I will now publicly proclaim that I have been scored on by a player sitting on the bench ..........

The opposition needed a line change so their defenseman dumped the puck and headed for the bench. Our team decided to do the same. I saw an opportunity to catch them napping and whipped a pass up the left side to our lone forward.  It was going to be so beautiful.

One little mistake, I whiffed on the one timer and the puck dribbled by me.  Every once in a while I need to recall this moment. It is humbling.😳

It happens to the best of us.  And, the, worst.....of us?  lol

It’s weird to think that we kind of brush off the people we interact with on the internet cause we don’t really know them, and all of a sudden they’re gone. Of course there’s gonna be some douchebags out there but you never know what someone could be going through even if they’re positive.

Well said, friend.  This whole situation made me keenly aware of how much time I have spent over the years on this website and talking about goaltending and gear and hockey and life.  This time spent is a valuable part of my life and I am grateful for it and for everyone on here who contributes.

I came home from work yesterday and was thinking about this. How do you tell someone you're sad that 'someone you knew online' had passed away? The phrase is exactly correct, but it comes off to others differently.

There have been several people from GSBB and here that have passed away that I was sad about. Junior Cats (Mike) was one of them.

It's one of those things that unless you're part of a tight knit community like these, it's hard to understand.

Though because of how niche this group is, we get a better chance to know people on a deeper level and their passing is more impactful.

Wouldn't have it any other way. These types of group are more meaningful and, for myself at least, my involvement means more than any other media platform.

This is very true.  I recently met a few guys from a Rangers forum for the first time at a local bar for one of the 1st round games.  She found it very odd.  Said how I complain so much about my "actual" friends never getting together often enough, why waste time with new people you don't actually know?  My response was, well, I do know them.  I never said I didn't know them.  I said I never met them.  I talk to these guys every day.  Just as often as I talk to my "real" friends.  My "real friends" don't care to meet up for a beer and watch a game, these guys do, so we are.  She then found it odd that two guys from a lawn care facebook group came over the house to help me with my front yard project.  I told her I don't know what to say.  My "real friends" are content texting every day and seeing each other once a month.  My "fake friends", I guess?, want to get together.  Am I supposed to say no because I know them from the internet and not from elementary/middle school? lol.

Edit - Oh, plot twist, even though my wife and I went to high school together and had a lot of friends in common, we never actually crossed paths in school.  We met...wait for it...ONLINE DATING

  3. I've definitely flubbed a few passes over the years.  I have no recollection of ever letting in one of those Smith goals though.  I could also be mentally blocking the memory though lol.

At some point the Rangers will have to play a team that has their starting goalie…maybe. 😂

That is irrelevant.  The Rangers are notorious for making rookies, backups, and 3rd stringers look like all time greats lol.

  5. As quirky as he was, you just had to admire the "bloke" as he would say.  He found so many positives with so many negatives.  He tried so hard to create content and get conversation going, some more well received than others.  He really was a sweet man though.  Rest peacefully Doug.

PS Can I have back my old Richter pads that I sold you so many years ago?(I'm joking)  Unless of course, you performed your Bunny surgeries on those as well lol.

    This is so true.

My car was a 2014 Honda Accord Sport 6 speed sedan I had since new, tons of room, was able to get both daughters goalie bags in the trunk, pads and sticks in the back seat, and lots of room for the 3 of us.

Then 2 weeks ago coming back from older kids hockey we got rear ended at a pretty decent speed, car written off. Getting about $16k CDN, which is ok. Kids both have some whiplash injuries, which is not ok, but it could have been much worse if it had been a bigger vehicle that hit us instead of a RAV4.

But trying to replace it? Civics are now almost $40k CDN for the new manual one I can find in the area, and I can find one used Accord but it's $35k CDN. Mine was paid off, but guess I have to go back to a car payment. If I didn't want a manual again it would be a bit easier, but not any cheaper.

