Anyone know how to fix this? Or at least seal it? Had a guy run into me while on a breakaway.

Shoe goo!  Give it 48-72 hours to set.

They produce two kinds, clear and black.  Make sure you get the clear, apply a thin strip along the cut and spread it with a thin, disposable flat edge.

Yesterday was a long day but if I recall properly they are manufactured in Canada. The pads are surprisingly light, the thigh rise is a bit bulky in comparison to G3 and SLR's i have demoed previously.  I have tried their flat face 35+1 and 34+1 pads and couldn't get the pads to sit on my foot like my Bauer pads do, resulting in my leg sliding down the pad when going down in butterfly. This could me addressed by a boot strap and a different boot angle. The catcher only comes in a 60 degree break for both the two and single piece cuff, the reason i got was that their manufacturer thinks that glove breaks are only just a gimmick. I found the blocker a bit too bulky than my current one, but offer both a binding and bindingless options.

    hope this helps!

Who told you this? The Infinity guys?

It probably has more to do with MOQ (minimum order quantities)

Awesome, thanks! One of my friends recommended Bay Area Hockey Repair too.

Do you compete for ice time with this friend?

I wouldn't recommend Bay Area to my worst enemy.

I don't even think Essan does much of the patch/repair work anymore.

Anybody order VE8s recently???  Just put in an order for new custom mitts and estimated date is 09/20/18!!!!!  3 and a half months?????   That is insane!   Are they raising the synthetic cows first?

Double post to answer your second question,

Mike Vaughn has either ownership interest (or possibly flat out owns) a plastics plant and a Jenpro/clarino production facility
So, YES! He is probably raising a grass-fed, Wagyu quality synthetic cow with carbon fiber reinforced bone structure, Bio-Flex internals and +3 sizing on the flank.

Don't they also have that insane quarterly custom gear delivery schedule?  Basically your gear is guaranteed delivered at a certain date (more or less), but that's just when all gear ordered before a certain date will be delivered?  (This sounds like I'm just describing how normal orders work, but I seem to remember a schedule)

In November last year I ordered a pair of SLR Carbon pants from a store (no stock in my size anywhere that didn't have ridiculous shipping), and was told to expect 14 weeks.  There was nothing custom about the pants, just that I wanted my size.  Thankfully I guess they found a pair in the warehouse because they came in about 3 weeks later, but their scheduling seems to be pretty wild even without all the pro/junior orders.

@Moose75 You might be better off with a custom shop.

If they are like most production facilities (not just in hockey), they manufacture for retail in batches; and I'm talking mainly store stock here.

IE. they manufacture only gloves for 2 weeks. Then rotate to pads.  Then rotate to pants, etc.  This explains the 14 week time for pants, you probably caught them at the very end of their cycle when they were rotating into different gear.

I'm sure pro orders are made as they come in, piece by piece (clogging up the process)
Some manufacturers are offering "booking windows" for their retail partners.  Basically the premise is to book by a certain date for delivery in a certain timeline.

Smaller custom shops manufacture as pro orders are made, piece by piece.  My Kenesky set was done within a week.  The rest of the wait was just prior orders.

Any you guys recommend? PAW doesn't mod outside gear anymore it said on their site.

    USA:
    Dennis at FactoryMad
You can email PAW to see if she's willing to take it in, she might.
Rebound Athletic Repair (they're on Facebook, based out of St Louis)
    Canada:
    Mike at Kenesky (Toronto)

If you'd like, post or PM me some pics of what you are thinking of doing; I might be able to walk you through it if you think you're willing to do it on your own.

Never order gear in the summer months, it’s mad production time for all the pro, college, and junior players!

We've gotten some great applications so far. We will definitely be covered with people who love gear and are not smug when they post!

The only thing we don't yet have in the potential new mods is any website building or BB software experience. If anyone has this skill set, please contact me.

You mean we can't just reboot the computer it's being hosted on when things go sideways?

  8. The Goalie Crease just posted some new pro stock stuff they got on Facebook.

What's interesting to note is the logoless Warrior and the Premier unit front and center with extra rib protection.

The Premier in front is very intriguing, it looks baby sized compared to the other ones.  Maybe a Fit 2/Medium?

I had Pro V Elites which is more or less a VE8 with different strapping and traditional V-roll.

The pad will definitely soften up over time especially in the boot, not anything like a pre-V6 pad, but it's something to note. They are still going to be the softest modern pad on the market, or at least close with Optik FLX. The boot will definitely break in a lot of torsional flex, and considering it tapers at the edge of the toe, you'd be fine with their standard boot. The leather/elastic bootstrap is a godsend for goalies that still like to wear a bootstrap! I even use a fair on my Optiks. It does take a bit of getting used to, but I love how I can do my bootstraps tight but still rotate fully when I butterfly.

Anyways, onto my questions for you! How'd you like their new professor strap (the under knee one)? I was a big fan of the RRC and was kinda bummed they didn't go back to it. It's weird how they added more magnets, but didn't include a very popular magnetic buckle in probably the most important area if you want pad a tight pad/more response. And how'd you like the closure of the one-piece? Is it truly a 590 clone?

