  1. Some mildly interesting 2020 CCM news...

When you go to the EF4 customizer page (https://ccmhockey.com/en/product/goalie/customizers/extremeflex-4), CCM has posted the 2020 EF4 customizer PDF (http://microsites.ccmhockey.com/microsites/eflex/core/imgs/2020CCM_GoalieCustomizer_EFlex.pdf)

When you look really closely at the 2020 customizer and the 2019 customizer, you see some little tweaks in the images...

Above are the EF4 cuff options as they appear in the older 2019 customizer PDF. We're all pretty familiar with this.

Below are the EF4 cuff options as they appear in the new 2020 customizer PDF. CCM is changing the cuffs up for Axis.

And it looks like a new curve is coming to the custom stick options. I put together a shitty comparison below

  2. Yeah, I wasn't a fan at all of the graphic cutting the pad in half. Graphic looks like the GT2 but now with a bigger slice of the pad being divided by that vertical line.

While it's kinda cool that you can pick up GT2 or G4 or G5 and the graphics are pretty close enough to each other that they can look like a whole set, I'd like to see something different and more exciting graphics-wise.

Warrior's got some other interesting stuff in the pipeline this year that, to me, is more interesting than G5.

Hockey equipment manufacturer Bauer Hockey announced Wednesday an agreement with STEP Skating to resolve the ongoing dispute regarding STEP Skating’s sale and manufacture of various models of replacement blades for the Bauer Tuuk Lightspeed Edge blade holder.

    ...

While the parties have agreed to keep the agreement terms confidential, Bauer Hockey confirmed that STEP Skating has been granted a limited license and will stop selling replacement steel for the Bauer Tuuk Lightspeed Edge blade holder to professional leagues by December 31, 2019, and to retail accounts by April 30, 2020.

While it doesn't specifically mention the Vertexx Edge holders, I wouldn't be surprised if goalie steel is included because the attachment mechanism is the same.

Link to the Canadian patent on the trigger assembly.

Some information on the case in the Federal Court of Canada is here:

Also a snippet of things to come mentioned in news story - bold emphasis in mine.

Bauer is the No. 1 global hockey brand and the No. 1 hockey skate in the world. In the National Hockey League, 72 percent of players choose to wear Bauer skates to help them perform their best. As part of the company’s commitment to innovate and advance player performance, Bauer Hockey has continuously invested into its newest skate collections, including with the recent launch of the new Bauer Pulse Ti and Pulse blades. The Pulse Ti utilizes a titanium coating to increase durability and offers premium in-game edge retention.

  4. Some crazy deals to be had at Goalie Monkey - https://www.goaliemonkey.com/brick-wall-specials

CCM Premier Pro leg pads at $669.98.

CCM Premier Pro blocker at $164.98.

CCM Tacks (Pro) skates at $224.98.

Bauer MyFlex bars at $4.98. 🤣

They've got SR level gear too, as well as some youth and junior.

Monkey must be losing money on these items - a lot of these items are priced at 60%+ off original retail price.

They seem to have a ton of colors of for the Premier Pro blocker, and lots of sizes and colors on the Premier Pro leg pads and plenty of sizes for the Tacks skates.

Didn't really look at the SR level price points, so YMMV there.

This was part of our college club hockey initiation on the first night of our two day tryouts 🤣

IIRC one guy did it in less than 2 minutes. He's a dentist now.

  6. Hi all,

Let's try to keep this to brand new gear from actual shops, as opposed to second-hand stuff from Ebay/SidelineSwap, etc - we can start a separate thread for that.

Ideally, this thread would be the first place someone looking for brand new gear would look to find some solid deals.

Monkey is doing "Brick Wall Specials" where they are clearing out some older gear.

    https://www.goaliemonkey.com/brick-wall-specials

The page claims that the gear is not subject to additional discount and is available until June 20th (ending a couple days from now).

They seem to have a gazillion CCM Premier 1's in numerous sizes and colors.

When you talked about the differences in the gloves (ccm vs warrior) and you have the open back picture, it looks like the last warrior strap is angeled towards your wrist. Have you tried undoing the strap and tried reangling it towards your knuckles, having the spiny velcro part being towards the bottom of the strap?

I assume you're talking about this strap?

I'm not quite clear on what you're saying. There's no other place to velcro this strap besides where it is in the picture.
