers I left it in the big drip pan to take that over later and recycle. Well, the last time I played a game I emptied the bag to air the gear out and set my mask on top of an empty box which was next to that big drip pan with the oil in it. You see where this is going?

    fast forward to this morning

My wife needed a box to mail something, she looked at one then I noticed some in the back corner that looked better. When she got back there, I said watch out for the oil. Right after saying watch out for the oil, I hear "oh no!" I get back there and see her pulling my mask out of the drip pan, Thing got dunked in used 5w 30. It's not a high dollar mask (CCM GFL) but still. Couple of straps are stained now. It's drying out after using the blue Dawn dishwashing soap to clean it up. Will probably get a new harness which I was going to do anyway before, it's starting to fray a bit in a couple spots. 😣

    That suuuuuuuuuuucks

Any of you ever dealt with insurance for a flooded basement? I'll get to experience the joys of that shortly.

My little brother's house was surrounded by a brush fire down in Port Charlotte, Florida. He lost his shed and boat. Firefighters were able to protect his house. Said it ripped through pretty fast.

Not in HR, but I have a rule to entertain every headhunter/LinkedIn solicitation that comes through my email that is within my salary requirements.  Yes, I do waste a couple minutes of my time every week to find out I'm overqualified or the company underpays, but it forces me to keep my resume updated and my interview skills fresh.

IMO if your comp isn't growing annually by inflation for that year, you are losing money staying at your current job

Wow, the skate to shoe fit is really all over the place. I'll have to go to the Gardens Ice House in Laurel or Pure Hockey in Sterling just to size myself.

Always best to try on in store if/when possible prior to committing to buying anything online.

I hear ya. Knowing how fun it is to win it all and miss out sucks.

It's amazing how absent I am when I'm away from work lol.

I know that feeling.  The only time I am really active at all is when I am at work.  I pretty much never post from home.

Afraid of leaving your helmet by itself for more than two seconds? 😉

    Congrats buddy. Pads look great.

@SaveByRichter35 is it better for your team to win the championship without you? Or for them to fail miserably without you?

My petty ass says the latter.

I was happy they won, just sad I missed out on it.  We lost our first two as a team, one in some ungodly long shootout, and one in ot.  For them to get it with a fill in goalie, not even the other goalie on the team, irked me a little.  But I am glad for them that they got it.  I've won plenty with the Knights over the past few years.  This was a lot of these guys first time winning.

We have another championship game this Wednesday night but I am stuck at work.  Trying to get a shift swap or swap days off.  Not looking good though.  This is our 3rd straight in 3 seasons since becoming a team.  0-2 so far.

Lol.  I can't just take off for the game.  I mean, I could, I have the time.  I just can't afford to waste it on a beer league game.  I need it for everyday life and for travel games in case they pop up.

    They won without me

We won our championship last night, beating the first place team in our division 5-3 after beating them 2 rounds ago 4-2. They wooped our asses all season long so it was awesome to get these wins in the playoffs.

@SaveByRichter35 this entrance is for you, buddy.

We got a sweet trophy plaque with a Kraken puck in it and a legit beer mug...and there is a bar upstairs, how convenient.  Epic night of drinking and good times celebrating our 2nd season as a team.
