Both ccm and Bauer offer semi custom skates. Meaning they use pre formed shells that are distorted/padded appropriately for the print out of your foot scan.
True on the other hand is a fully customized skate. Meaning it is pieced together around the printout of your foot from the inside out.

Let us know what you think. I have the last gen of these pants and I’m enjoying them. Do you tuck or no?
After coming from ccm pro stock I will say the inner thigh 5hole padding is much thicker and takes some getting use to, definitely hindered 5 hole closer more than normal. I do not tuck, but I did take out the internal belt for a little extra room on the inside. But all in all the padding and protection seem solid.

Retails will get stock shortly for a "soft release" before it's released on the web.

So when is this baby gonna drop on the shelves?
Stores will typically get the stuff a month or so early for a "soft release" before they are listed on social media or website sales. April/May time.

It's under one of their Canadian domains.
I don't want to just link it, since I rather not ruin the fun/get rid of any connections I have. Thus, I'll put a couple screencaps of the more interesting bits (not for the PX4) here. For other brands, I'll usually troll their website meta-data to see any pages that have no links directly to them (example here: https://www.goalies-only.com/hello-world/).
Any changes to the strapping?

I would expect the new customizer to come out pretty soon. The new catalogue is already out and has some updated specs/customization options.
You should be able to get a good idea of if the 32" will work for you based on the 33", I reckon.
Guess I missed the custom options page in the catalog.

The SLR series pants are fantastic, even just going from the SLR2 to SLR3 I noticed a huge improvement (and I already really liked the SLR2 pants). These look almost the exact same as the SLR3 pant, but they didn't need really much of anything changed.
I'd be most interested to try the blocker and pads. The thickness of the board intrigues me and I've liked all the SLR pads in the past.
I have custom slr4 pants on order. I've been in koho/ccm pants since 03 so this is going to be a change for me. The biggest selling point for me was the double external hip pads and flexibility with sizing.

What are the differences between them? Or are they just designating AB18 as "pro only" and AB21 as "retail only" but they're the same unit.
The ab21 is the "eflex" replacement for the "premier" style ab18 in the NHL . The one coming to retail will be the NHL spec pro one as confirmed in the new catalog.

Most pros are in a CCM unit are using the CCM AB18.
There's been some pictures floating around of the CCM AB21, it's similar in a lot of ways. They'll be releasing the AB21 in summer 2024 to retail
I've seen that new chesty a few times. If it's at retail I'm sure I'll snag one at work. I wouldn't be surprised if it was labeled as the axis xf

Awesome! It's good to see a fellow silly sider showing off the gear.
I wonder why Bauer is über-stiff. Usually it is the cheap Lefebvre gloves that are so stiff as to be unusable. I'll keep that it mind if I do look to buy a FR 580 glove.
Lefevre is probably the best feeling glove materials wise as Bauer feels the cheapest.

Based on the title, I honestly thought this was going to be a thread about 1990s goalies or maybe the best 1990s sitcom. Needless to say I am disappointed.

Anyway…
Sorry to disappoint.

I am currently in a pair of stock TF9s which I have come to really like. They are however falling apart on me. I have used the 4mm and 3mm steel, and I prefer the 3mm, as it gives me more control on my sides and movement. Based on that information, would I be a better candidate for the one piece of the two. I am leaning toward the 2 piece but can't seem to make up my mind.
The one piece only come in 4mm.

Any information that can be shared about the upcoming True goalie skate? I am looking to refresh my skates next year and am trying to decide between the new 1-piece skate or waiting for the new model.
The new model will be a contender to the konekt. That's all I can say.

True still looks like the kings of the 580's. Which isn't surprising.
Though, just based off of these pictures, it looks like Bauer comes in second for closure and quality. CCM just looks to be in a rough spot overall for their catchers.
Couple that with some of the questionable quality concerns CCM has been garnering, I genuinely have concerns they're going to rebound any time soon.
The same question pops up since the Lefebrve split: "What does CCM bring to the table to differentiate itself as a manufacturer?"
I mean honestly, for me it's going to be the customization on the CCM leg pads differentiates themselves. That being said, their blockers are thinner and lighter than trues are now

Please let me start with this is intended for informational purposes and is not to sway anyone from one brand to another. With the release of the ef6 and vapor 90, both being full hand 580 style gloves I wanted to do a comparison of the faces, shapes both opened and closed, back hand strapping, and how they play.
The True 580... The glove that set the standard.
The strapping is as to be expected. The recent change to Velcro pinky and thumb adjustment is pleasant, set and forget. The pass through of the wrist strap through the cuff makes for easy tightening without having to dig for the strap or binding. I will say that their pro palm is lacking in the protection area. But the glove closes like butter! The internal sure grip gets tacky when sweating making it easy to grip. Range of motion is decent. The pro palm protection is lacking. If reordered I'd go with pro extra to get the same level as ccm pro palm.
The CCM 580...
While similar to the true 580 there are some subtle differences. The backhand has slightly different connections. Minor changes in the backhand. Glove face is almost a spitting image of the true in presentation and a face angle. The CCM still retains the external pinky string adjust. The wrist strap also passes through the cuff making for easy tightening. Range of motion is similar to the True, but I feel the cuff isn't as open as the true. Pro palm protection is great as it has d30 in addition where true you have to do pro extra for the same.
Then there's this contraption... The ef6..
This glove as come wins and losses.. First off I will say that the range of motion is by far the best of all 4 of these gloves! The cross x strap with the newly segmented cuff make for easy articulation without interference. The thumb face however is a downfall. This thing is almost flat and has caused quite a few picks to bounce out as opposed to being funneled in. Protection of the pro palm is great. The lack of finger stalls puts alot of unwanted stress on your pinky and index finger when closing the glove.
The new to retail vapor 90..
Finally! Bauer has brought and option to try and level the playing field, sort of. First I will say that the glove closure feels more like a gnetik folding instead of a curve closure. The back hand is ridiculously tight in the back of your hand when closing, not to my liking. The back hand strapping is very similar to the ccm and true. But the wrist strap is not as pleasant as the ccm or true. Bauer retained the traditional external pinky strings. The internal liner is comfortable but 2 games back to back it starts to feel a little slippery in the fingers. Range of motion is again meh, but not as good at the true. Pro palm with dtc in the palm still leaves some to be desired. After multiple weeks of skates and being tied and stretched, this thing is still stiff!
Sorry for the quick bullet points. I will try to get measurements and face/thumb angles soon.

The definition of a custom skate and its conception?
in Skates + Holders + Steel
Posted
Ccm offer's the total custom and total custom pro for skates. Total custom pro has more options in padding and face/eyelets placing (even or offset) and boot height +/- on the player side at least. Both with performed shells as far as I know.
