  1. Brown pricing is not posted, but he’ll respond on his facebook posts with his pricing structure. I found the latest example of that from about six weeks ago.

Pricing on our chest and arms is 2400- $749.95, 2200- $739.95, 2000- $709.95, and if you want the standard built in collar add $29.95 or the high cut version add $39.95. All of our prices are in Canadian dollars. We also offer other custom features: Extra cushioning -$29.95, Shoulder lifts -$39.95, Extra Rib Protection-$29.95, Custom Colours  -$69.95, Fighting Strap- $24.95, Wider Shoulder Flaps-24.95, Suspender guides-$19.95, and the Russian Spec-$79.95. The Russian Spec is a build up of the bicep below the shoulder caps, offers thicker plastic, Extra cushioning, and segmented Shoulder flaps.
Go to brown hockey.com and enter your specs and desired options in the chest and arm section/ Explore customization.

  2. I did order the Armor version and used them tonight for the first time. The only thing I noticed was it seemed like I had slightly more give to my pads during the butterfly. I’m glad there was little adjustment and I hope this will help with allowing better performance and less joint soreness. Tonight’s skate was a skills clinic. I’ll debut them in a game on Monday night.

  3. I wouldn’t worry what a clown like that thinks about you.

Anyway I took my pads out of my bag to try out carrying them separately when I walked from the rink back out to the car. Don’t know how you guys do it. Hated it. Do you put them on the opposite shoulder than your bag, the same shoulder or do you carry them in your hands? None of those ways seemed beneficial or possible to me. Wheel bag doesn’t really work for me anyway because we have a million steps leading into and in our house. They tend to fall apart, too. The backpack option seems intriguing to me.

It's a free hat, what am I supposed to do? Not wear it?

I love that commercial. In many ways I can relate. Hey we’re goalies, we KNOW defense wins championships.

  5. I think it’s time I try a bungee-style toe-tie attachment. Although putting on the pad quickly is an added benefit, my main goals would be allowing for less strain on the hips and performance advantages. So after reading through this thread and the Prolaces vs. Monster thread, I’m leaning toward Prolaces. My question is, which model should I choose? I wear Graf 750 Goaler Pros with the Cobra cowling. I wear Simmons 586 pads. I’m sure you’re aware that the Cobra cowlings are pretty cumbersome. The 586 pads are soft and actually have torsional flex. I use regular cord toe-ties with no slack, but I still get rotation without injury due to the taper on the boot of the pad and the overall torsional flex throughout the pad. So do I chose standard or armor? If I went standard it appears I’d need to go custom if I wanted red, correct?

Was taking a hard look at Brown’s 2400 goalie bag. Seems to have all features I’d want and looks way more durable than most goalie carry bags I’ve seen. Like the grommet vent holes for ventilation too.

Anyone know about how much this one is? No pricing on the site.

I do like the idea of the Passau backpack though. Might look into this too.

I have this bag. It was a gift so not sure of the cost. It is durable and the oval shaped opening is great. Only issue is the straps are long so it hangs a little low making it slightly awkward to carry. It’s also quite big.

  7. I have a Brown carry bag. We have a partially finished basement with a narrow staircase. But that’s where we keep our equipment. I pack my bag in the basement and then carry it upstairs as a backpack. To bring it back downstairs, I pull it over the threshold and walk it down the stairs while it drags slowly. Works well. This bag does have a U-shaped opening.

  8. Despite clearing history and quitting out of the browser, I’m still getting the Amazon gift card redirect. I’m seeing it on my three devices, all apple products. I’m also getting it on other sites. The GF is getting it on her Lenovo laptop and she’s never on this site. Dafuq.

  9. We won our league in the bottom division. I was subbing as a forward. I’m on the lower right next to my girl. She scored the tying goal that allowed us to start the come back and win 3-1. We got the cup and wool hats with the league logo on it. We beat an undefeated* team.

*They had an overtime loss during the regular season, to us.B|

  10. So I tried on Brian’s gloves in Perani’s in Columbus, Ohio (Westerville). It was a model with the BOA system. My question is, how do I tighten the second glove? Once I put on one glove and turn the BOA crank to tighten it, I no longer have a set of usable fingers to turn the crank on the second glove. I suppose if I put the catch glove on first and peeled back the back of the hand protector I could get to it with the blocker fingers. Has anyone tried?

  11. I play at an outdoor rink that has a roof and buildings on three sides. I’m in the Hartford area of Connecticut. The rink is in Simsbury which is in the hills. It’s slightly cooler there than in my town probably because of the elevation.

I’ve found I can wear exactly what I normally wear indoors if the temperature stays above 20F. The roof and surrounding buildings help with dampening the wind. Toe warmers with the adhesive on one side are helpful when it gets cold. Make sure your gloves dry out entirely before you wear them outdoors. A wet glove will make your hand cold real fast. Also blocker palms that have holes will be a problem. If you can get thin gloves to wear under your goalie gloves, that will help when it gets cold. I have cotton gloves I only wear if it’s really cold. Don’t take your blocker off to put in the pegs, the cold metal against your bare hand will start your hand off cold and it won’t get better. If it’s real cold, you’ll want to wear underclothing that isn’t designed to let air in. I have UA cold gear that I’ll wear once we get into January and February.