Our plan had ben to get rid of our F150 with the 6.2L since we don't tow anymore, but it's now sticking around for a bit, really don't want 2 payments.

Glad to hear the girls are ok.

My wife's 16 Subaru has worn out it's welcome. Nice having a paid off car to drive. But the continuous needs are getting old. Yesterday it decided to light up every warning lamp while driving. My wife loves that. So - time to go.

Checking the cash offer sites, gets her about $9k for it.

She wants to trade it in. I presume the best way to do this is to take a few cash offers in with you to give you a floor. Then let the dealership games begin!

When I come in with my laptop and have a payment calculator already up and running - the sales guys still try to ask me 'what do you want to pay per month' like it's some magic science.

We did interest calculators in 7th grade math bro.

The buyout on my wife's lease is $25k.  We were offered $33k for it.  The problem is we waited too long to do this.  There isn't much out there to buy in mid range trims.  Everything is base or maxed out.  And dealers are selling at 5-7k over sticker so the money we were offered for her vehicle is now moot.  We have a fully loaded vehicle right now and the market is pushing us to a bare bones base model and paying more for it.  It fucking sucks.  We're probably just going to buy out the lease and keep it.

Interesting. I would have thought that Mrs. Richter would be the more accurate type, considering how many women hate the smell of their men's goalie gear when it has not been cleaned. But it might be different if both he and she play in goal.

Grease is a solid when cold. So when people cook and the hot grease from the pan is poured down the drain - it will cool in the pipe with cold water. It grabs other debris and makes a sticky ball of goop.

Sewer lines aren't smooth inside. All the pipe joints and bends will cause areas where flow slows down. Add in hair, shampoo, soap and other goodies that make their way in and you get a problem brewing.

Keep repeating this process and the globs grow. Similar plaque in your arteries, when the grease globs break free, they will clog up at the next pinch point in the line.

    Test is on Friday.

Makes sense.  I always wipe all the shit out of my pans before I wash them in the sink but obviously some stuff sticks until actually washed.  My wife on the other hand...don't get me started...

Could be an arch/foot issue.  Have you tried aftermarket insoles?

I'm in custom orthotics now, but @SaveByRichter35's skate guy used to be EQM for NYI.  IIRC he told me most of his guys that weren't in a custom orthotic were in Superfeet.

This is the one you want, don't get the comfort.

I have no recollection of him saying that to me nor me telling you that.  Might have been someone else that told you that lol

  11. OK so to answer a few questions here from personal experience.  I've had several skates that have been riveted and re-riveted a few times over.  My current inline skates, Graf 7500s have had the original cowlings, removed those, drilled and riveted on CCM XSG holders, removed the XSG holders, drilled again to fit the current Labeda Predator chassis.  Still solid.  As it is, I am looking for a smaller sized chassis as the one that is on there is too big.  So that would be another drilling session that would be needed lol.  The bottom of these skates are looking like swiss cheese.

I've never skated with Tour Thor skates so I cannot comment on the flimsiness of the boot.  But, when I first started playing ice I was in some shitty Bauer Supreme 1000 boots that were flimsy as shit.  Then I moved up to the Bauer Supreme 7000 boot.  As I said I have never held a Tour boot in hand but it looks to have a carbon weave boot so I am sure you'll be fine.

  12. Dammit.  Yea those are the same size.  The problem is that size chassis works on that size 8 skate but it also has a cowling on it.  The chassis I have now were on a 9 boot with a cowling.  They're like skis on a size 8 boot without a cowling.  The tips of the chassis literally hang off the edges of the boot.  I'll add a picture to the original post so you can see lol

This guy was able to get it done somehow- just saw this video the other day on YT.

I had it done to my T5500, it was a custom request.  Look how much better that looks.  For the life of me I do not know why they continue to do that.  I get it in the olden days when goalies had their gloves down by their knees.  But no one does that anymore.  Evolve already.
