  1. I haven't seen the pad yet, but specs-wise, I'm a little disappointed with Axis. It seems to basically be an EF4 with a stiffer core. Same strapping setup as EF4, same boot angle, same flat inside edge.

The big differences are the graphic ( no effect on play), bindingless thigh (minimal to no effect) and the core. We saw LiteCore and MaxRebound in P2; how much of a change is LiteXCore and MaxRebound+ on the ice? I was hoping for a bit more technology.

Pardon my ignorance but are his masks THAT good that people will Waite 6+ months for one? Just seems like a crazy amount of time to wait for something. I see on his website it’s 33 weeks that’s so long to wait.

As @MangoRhinehart says, these are high quality masks made at an extremely low price point. In my opinion, it's the best value equipment purchase you can make, especially if you've got American dollars. Approximately $500 US gets you a full Kevlar mask, which is what Michel would build, composition-wise, for his NHL clients. A Bauer VTX goes for $899 US. I believe the CCM Axis mask will retail $949 US.

Plus the Protechsport is fit to your head. And you have custom options - I'm sure everyone who visit this board regularly likes the sound of that. You can select your choice of cages, hole shape, mask/cage colors, chin cup/sling, chin length and more.

There's an old adage: "Buy once, cry once", but that doesn't really apply here because they are more than fairly priced.

Disclaimer: I'm a bit of a Protechsport cheerleader. Own two full Kevlar masks.

I’m hoping I didn’t miss it - what’s the upcharge for pro custom and true design?  Does True Design include the PC options?

Don't know if pricing will change with Ultrasonic, but I believe it was +100 for leg pads, +50 for catcher and +50 for blocker for Pro Custom options.

I think True Design was +500.

I can't say if True Design includes Pro Custom options. I think True Design is just the graphic, but I would contact a store if you're interested.

Really, this is more indulging my curiosity as my friends group has found that Warriors fit really weird (paging @ZeroGravitas - he wears a 33+1.5 CCM and a 35+2? Warrior).

    (...)

According to their sizing charts, +0 on a 35" Warrior is 8.5" and a +0 on a 35" CCM is 11".  Both companies claim to measure from above the knee.  We can start there...

    I wear a 33+1.5 CCM and used to wear a 35+1 Warrior RGT1 and RGT2.

This is the measurement of the 33+1.5 CCM EFlex 4 from the center of the knee cradle to the end of the pad. It is just under 11.5 inches, which is what the CCM fit guide says.

I no longer have a Warrior pad to measure.

CCM has always offered three glove breaks since the introduction of the first Eflex line.

As I understand it, Monkey will be offering all three breaks at retail. Don't know if other retailers are doing that.

Goalie monkey has similar sale right now too. 20% off clearance items and all g4/gt stuff is marked down

    Good point.

The sale at Pure is better for some items, though stock is less. For example: Pure is selling the GT Pro at $575 before 20% off while Monkey is selling it for $999 before 20% off. So if you're looking for GT, take a look at Pure first.

G4 is the same price at both places, so go with whichever retailer you like more or whoever has the colors and size you like.

  7. I currently only use suspenders under the chesty. I don't tuck. Wearing a pro stock Reebok pant that does not have an internal belt.

With my old Reebok P1 C/A, I had a loop on the inside of the belly to help tie it down because the elastics would get too stretchy and it wouldn't hug the torso properly,

My current Passau C/A is still pretty new but it hugs the torso tightly so I don't bother doing anything besides wearing the suspenders underneath it.

  8. The stock market has taken a shit in the last week, but a full Kevlar mask from Michel with the smooth finish interior (totaling $895 CAD) would only cost about $620 US today.

I bought my first Protech in October 2010 and the Canadian dollar and US dollar were almost 1:1.

Good time to buy if you've got some USD burning a hole in your pocket...
