Just played this afternoon in Fraser, Michigan north of Detroit. A regular invite-only group that usually plays on Friday nights was able to secure their first ice time today. Only restrictions were you must wear a face covering when you enter the building at least until you get to the locker room. No other restrictions.

It was fun. A lot of falling and flubbing of passes by all due to rust.
I have played floor hockey twice, as a forward, and soccer once, as a goalkeeper, so I have been keeping somewhat active. I’ve also done some yoga recently. However, my hip was a little achy while I played today.

This skate is one my girlfriend got me involved in because she works in Detroit. Sadly, she had to work today and was pissed she couldn’t play.

WTF with these ads? I’m tired of seeing a disgusting dead rat ad. Reported it countless times. And yes, @Lucky Pucker the ads invade the content all the time. This site is definitely not designed to be viewed on a phone. I’m sure I’ll get the, “works fine for me response” now. 

I ended up watching the whole video. Weird how the conferences were set up. I guess they’re always changing the alignment of teams.

I’m guessing this thread is one of the only places banning this is even being considered. Seriously, don’t allow the goal and this won’t be a problem. It’s a skill using your stick on the puck and it’s below the crossbar. Figure out how to stop it. We’re living in an era when goaltending and offense are at extreme levels. The defending in our era sucks. Maybe something like this will actually force players to use body contact on plays around the goal instead of reaching for the puck with their stick or trying to block shots. 

Damn, this thread got good all of a sudden. I can hear the sound of the players getting hit in my head. “Ooh-ughh”

Boddam Blaze pads I used at the end of high school and through college. They were my first brand new pads. I played well in them, but they were just too small by the time I was fully grown. Using them here in adult league. Woman by my feet is my girlfriend still to this day. 

Got the original Vaughn Velocity pads as my second brand new set. This photo was playing for a adult league team that travelled to Vegas for a tournament. Incidentally, the guy kneeling next to me has a son now in the Red Wings organization, Robert Mastrosimone. He played at Shattuck St. Mary's, for Chicago Steel in the USHL and is now at Boston University. He was probably two or three when this picture was taken.

Although I played well in the Velocity pads, I did have some difficulty with them that led me to try out some more traditional pads while still holding on to the Velocities. 

First the aforementioned Brodeur Heaton's. Look at how new they look. Should've kept them! As you can see by all the awesome technology behind me, this is an old picture.

Then the Vaughn XP's (More like a 6000 line). I forgot I had the gloves, too. Should've kept these, too. Just had to figure out the toe-ties. Only picture I could find was this damaged polaroid.

I bought and sold plenty of other gear, some I probably don't even remember. Now I am rotating between two sets I've had for seven plus years.

Also, as you alluded to, the H% logo is heat transferred.  As seen in the attached photo, the Pro version had the full H5 rubberized logo.

It’s funny how in those days the lower end model had heat transfer logos while the pro had rubber and stitched logos. Today it would be sold as a weight reduction advantage to use heat transfer and they’d charge double.

Not entirely lost. Luckily this website has taken snippets of the page over time and you are able to browse to some extent on there.

It would require someone to comb through each page to gather the information and compile it, but it's there if anyone is willing to wander around blindly on the webpage.

Ever since they switched away from the Patrick Division and Adams Division in the Wales Conference and the Norris Division and the Smythe Division in the Campbell Conference, I haven’t been able to retain any of the bland, nondescript names of Divisions and Conferences. At least they were doing one through eight in the conference for playoffs for a while afterwards. Of course, they did away with that and now have an overly-confusing, convoluted system that no one either understands or cares about.

It makes me think about the goal Peter Forsberg scored in the shootout in the Olympics all those years ago. Everyone tried that goal and continues to to this day. I wouldn’t be surprised if every single member on this board has been scored on this way, if not in a game at least in a practice or drop in. That move conjures up feelings if douchey-ness. But it’s a way to use deception to score, so it’s considered fair. 

I maintain as long as there’s no safety issue it should be allowed. 

Honestly, I long for a day when players actually play defense instead of sweeping at the puck and dropping to a knee to block a shot. FOR GOD’S SAKE, hit someone! No one uses body contact in scoring areas or anywhere near their goal. The reason “The Michigan” hasn’t worked for so many years is because players actually used to hit attackers when they were near the goal with the puck. Now the only hitting that occurs is along the boards.