Always been a big Vaughn fanboy so I can probably answer questions on the line too. For anyone ordering a custom Vaughn set (or blocker), ask for extra carbon in the blocker face! The up-charge is negligible and rebounds FLY off of it.

The glove doesn't exactly feel like a 590.  The thumb angle feels a bit more curved and slightly shallower.   The break itself felt somewhere between a 580 and 590.

From what I have heard the 2S is NHL legal next year.

holding the 2S pants in store it was a crazy departure from what is “old spec”

True, I should have specified that its not set in stone like the actual rule, but It is noticeable slimmer and less bulky than the 1S. I like this direction of c/a's. I hate a bulky chest piece.

I was told the league will move forward with custom sized chest and arm units next year based on player measurements, similar to how leg pads are now sized.

Based on some units I've seen, it wouldn't surprise me if curved arm protection is banned in favor of something more form fitting.

Interesting, I use the Goalie SAM profile from Pro Sharp. I'm still not entirely sure what the actual radius of the blade is but the guy I was talking to at Tydan blades suggested it to me. He also said go with a neutral pitch, but I find myself off balance with it. I find myself on my heels too much...I like to be mostly on my toes as I have a very aggressive stance.

I do like the profile...like you, I used to use a dual radius, but I like the triple radius of the "SAM". It works perfectly for me in my butterfly and movements while down, but I'm thinking the neutral pitch is causing me to feel off balance in my stance.

Goalie SAM is a 10' - 50' - 27'.  Some shops will do the first re-profile for free if you don't like the first one.

Do you find the pitch keeps you on your toes more in your stance? Does it mess with balance?

I've always used a neutral pitch, but I am looking to switch things up a bit.

More on the balls of my feet with the added bonus of keeping me on the shorter side (20') of the dual radius while in ready position.
I see the most benefit when my team is on the PK and there is a lot of puck movement in the zone; being able to pivot and adjust my angle a split second faster because of the shorter blade has helped keep me a step ahead of the play most of the time.
Once I'm down, I start by engaging the ice with the back 30' half of the blade to dig and push as it's more stable.  I believe this is the correct way to do it anyway, as you can utilize the entire surface area of your edges this way, and if you need to you can roll it from heel to toe if you need to cover a long distance.

Adjusting to the new pitch felt pretty awkward for the first 30-60 mins on it.  It's hard to explain; I felt like my shoulders were a bit too far forward - they really weren't, I just had more weight on the front half of the blade.

2 piece users:  Do you use the same profile/contour on your blades as your previous skates?  Or do you find a need to change?  I am currently using a 20'/32' with a medium forward pitch on a Bauer Vertexx cowling with VH boot.  With the increased forward angle of the True 2 piece, has anyone had to or felt the need to go to a more neutral pitch?  Thankfully I have ready access to a contour system so I could try out both, but would like to receive any feedback to possibly reduce the number of times I have to contour the blades, since steel isn't cheap.

I'm basically on the same setup (boot, holder, same exact blade profile), except with Tydan steel and an aggressive forward pitch.

The nice thing with the Tydan steel is I sharpen less, so that would hopefully mitigate how often I need to re-profile the steel

I got a varlamov pro return Eflex 3 pro glove last month and I’m having a hard time breaking it in. I’ve been religiously alternating between the stretcher and the glove wrap almost daily and it’s not quite where I’d expect. Still way too difficult to close the last quarter of the way. Its a “game ready” palm but think most of the difficulty with closure is coming from the thick layer of D30.

Anyone else having similar break in issues with CCM pro Eflex 3 or pro p2? Is it the D30 that’s harder to break in?

I don't think the D30 goes across the break.  It should just in the semicircular crease in the center of the palm, you can see it protruding a bit when the glove is new.
D30 as a material is not designed to break in.  Upon impact it is supposed to rebound and stiffen immediately; it would be counterproductive for them to place it into the break.

Have you tried baking the glove in your local shop's skate oven?  This typically loosens up some of the glues and plastics and makes it a bit more pliable.
The warm water method works similar to a skate oven as well.

@TheGoalNet is that what the retail “gold” colorway will be? I pre-ordered mine from HM blind and it arrives next week but just curious how it will look.

    No.

I saw the 2S sticks at retail today, it the sticks I saw were Antique Gold (old Pittsburgh gold, like Crosby rookie year), not to be confused with Sport Gold (Boston/current Pittsburgh/Buffalo).

Incredible sticks.  I like how they thinned out the paddle at the edges around the Ergo Spine.  Reminds me of the old Hespeler goalie sticks.

So if I’m wearing 34” warrior then 35” on Bauer should fit?

    I fit a 34" Warrior, could possibly go up to a 35", but I would probably wear a Medium (34") Bauer 1X/1S/2S.
Boot breaks are very stiff on the Bauer.

I'm getting ad text cover ups as well the past few weeks. I can't even find the X box to close them on my laptop. Using Firefox.

It's annoying as shit!! Can't enjoy the posts or follow the discussion properly.

Workaround for the big Google Ads popping up and blocking text:

I hit refresh.  Usually makes it disappear.

The Xing out the box does nothing.  It blocks the ad but the rectangle is still there blocking the text.
